If I were a girl...

Fellas,

Since Beyonce's hit song much has been a buzz about what women would do if they were men, I've been wondering how guys would treat the opposite sex, get what they want and overall navigate femininity (black femininity, at that) and all that comes along with it in a "man's world".

I am curious, If you were a girl, what kind of girl would you be?

(Please note: I don't mean this in any Homo erotic type way, I just mean, if the shoe was on the other foot how would you wear it?)

Not many responses.....aight ill bite...in all seriousness It's a hard thing to contimplate...I can only speak from the perspective of what I see from the women in my life (i.e Mom, sister, co-workers)....and mixing it with who I am as a person right now. Considering I believe in treating people right I feel I would do the same as a woman. Could you offer more specifcs as to what particular situation(s)?

Thanks for being first- you are right; I wasnt very clear, was I?

Let's see~~~

I asked someone this question in real life. They said if they were a girl, they would only date men much older than them and milk them for everything they have...without even having any type of sex with them. They would just let them touch certain areas and take advantage of the weakness that older men have for younger beautiful women.

So this guy basically would use his body to get ahead- without using his body fully.

Some other guys might say that they would do the opposite and be virgins until marriage.

Other guys would be very very sexually active, if they were women.

Others maybe would settle down with a fam.

The genders have their advantages and disadvantages. I was just curious to see, if given a different gender, how you guys would navigate the dating world.

I think that kinda defeats the message of the song, which is about how YOU would WANT (and would hope) to be treated if you could switch genders with your partner. It's a textbook for a neglectful partner.

It's not about imagining how you would take advantage of your new gender. That's another song.

There are two parts to the song.

A part that is vindictive:

If I were a boy even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted
And go drink beer with the guys

And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted
And I'd never get confronted for it
'Cause they stick up for me

If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleeping alone

I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
'Cause I know that she'd be faithful
Waiting for me to come home, to come home

And a part that has a conscience:

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her
'Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

I don't know why I quoted the song at all just now because I am only loosely associating the thread with this song.

I am just mainly curious about this: If you guys were to wake up tomorrow morning as women, what kind of woman would you be? A loose woman, a prude, a hussler, a whore...etc.

And how might that be different than the way you conduct yourself as a man romantically/sexually.

It's not about imagining how you would take advantage of your new gender. That's another song.

You mean Ciara's "Like a Boy"?

[Verse: 1]
Pull up your pants
(Just Like Em')
Take out the trash
(Just Like Em')
getting ya cash like em'
Fast like em'
Girl you outta act like ya dig
(What I'm talkin' bout')
Security codes on everything
Vibrate so your phone don't ever ring
(Joint Account)
And another one he don't know about

[Hook]
Wish we could switch up the roles
And I could be that...

Tell you I love you
But when you call I never get back
Would you ask them questions like me?...
Like where you be at?
Cause I'm out 4 in the morning
On the corner rolling
Doing my own thing
Oh

[Chorus]
What if I?...
Had a thing on the side?
Made ya cry?
Would the rules change up?...
Or would they still apply?...

If I played you like a toy?...
Sometimes I wish I could act like a boy

It's gonna be hard, because we've all been one or the other, all of our lives.

I wouldn't want to be a whore or a bitch. I'd pretty much be like I am now just from the feminine perspective. I guess because I'd be female I'd lose the advantage of not having to deal with unwanted attention and I might be more inclined to stay in a failing relationship and maybe have to deal with the thought of actually wanting a child.

Thanks for clarifying...
I don't think I would change to much from my inner core beliefs of treatin people right, give at least a smidge of the benefit of doubt, and trying to see things from as many perspective as possible while still listening to my gut.

Taking the lyrics of the song into consideration, the first verse I can't truly identify with....because as a man now I tend to place myself second behind others needs in most cases...I'm not a sefish man. I tend to float alone when it comes to my homies due to the fact that most of my real niccas live outa state...alot of the dudes around me (co-workers) tend not to share the same belief system thus making it hard to have that brother type connection...I have to place credit to my Pops and the way he treats my mom...thus I respect women....sure in my head I may think baby gurl is sexy and imagine sticking things in places...but I won't disrespect by verbalizing degrading words.....touching what I don't have permission to touch....or anything like that. As a woman I would hope to run into someone like myself.

I would be uncomfortable with the advances men put out there considering *if I were a woman I would be decent looking (I'm fit now, great skin, nice body, sexy eyes as I'm told by my woman). Men being more aggresive with approaching, I would find that odd to handle especially if I woke up tomorrow a woman and had to cope.

Now what I would cringe about....being a woman....is the day to day cat race ya'll face daily (makeup, hair, clothing being backwards from men, oh and having to not play with my own set of supple breast---hey being honest right---them things are mesmerizing)....lol:D

Yeah, but I think the "vindictive" part is done with irony, as it likely describes the situation she's currently in, whereas the second part is what she wishes the relationship was like.

Lets scrap the beyonce reference.

If Blunt was a girl,Blunt would...?

I've never been much on the sowing of wild oats.....I tend to be more suited to experimentation with one person and getting the most out of that situation...im a pleaser....so if I am allowed to be myself with one person who respects me as much as I do them we are cool.....does it have to be monogomus....not nessicarily as long as stuff is upfront and accounted for....and I feel I would be the same as a woman...I am game for just about anything. I will say this....I would feel less grossed out with the thought of same sex adventures as a woman than as a man....:smh:just can't roll like that.....which is why i think women on women is more accepted (the lack of the penetration factor).

In your eyes, women need men more than men need women I am guessing.

Actually I think its the other way around. I think the phrase "It is not good for man to be alone" can be taken 100% literally even to the point of man not meaning mankind but male gender.

Look at BGOL. We look at women, imaging ourselves being with them. We beg yall for pictures. We post pictures of women we like. We'll spend weeks trying to find the name of a pornstar just to see more of her, knowing that a pornstar is like a dog catching a car, once you catch it what are you going to do with it? Fuck it and run? Basically you're imaging being with somebody and not being alone.

When I said about being more inclined to stay in a failing relationship. That comes from what I see. Women get cheated on and they give a man another chance because despite the fact that he cheated women will still see the good in that man or the percieved good in that man. Men get cheated on and their egos get bruised and it's over most times. A man will lose his attraction to a woman behind an ego bruise. I think ultimately women have a higher threashold for emotional pain than men. But ultimately we may need yall more.

:eek::eek:

So you are telling me that the "Bitches aint shit" mantra so freely purported around here might be a sham?

Who would have thunk it?

Bitches aint Shit is a wide statement...it can be a true one, an emotional one, or just an empty phrase.

If I were a girl,

I'd say I'm looking for gentlemen but in reality, date only bad boys

I'd dress up sexily and go to clubs, and say no to every guy that approaches me

I'd give the guy I love a hard time, just to test if he truly wants me

I'd be as superficial and as shallow as can be with no explanation required...that's how most women are anyway.
