The one thing I fault Bryant for, was being a coward and taking it to that extreme instead of demanding to do what he wanted.
I do and I dont. If the roles were reversed and we were in the middle of Uptown in the 20s and a white guy wanted to run numbers for you what would you do??? Im not in that situation so I cant say that I would buck the trend and have a white runner for me in an all black neighborhood. Maybe if he was in one of those "buffer states" like Texas, or Missouri, Maryland etc... He could come right out and say shit aint right, but in the middle of Alabama??? Nothing worse than a whiteman being a n-----lover during that time. They would have ran that dude out of the state... If he was lucky. I think he played it the way he had to, I just wanna hear more of the real story, not that made for TV shit they often put in books and shit.
