Barack Obama has exposed the "Black Hustle"

Sugar coat that shit all you want. Fact is, the OP is a dumb fuck. Jesse and Al can't be all things to all people. They do what they do, his dumb ass parents should do their job and inspire him to pick up a book. If everyone did their part, he wouldn't have time to complain about dumb shit.. he'd be too busy.

I think that what the OP means is that when you constantly see someone like Jesse Jackson speaking up against "the system" being unjust, well after a certain point it can bring people down too. Like - We wont give our max because we already know the game is rigged against us, and we know this because Jackson has been telling us this for so long - type of thing.

And I do feel that this is a real danger when dealing with injustice. You have to really be careful and balance it out with teaching proactiveness and showcasing that success is there for the taking, rigged system or not.

But this isnt Jesse and them fault. Its up to us to be proactive and have a positive attitude. To raise our kids like we should. To treat each other with respect like we should. To educate ourselves like we should...

Be very caeful OP, cause Im telling you a President isnt the answer. You might have more power and opportunity to good for the kids around you then a President ever will.

OH, WOW! WE HAVE ONE BLACK PRESIDENT, AND NOW EVERYTHING IS SUDDENLY EQUAL!!

Nah, partna ... if a Black man can be a serious contender EVER YEAR, and not just when every race is being hit in their pockets HARD...

...then we can talk equality. Obama is definitely qualified, but right now, many feel he's the answer to a problem that ALL want fixed...

.....the financial problem. If that means electing a Black president, then so be it. I've actually visited White supremacist's messageboards to see what kind of shit they were talking, and you actually had dudes over there saying, 'Fuck ... that n*gger is better than John McCain." We're talking hardcore racists who are looking for Obama to rescue the country.

Right now, Obama being swept to victory because so any people are covinced he can stop this ship from sinking. A drowning Klansman may not give a fuck if a Black man rescues him, especially if he's the only person available and qualified to do it.

Barack Obama is about to become the president of the United States.

And all these years, we have been told by Jesse, Al, NAACP, various hustling preachers and poverty pimps that as black people, we (BLACK MEN) can't be SHIT!! and so many of us fed into it and are now rotting away in prisons, struggling to find their way out here, or dead. and anybody who disagreed with the Hustle/Rhetoric was considered a sellout/tom :smh:

These negroes have quite literally, FUCKED my generation....this next generation (my kids) won't have these problems all because of ONE MAN. I am too thankful for that...but I seriously believe that Jesse and Al (and others) should be held accountable for the irreversible damage they inflicted on our communities. anybody else agree?

I have never heard Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton put down black men. Mofos need to check pump their brakes and learn something before writing and opening their damn mouths.

A passage from the end of Jessie Jackson's 1988 convention speech. Read it and tell me he don't understand.

"Why I cannot challenge you this way? "Jesse Jackson, you don't understand my situation. You be on television. You don't understand. I see you with the big people. You don't understand my situation."

I understand. You see me on TV, but you don't know the me that makes me, me. They wonder, "Why does Jesse run?" because they see me running for the White House. They don't see the house I'm running from.

I have a story. I wasn't always on television. Writers were not always outside my door. When I was born late one afternoon, October 8th, in Greenville, South Carolina, no writers asked my mother her name. Nobody chose to write down our address. My mama was not supposed to make it, and I was not supposed to make it. You see, I was born of a teen-age mother, who was born of a teen-age mother.

I understand. I know abandonment, and people being mean to you, and saying you're nothing and nobody and can never be anything.

I understand. Jesse Jackson is my third name. I'm adopted. When I had no name, my grandmother gave me her name. My name was Jesse Burns 'til I was 12. So I wouldn't have a blank space, she gave me a name to hold me over. I understand when nobody knows your name. I understand when you have no name.

I understand. I wasn't born in the hospital. Mama didn't have insurance. I was born in the bed at [the] house. I really do understand. Born in a three-room house, bathroom in the backyard, slop jar by the bed, no hot and cold running water. I understand. Wallpaper used for decoration? No. For a windbreaker. I understand. I'm a working person's person. That's why I understand you whether you're Black or White. I understand work. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I had a shovel programmed for my hand.

My mother, a working woman. So many of the days she went to work early, with runs in her stockings. She knew better, but she wore runs in her stockings so that my brother and I could have matching socks and not be laughed at at school. I understand.

At 3 o'clock on Thanksgiving Day, we couldn't eat turkey because momma was preparing somebody else's turkey at 3 o'clock. We had to play football to entertain ourselves. And then around 6 o'clock she would get off the Alta Vista bus and we would bring up the leftovers and eat our turkey -- leftovers, the carcass, the cranberries -- around 8 o'clock at night. I really do understand.

Every one of these funny labels they put on you, those of you who are watching this broadcast tonight in the projects, on the corners, I understand. Call you outcast, low down, you can't make it, you're nothing, you're from nobody, subclass, underclass; when you see Jesse Jackson, when my name goes in nomination, your name goes in nomination.

I was born in the slum, but the slum was not born in me. And it wasn't born in you, and you can make it.

Wherever you are tonight, you can make it. Hold your head high; stick your chest out. You can make it. It gets dark sometimes, but the morning comes. Don't you surrender!

Suffering breeds character, character breeds faith. In the end faith will not disappoint.

You must not surrender! You may or may not get there but just know that you're qualified! And you hold on, and hold out! We must never surrender!! America will get better and better.

Keep hope alive. Keep hope alive! Keep hope alive! On tomorrow night and beyond, keep hope alive!

I love you very much. I love you very much."

I have to admit, I was a little in the dark about Jesse. I was watching a couple of videos on the MLK assassination on youtube the other night. You know what, FUCK Jesse Jackson, this mofo has been a snake in the grass from back in the day! Are you fuckin kiddin me? This is not speculation, this is documented evidence, this is speaking with Andrew Young and others on the subject matter. I tell you what, dont take my word for it, go over to youtube and watch it for yourselves, I guarantee you will put this coon ass snake in a different light. If you cant see it, go get your fuckin vision and/or brain checked.

- bruh...I truly think that Jesse's intentions initially were genuine, he started out as a radical but mellowed out just like Malcolm did...well, when he got in good and realized all the $$$$ to be made, he shifted gears and became a shakedown artist.

he turned dr kings dream into a multi-million dollar business for himself and those closest to him. and the only way to keep that $$$ flowing was as long as black people remained dysfunctional...

I met Jesse a few times. Powerful man. Very.

I must agree with you for the most part. I dont blame Jesse though. A lot of Civil Rights activists end up very poor.

Times have changed. Jesse was the first black to seriously run for office in modern times. Without Jessee there could hardly be an Obama.

Is there some pimpin going on...SURE...yet tell these same black people that the Bible is 95% plagiarized and they will damn near shoot you. The people that get pimped get what they deserve.

I agree with you my people ......... but, (to the one who started this thread) First of all you can't tell going there how to get there unless you been there. In those times it was hard enough just to have a voice more less a voice to be heard....as a Blackman it literary meant fight by any means necessary.... I've seen the riots i seen my father get beaten down to flight of stairs in Brooklyn for virtual nothing which made me never wanted to be a cop not because this so called snitching these young people have today but our very lives were at stake as been black 9 out of 10 of these young people today wouldn't made it.. huh left up to them we will still be in chains on some plantation physically (some are still in the mind)it took the fight of the people to get where we are at today I litarly remember JESSE JACKSON SHURLLY CHISUM AND AL SHARPTON RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, people wasn't together like they are today....so TO THE ONE WHO STARTED THIS THREAD......GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT!!!:angry: (WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE IS POWER GET SOME)

Thanks to the many posters who corrected this errant logic.

Jesse, Al and many others before and during their genre have been a lot of things, some of them at times less, perhaps, than ideal. But never has any one of those you named ever said or led us to believe that we can't be shit. What they were not, and neither is Mr. Obama, is a savior.

Hopefully Barack is elected tomorrow but whether he is or he isn't, Wednesday will still find us all in the same place we find ourselves today. The moral of the story is that Barack dreamed and worked hard to achieve that dream. No matter the outcome, for that, he's a winner. So, whether or not one is inspired by what Barack has done, the message is clear: ain't nobody gone give you shit; if you want to be shit, you have to work hard and be ready, when shit happens.

QueEx

I'm not a fan of Al and definitely not Jesse, but let's be fair. I can't remember hearing either of them say "We Black Men Can't Be Shit", or even intimating that. Now I'll agree they're both poverty pimps, but if you were indeed lead down the wrong path by their "preaching", then perhaps you should have gone your own way. :hmm:

i somewhat understand what the op is trying to say

i wouldnt say jesse and al directly told black people "they werent shit"...but due to their political activism they highlight cases were we were treated unfairly or mistreated...because of that everytime we see them they are bringing to people's attention a situation where we were told "we arent shit"

thats not jesse or al's biggest flaw in my opinion

instead of being activist often they both spend their times media whoring

i appreciate the fact they bring alot of problems to the forefront...but what have they done to solve them? what legislation have they helped passed? what supreme court cases have they helped win, turn over or create?....that is their problem

Why stop there?

Please continue the list of those who "should be held accountable" for your generation...............

Shitting on black people is easy........... shitting on white people is hard, right?

Of all the things that went wrong with your generation, Jesse and Al has been behind the GREATEST DAMAGE, right?

Go back to whence you came.

The OP probably heard this on conservative talk radio and decided to post it here. Conservative hosts are white guys that are always commenting on the black condition.

Barack has displayed to us how to fight the good fight! I like Al because he’s persistent in his message! You need someone like that. Did Al think he would win the presidential election when he ran; HELL no!

I like Jesse if you remember from back in the day when he was the hope! What we don’t realize is that politics are changing right up under our noses. Barack has displayed that. There are successful black men better than Barack in this country only to choose a different path of success. The KEY to this trump factor for Barack is MACHELLE OBAMA!

Barack decided he wanted to be in politics a long time ago and Michelle assisted him with this. Do you think Jesse and Al knew they wanted to be a president or in politics when they were preaching in the pulpit? The point I’m trying to make is that we have to vision our goals and then achieve them. Don’t let anybody knock you off your path, but by doing so; you need to have a plan. Barack had a plan to CHANGE the face of this country at the time it needed it. TIMING IS EVERTHING.

I agree to your point of the HUSTLE, if you have a good hustle, you have a good plan, but don’t knock AL and JESSE. They are just the politics of the old.
:yes::yes::yes::yes: WE CAN!

The OP probably heard this on conservative talk radio and decided to post it here. Conservative hosts are white guys that are always commenting on the black condition.

A lot of younger black dudes HATE anyone associated with the civil rights movement and really have no idea why. They don't diss MLK or Malcolm, but that is only due to the "Tupac affect" where they have achieved some level of "street cred" by taking a bullet and dying (has to be a violent death to qualify though). If MLK or Malcolm were alive today, they would BOTH be on this list of black leaders (or poverty pimps as they are called) that caused the downfall of black society. Cats like this have been taught to hate those that love them and love those that hate them by their white handlers. They are mindfucked and trained like a fucking abused spouse or a molested child.

Obama getting elected proves that if you are thorough enough, nobody can stop you, all the crackers foaming at the mouth, buying out gun shops and spitting racial bile means that Sirwoodz better hope Al or Jesse didn't read this post because he is most likely gonna be thinking about them when that white boy he thought was no longer racist is chaining his ankle to the back of an F-150.

I believe the OP is talking more about the recent Jeese than the past Jesse. As of late, he's been making some outrageous comments about Obama on radio and on television that may have tainted his legacy. Not picking on just one person, but some of the "old-school" civil rights leaders have not come out and endorsed Obama in the way that many young people would like them to.

I don't agree with most of the OP comments but i will say that Civil rights leaders haven't adapted to the challenges of 2008 and it shows.

We don't get press from them in the inner cities doing good for the community we only seem to see them when somebody called somebody a nappy hoe or when they are trying to ban the word Nigga which is ridiculous in itself. So here you have a black guy who didn't ask their permission to run, didn't pander to them, just did it and that needs to happen more after President Obama. Black people need to get on their ball and demand more out of themselves rather than waiting for the rest of the team to get on board.

I think the biggest issue here is that alot of these civil rights leaders haven't figured out how they fit into society today and this is why people like the OP don't respect them or their contributions to our people. I give respect where it is due and they have done alot but at the same time all this marching shit and press conferences will not get shit solved.

WTF is a rally in Jena, compared to a black man holding the most powerful position in the world? I'm just saying in the battle of "symbolism".

i came to read the responses, i think the masses pretty much handed sirwoodz the ether i was going to, so instead, i'll just say...

1. don't live in the south
2. go vote

This has to be one of the most idiotic posts I've ever read.

Disagree with their approach all you want, but they NEVER said Black Men can't be shit.

God, your a fucking dumbass. That post was painfully stupid.

i can seriously say NOBODY black has ever told me i can't do sheit. never said i won't be sheit. what al and naacp, jesse, etc say is that u have 2 b dilligent against those who will hold u back because you're black, or have less resources. that's admirable. but if obama is elected, that won't mean all the probs instantly go away. sheit, u have folks who make UNDER a quarter of a million a year voting for mccain. some have said they won't vote for a black man no matter what. the war continues

i somewhat understand what the op is trying to say

Now you need to reread the original post, because if you do, this response sounds fucked up (considering dude included the NAACP and to ask what legislation has the NAACP helped push or what Supreme court decisions has the NAACP helped win shows a fucking DISGRACEFUL lack of understanding of ones own history).

As far as Jesse and Al go, they are not holding political office, so they aren't going to have much influence on courts and legislation, plus the issues they champion are NOT popular issues that would be taken up by mainstream politicians (remember, ANYTHING they do that benefits black folks is "poverty pimping", what politician in his right mind would support an issue like that? Right?)

If by "Black Hustle" you mean fiery rhetoric coming out of the church, then you are also talking about "White Hustle" too. Many captivating speakers/leaders have come from the church, not just Jackson, but Graham, Falwell, and Hinn to name a few contemporary examples.

Obama too is a gifted orator. But what separates Obama from the religious "leaders," black or white, is that his foundation is not a religous fantasyland but the intellectually rigorous world of academia.

If the "Black Hustle" is style, then indeed, Obama has exposed it by demonstrating its superior alternative -- substance.

- first off, you are awfully sensitive and emotional over this topic, so I apologize if anything was said to get you that way.

secondly you are talking about the NAACP that we've all been taught to worship and praise and brag about...this was their hey-day. what about right now? what about the past 20 years? you cats love to bring up times before we were even born on these types of subjects, but you'd have to use GOOGLE to find out who the president of the NAACP was today...pardon me for living in the present.

Jesse and Al are hustlers...if Jennifer Hudson's family was killed by COPS or by KKK/White supremacists, they'd be all over it, and it's been that way for 2 and a half decades - they know there is media time and $$$$ in certain events. what's funnier is that YOU know this, but to formulate your arguments you have to pretend to NOT know this...it's silly.

Barack Obama is not going to be a black leader, hell he may not even touch on "black" issues, and that's fine with me. and again, just him BEING there will do more for black people than those 2 black terrorists have done in their whole lives.

.

- no, the black hustle is profiting off of black misery and black dysfunctionality. giving a black man who kills 4 or 5 black children a pass, when you don't do so for whites.

just a little over a year ago, they had that march in philly to try to curb the black on black violence up there, all organized by community activists and the police chief i believe - and none of our "leaders" showed up for it (Bill Cosby did). now, if over 370 black people were killed by police in a year or by some white right wing hate group - we wouldn't be sitting here typing right now - we'd all be either fighting in the streets or dead...a race war would be inevitable, and those two would be the main ones calling for it from Barbados.

Jesse and Al know that they bring cameras and media attention...I guess they were too busy fighting Don Imus or the Jenna 6 to attend...no, wait my bad...that stripper down in North Carolina was going down...boy on boy, lord knows over 300 black men murdered is nowhere NEAR as important as a a beautiful black stripper. :hmm:

I'm getting sensitive and emotional, you create a post blaming civil rights activists for every ill in the black community since the fucking 70's and then go on to claim Barack Obama as the ONLY black person of any status who is not a "poverty pimp" and then you want to make an argument that you are logical?

You are the flipside of Destrehan...

  • Once cat is sitting in his basement pissing his pants scared Obama might win because he doesn't believe a black man can achieve shit without white approval and marching orders
  • Another cat who is sitting in his basement ready to hang himself if Obama looses because he has become his personal messiah and he won't know how to go on from Nov. 5 without Barack's guidance (because apparently Obama is the ONLY black man since MLK died to ever achieve shit or have the best interests of his people at heart)
Both of you cats are delusional and none too fucking bright. No need to shit on Obama for succeeding and no need to toss the entire fucking race under the bus as some sort of blood sacrifice to the dude. He isn't Christ OR the Anti-Christ and the two of you need to pull your shit together and come back down to Earth before you end up in the stratosphere permanently (and on the side of some road with a hand drawn sign and a pixie cup begging for change).

Why would any Black Man believe anything anybody would tell them about what they "Can't Be"?

Anyway, Barack would not win this presidency if Jesse and Sharpton didn't paved the way.

He is standing on their shoulders. At least in terms of the type of well rounded Black Man that didn't have to suffer through the America's greatest civil rights leader being shot down and or being stabbed in the gut.

Barack isn't tainted by the extremes they other Black presidential candidates had to suffer through.

White America knows it's the Rich "white" CIA Oil Mongers who are the true Anti-patriots.

Don't get too happy, they (CIA a.k.a the Bush family) will cause some shit on a world wide stage to stay in power. They stole the presidency they just aint going to let Barack keep the power so easily.

When Barack wins, Daddy Bush CIA is going to cause some bullshit.

Biden said it won't take all of 6 months before they test him.

Oh Yea, and ain't Baby Jed Bush still in Florida...land of the hanging Chad?

I'm getting sensitive and emotional, you create a post blaming civil rights activists for every ill in the black community since the fucking 70's and then go on to claim Barack Obama as the ONLY black person of any status who is not a "poverty pimp" and then you want to make an argument that you are logical?

- oh okay, so basically you aren't even TRYING to address the points I made. okay...thanks for responding to the thread though.

Barack Obama is not going to be a black leader, hell he may not even touch on "black" issues, and that's fine with me. and again, just him BEING there will do more for black people than those 2 black terrorists have done in their whole lives.

stop digging yourself into deeper and deeper holes...

let something blatantly racist happen to your stupid ass, you'll be on the phone with jesse, al and the naacp...and if ANY of us find out it's you...we'll reference this point..print screen and let the racist kill you. :smh:

you don't care if the PRESIDENT touches on black issues? you're truly a moron for that....

you call jesse and al terrorist? man....will a moderator please ban this dude??

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

so is that what my life should be based on? I should base my entire existence on what a WHITE person may do to me? I should let this cloud my judgment, thinking, and decision making like YOU do?

what's funny is that the mexican on black attacks are getting to be pretty normal especially out on the west coast...what great black super hero should I call if they decide to try and kill me?

Your POINTS are played out Rush Limbaugh talking points. I heard them 17 years ago after the L.A. riots, I heard them after the O.J. trial, I heard them after Dennis Byrd got drug, I heard them after those church bombings and racially motivated killings in the 90's, heard that shit after Katrina, heard that shit in Jena, etc, etc, etc. YOU AIN'T SAYING SHIT!!! Not only are you not saying shit, but the shit you AREN'T saying isn't even your own thoughts. It's recycled bullshit, I mean recycled to hell and back and if MLK and/or Malcolm X were alive today or if you had been alive then, you'd be saying the same about them, why, because you say whatever the fuck white folks program you to say.
