~ Comics New releases ~

^^^For some strange reason, Marvel Comics seem to have real problems sustaining strong, believable Black male superheroes without lumbering them with emotional crutches or other ridiculous character flaws.

From Luke Cage to Falcon, to Cable, the late lamented, Black Goliath, Blade and now Black Panther, superheroes of African/African American descent seem to be the fall guys of the comic book world.

Maybe it's time we the fans, begin to take it to these companies by protesting with our pockets.

If Reginald "BET" Hudlin wants to turn T'Challa into a booty shaking video hoochie then I say we boycott his shit until Marvel boot him back to BET.

Luke Cage is a good character.

It's bigger than race.

Marvel just tries to shake shit up in order to be "shocking".

They need to shake up the gatdamn staff.

T'Challa was doing just fine, he just needs a better writer.(I could put together some better shit than Hudlin:smh::smh:)

Marvel is turning into the Knicks.

I stopped reading Spider-man, The Hulk is wack all over again, Secret Invasion is average as hell, and the Ultimate line now sucks.

If it weren't for Messiah Complex, Thunderbolts, and the current Wolverine storyline I'd probably be done with Marvel...

^^^I never said Luke Cage wasn't a good character but he isn't the most developed either.

You'd thin that after all these years they'd have Cage showing how much he's learnt as a an ordinary guy with extraordinary abilities but we never really get to see him other than when he's threads are being ripped to shreds.

Dude was chosen by captain America to lead the New Avengers but we never really got to see him making leadership type decisions that actually meant something.

His woman bailed and left him for Stark and his cronies and plain made him look stupid.

We don't need the Black Panther...We Have the BLUE MARVEL!

"It's the story of Marvel's first black superhero. He was the most powerful and the most popular superhero around for a period of three or four years back in the late 1950s early 1960s. Think of how pre-'Civil War' Captain America was lauded in the Marvel Universe or how Superman is hailed in Metropolis or throughout the DC Universe and that was the popular status that the Blue Marvel enjoyed during this time period.

"However, he wore a costume that completely covered his entire body so no one knew what he looked like underneath. But when it was discovered that he was actually a black man, he was asked to cease operating as a hero and retire by President John F. Kennedy. The reason being, that at the time, Kennedy and his brother Bobby were desperately trying to push forth Civil Rights and they knew that if the world found out that the Blue Marvel, a being of incalculable power, was actually a Negro, that would set their Civil Rights plan back. Maybe even kill it all together. And they knew that if America was to move forward and evolve socially, that could not happen.

Why does he look like he stole a second-hand costume from Dr. Fate?

That shit about replacing T'challa got a brotha in pure Vex mode. I mean, WTF!? " Some of the writers I admire are hotly debated on the web boards" SO!? You wana 'fix' something that IS NOT BROKEN, just so you too can be widely debated? GTFOH!
There is NOTHING wrong with the current Ruler of Wakanda. I don't care if they're trying to make the new one his younger sister or sum bullshit "T'challa and Ororo's daughter from the future returns to the past to save the world" garbage.
All you need to do is return the Black Panther and Queen to World stage, re-emphasize that Stark and Reed aren't the only Intelligent people on the Planet (T'challa has defeated both the FF AND the Avengers on his OWN.) and get back into some interest plot ideas like him forming possible alliances with Doom and Namor against Stark's ever expanding reign of the Smug Billionaire who controls everything (which I am soooooo fed up of now.)

But basically, LEAVE IT ALONE HUDLIN, YOU DON'T HAVE CHOPS FOR THIS.

End rant.

My favorite line from TWD #54...

"The thing about smart mother fuckers is that sometimes they sound like crazy mother fuckers to stupid mother fuckers.."
