Lesbians - Someone please explain

I started this thread not wanting to change Keysersoze's toy theme.

As much as women may think the decision to be a lesbian is a personal choice it may not totally be. According to FHM magazine in a survey where they polled women, 94% of the women surveyed had been hit on by other women. That is a whopping number.

Women with women and men with men. Somehow men and women have gotten matter's all screwed up. (I really don't give a damn about the men so don't ask.) But just what did men do to make women want to turn to women? Regardless of how a few bad past relationships may have turned out to suddenly turn to your own sex for sexual pleasure is a MAJOR stretch.

Can't explain, but have experienced this knowledge;

More than a few lesbians I've met were abused by men.

I've met couples who shared a history of physical scars from the men they were with [both partners in one couple I came to know had scars you may have thought only happened in the movies].

I am fully hetero male, but understand why a woman might choose another woman if the men in her life are all that abusive.

I believe it is a choice though, like so many other things in life.

I questions this survey, just like any others b/c:

1) stats can be manipulated:
-how many women were involved in this survey? is it 94/100 ppl? lol
-isn't FHM a men's magazine w/ women posted in it? what is the likelihood of chics taking their survey? are these women hetero, homo, questioning/curious?

but this should be an interesting thread.

It's simple. Women are soft, caring, and given to extensive foreplay; whereas us guys too often approach sexual partners as cum recepticles. Tighten up your intimacy game and a lesbian in most cases has no chance. :hmm:

mags like FHM usually get their survey info from a survey group certain entities like the AP gives out. FHM doesn't go around asking random women about shit like this.

FHM probably paid for the information.

After being shocked  by the 94% total in that survey I asked a the women I then worked with. (New Your City) I asked black, white and 1 from Panama a total of 8 women ranging in age from the mid-twenties to mid-fifties, each one said they had been approached.

We may want to deny the numbers but there seems to be many more lesbians around than were care to believe.

I really don't know how many women were surveyed however the fact is 94% admitted to being approached. That's not to say these women were receptive to the idea just that they had been approached.

As for if the women were hetero or just curious it doesn't matter. If you ask 100 women I'm sure you will find a variety of interest.

Not saying abuse can't be a contributing factor for women turning to women but it doesn't apply to every woman. Every man a woman meets is not going to abuse her. Some women are making a conscience effort to pursue or enter into lesbian relationships.

But we have abuse and bad relationships as contributing factors.

Why do people doubt that most lesbians are just attracted to women? Why does it have to be some raped/abused/mistreated drama? Some people just like what they like.

True, but I think most women are lesbians by nature, and are followers. The social environmental attempts to control those impulses, but establishing mores for the groups behavior. Were witnessing a loosening of those groups beliefs. By the use of mass media, political actions and the declining male population.....

Are you sure you want to use the term "most women?" :hmm:

Are you sure you want to use the term "most women?" :hmm:

Yes, "most" women is correct. Mind you I may be wrong, but in my personal experience most women given the chance would engage in a (limited) lesbian activity, that would lead to further actions and finally to same sex relationships. Need proof, look for areas where there is drug usage, collages and places were there are few strong male role models...........

So long as the women surveyed said 'no' that stat really doesn't prove anything. I've been hit on by plenty of men and I'm still straight.

No...the reason I asked for the sample size is b/c 94% of 10 ppl and 94% of 1000 have different implications on the general public. You can't take a small sample size and apply it to the general public b/c its not representative.

Lastly, I asked about the sexuality of the participants b/c there is a possibility that women who are into chics or are curious about chics may be more likely to fill out the survey.

I just wanted to see how many variables were controlled in this survey and the sample size.

that's all

The stat wasn't to imply that 94% of the women are lesbians. Only that the number of actual lesbians must be very high to obtain a percentage that high. It also implies that lesbians are very aggressive in their pursuit of new sex partners.

Again when I worked in New York I asked the 8 women in my department if they had ever been approached and they all said yes without hesitation. Also as stated before i didn't want to take Keysersoze's thread off track.

As for you being hit on by other guys.........TMI
:smh:

They did not provide an overall number who knows it may only have been 20 women. However you can take a sample sizes and apply it anything including general public. Its done all the time by corporations and the government. Most surveys are weighted it saves time and money.

Interesting thread. I believe besides my husband i just truly have no desire for a male. I've always been more interested in women. And i don't hold back. And i make no excuses about who i am.

But just what did men do to make women want to turn to women? Regardless of how a few bad past relationships may have turned out to suddenly turn to your own sex for sexual pleasure is a MAJOR stretch.
This is a giant fallacy perpetuated by men's egos, and male dominated society set to victimize women and turn their sexuality into something still palatable for middle class american consumption. If i already didn't WANT to eat pussy? A dude whupping my butt would not make me want too. It just doesn't work that way.

No woman who doesn't want to eat pussy? Does it.

Just go to Houston. Its the Dyke capitol of the world....
Nah, Atlanta.

We may want to deny the numbers but there seems to be many more lesbians around than were care to believe.
Verily i say unto thee. Without a doubt. People are STILL, and it amazes me. STILL clinging to this idea that the only lesbians are studs/butches. There's millions of femme lesbians. And no they're not all ugly. They're not lesbian because no man wanted them either. They just ARE.

I also believe(will get me in trouble). That most women are bi. Just different leanings. Different degrees. I'm much more a believer of the Kinsey scale and understanding sexuality than such black and white ideals of what it's supposed to be. People make that way to make it easier for them to digest.

The statement needs more definition, though I am not surprised by the 94% figure:

What is meant by "hit on"? Does it mean the woman straight came onto the woman (i.e., asked out, asked if they were lesbian also), or was it just that another woman engaged in a conversation (commented on woman's outfit, etc) that the second woman felt may have been leading onto seeing if she was interested in the first woman?

Unless lesbians are restricted to only seeking other women at lesbian bars or only woman wearing a "Yes, I'm a lesbian" shirt, it wouldn't surprise me that many heterosexual woman may have been approached by a lesbian. If a lesbian spies a woman they are attracted to, how would she know if she is interested (either a lesbian, or even if so, not already involved with someone) without talking to her?

I've been to all the major cities and in just about every one i hit up the gay scene. And Atlanta blows every other place out the water. Houston is number 2. But Atl has the gay scene beat by a whole quarter length.

I stopped messing with lesbian women a long time ago. They always start off cool and then they'll get to trippin and want me to leave my husband. So bi women were just where it's at. And besides i think a bi woman made up that saying, "ain't no fun less the homie gets some".

ALL women even our mothers, aunts, grandmothers.... all of them display faggitism at some moment of life........ its life law........ pussy is the best thang since slice bread that even pussy cant resist pussy.....

NOW DATS POWER... DA POWER OF DA P.U.S.S.Y:yes:

Yeah Ive been hit on by alot of women ... but mostly straight women who were interested in experimenting or whatnot

I dont think there are alot of lesbians out there like you may think but I do think there are many many bi-curious type women out there who maybe want to play with other women but at the end of the day want to marry a man

I dont know why ... some might be abuse ... but some I think just find other women sexy ... I mean we are pretty hot:) I'm just sayin'

Girl yes! One of my friends is "dating" one at the moment and she just gets on my last nerve! I want to just shake the shit out of her, she wears boxers, a cup that makes her look like the has a penis and tapes her boobs down....And she has a nerve to have like an attitude problem! I swear it's so irksome like you said. I think to myself you gonna get smart with the wrong guy and he's gonna knock your ass out!

And her homegirl, omg! I wouldn't want her to walk up behind me in a dark alley....smh
