so I've been debating dying my locs...
i really would prefer not to put any chemicals in my hair because I've been there, done that and my hair is healthier when i refrain from using them

but sista girl found a patch of gray that is irritating the hell out of me. i can't stand it anymore!!! i've tried hiding it with headbands and styling my hair so that it isn't so noticeable...

saw a picture of myself the other day. it's noticeable.:(

please offer some advice on how i can do this while at the same time minimizing the damage coloring may cause
this means you too bgirl, since you've already been offered up as a person knowledgeable on this topic

When I dyed my locs I used organic plant based color. If you are doing it yourself, you can get it in whole foods or a good health food store. I don't know where you are at, but in NYC there are many organic salons as well. You need to use ALOT of color, maybe twice the usual amount the locs just drink it up and you also need to leave it on longer than usual or else you will have to do a few applications. If you just want to cover the grey up I would strongly advise just using your same natural color. I did mine orangey blond and my natural color is very dark brown damn near black and it looked like shit when my roots grew and became a HUGE pain in the ass to keep going back to dye the roots. HTH.

BTW I got real fed up with all that so I am back to my natural color now and I cut off all the blond parts.
