The Republicans are also going to have to stop trying to prop up minorities and women that basically betray basic tenants attached to their racial/ gender experience.
No more Hispanics that want to line the border with machine gun nests
No more blacks that spit on anything that seems even remotely related to civil rights or social justice
No more women that think every other woman (but themselves) needs to shut up, cook dinner, have some babies and stop bitching about equal pay.
They are going to have to actually court MEMBERS of these groups and not scrape the bottom of the barrel for OUTCASTS from these groups.
To be real, Condi Rice (as distasteful as that may seem to some) or Christine Todd-Whitman are good examples of a what a female Republican should look like, Colin Powell and J.C. Watts (post congress) are good examples of what minority male Republicans should look like in the future.
They need to GROW their minority members and not BUY them.
They also need to stop marching them onto Fox News and other media outlets to justify shit they have no business justifying simply because the white party members want to put a minority face on an ugly issue. That has killed the credibility and political future of MANY a minority and female Republican (and they seldom have any male Republicans do this unless they are younger white guys paying dues or paid mouthpieces).
This is not to say all minority Republicans are sell-outs, but they DO seem to require it of any minority or female that wants to come up the ranks within the party (Bobby Jindal did NOT come up the ranks within the party, they latched onto him AFTER he made his own way and they needed a new brown faced to counteract Obama once they used up Micheal Steele).
Hell, they mentioned on Fox News that DON FUCKING KING was a welcome breathe of fresh air in 2004 compared to what they have going for them these days.
To accomplish this, they are gonna have to let the fringe members take their asses back to the fringes like the Dems did. The Dems realized that they didn't have to diss gays, but they also couldn't have a block of dudes at the convention sporting rhinestone tiaras and assless chaps (it's just not a good look). By the same token, the Republicans don't have to diss evangelicals, but they can't have fools crashing funerals for dead U.S. soldiers because "God is gonna keep killing our boys until we stop pandering to sodomites". Nutcases do not constitute a "base", they are just nutcases and the country was better off when they did their crazy shit, stayed out of site and just didn't vote.
They also are gonna have to either reign in these talking heads or cut them loose. When Michael Savage starts hinting to his listeners that they should "do something" about Obama, the Republican party needs to come down hard as fuck on his ass to send the message that they don't cater to that type of bullshit. When Sean Hannity has Jesse Lee Peterson on his show talking up a race war, they need to make it plain as fuck that they don't condone that kind of shit and they know full well that even though his ass is black, he spouting white supremacist bullshit. They need to understand that these lunatics don't have high ratings because America agrees with them, they have high ratings because the lunatics that listen to and watch them ONLY LISTEN TO AND WATCH THEM and a few others watch the way folks slow down past car wrecks, sane folks like more diversity in their messages.
