Blackberry Storm vs Iphone - Comparison Chart

I have yet to jailbreak my 3G Iphone , but I was recently bowling with a buddy that jailbroke his, and as a result, has a ridiculous amount of applications including:
* a video recorder
* a program that takes better pictures ( digital upscaling), automatically sends them to a database of your choice (ie facebook, or a photo uploader), and records biographical info (where and when the pic was taken) automatically
* Windows mobile with cut/paste/edit capability
* a mock mms which uses any IM program
* a program that allows the use of any or several IM services (I believe there is an official version of this as well)
* A program that allows multiple apps to run simultaneously without any shutting down, or slowing down the phone

Just to name a few. He also informed me that the jailbreaking programs are so advanced now, that bricking your phone is no longer an issue. Basically the only thing that he and I are both waiting on is the flash player, which Adobe has created and submitted to Apple. Apple just needs to approve and release it.

Sounds like jailbreaking is the way to go. I'll probably jailbreak mine, once he sends me the info.

is sprint getting the storm?
My brother works for verizon and he said that verizon is the exclusive carrier of the storm, provided the meet certain sales targets set by RIM, so they will offer a month to month plan to attract people without a contract!!

I wonder what tmobile getting:confused:
Are they getting the bold, storm, thunder, lightning? wtf!??
I currently have T-mobile and several employees have said that the most def. will have the bold, but as stated earlier not the storm!! let's hope!!

Does the black berry support Activesync just like iphone and HTC does ? :hmm:

If im not mistaken activesync is OS specific... not hardware specific if you are running microsoft you sync email with activesync- with palm OS use versamail

Blackberry should have come out first, then the iPhone would be considered a "Blackberry killer" or a "Blackberry wannabe". Blackberry will lose points just because it's not an iPhone. They should just drop some hot shit and quit attempting to be or beat the iPhone.

The Storm will eventually come to Tmobile, just as the Pearl started on Tmobile and ended up on every other carrier. It's just a matter of having patience. Also, Tmobile is getting hte Javelin which is an upgraded Curve and reviews so far have said it is great. As a matter of fact, between the Javelin, Bold, and Storm the only differing features are touch screen (storm) and wifi (bold). Javelin's form factor, from what I read, is all around better than the other 2.

Also, Blackberry has already started releasing SDK's to developers and has an app store in the works so applications really won't be an issue (there are already tons of applications for current gen blackberries).

Something else to look out for is the Xperia X1, which sony is still being a tight ass about regarding details.

2 different markets. Blackberry is the trusted name in business phones and companies will more likely go with these updated phones that can use the BES and architecture they already have in place instead of taking a (big) chance on the iphone.

Also the business applications (office document readers/editors specifically) I've seen screenshots of on the storm look really REALLY nice.

Why should you have to Hack/Jailbreak a $300 phone and VOID its warranty just to get a simple CUT & PASTE function which has been apart of damn near every O/S since 1980?!

FAIL!
NO FAIL, A jailbroken iphone will run circles around that blackberry with over 500 apps(some apps install tethering as well as instant messaging and multimedia messaging). Only thing missing at the moment Is the bluetooth audio

Again, I repeat for those who didn't understand the first time I said it:

Why should you have to Hack/Jailbreak a $300 phone and VOID its warranty just to get a simple CUT & PASTE function which has been apart of damn near every O/S since 1980?!

Or do simple things like tether or use certain applications?!

There's no need for it to support Activesync.

If you're a corporate user, the Blackberry Server is set in front of the Microsoft Exchange server and everything happening in Outlook (or any other email account you map to it) continuous syncs wirelessly full time.

If you're a non-corporate regular consumer, the Blackberry Desktop application is basically the RIM equivalent of Activesync. It will sync with your Outlook and perform the same functions, but it also allows you to create playlist and import directly from your Itunes account

My bad. What I meant was, does this blackberry support Exchange ActiveSync ?
I don't want to use a Blackberry Enterprise server. Too expensive :hmm:

It don't matter, why do people void warranties and modify cars? My point Is, It's still available to you. You have a choice, If you want to unlock the full potential of the device or not.

 Iphones are not made for the large corporate environments like the Blackberrys. And businesses would rather stick to what they know works as opposed to switch to the unknown.

First of all Heist, good thread. I think I get the idea of jail braking but give me a break on the 500 apps bullshit, as reason it's better. Ain't nobody that busy to need that many apps. You read mail, run your mouth, you send a text, watch a vid, listen to music and surf. Oh yeah, if you are a complete loser, you play games. That's 99 percent of it. 500 apps. that's nuts.

only phone I ever had with cut and paste was a treo.

Jailbreaking just really isn't as deep as you seem to think it is, and if you need to use the warranty, which I don't think is very good anyway, you just put it back like it was- presto. If you don't have one, it's kind of hard for you to understand it though, sounds complicated.

been waitin on this phone too...im really lookin 4ward to the BB9000 i dont know if thats the bold or not i jus know em by #s...but anyway its a toss up b/w the 9000, storm, iphone or g1

Outside of the iSheep, I don't know of any smartphone that doesn't have Cut and Paste.

Apple can see if the O/S was tampered with even if you reflash it, which would void it.

without wi fi or the app store the only way blackberry won is if the storm is like 70 bucks

People always talk about all the Apps you can put on your Iphone.

I know people with like 4-5 PAGES of them.

Then I ask them how many Apps they REALLY use ....

"Oh, like 4-5 of them. Not including a game or two":lol::lol:

ehhhhh you may have a point there. As long as they improved the browser, which was my only problem with blackberry...then im all in

what homie said^^^^

and the camera phone is better, now i can upload all the dumb shyt I see in the city everyday and upload on youtube.. or googlevid

I am sorry with email, mms I have to give it to blackberry....

and the upgradeable memory is the bomb is you are stuck in the airport and have to watch a couple of movies to kill the time..

audio blue tooth streamin.. that oughta be fun to fuck around with.

cant wait for it to come out, you can keep the iphone...

^^^When I did the O/S 4.5.69 update on my Pearl 3 weeks ago, the Blackberry Browser was MUCH improved. Not quite Iphone, but a real Web Browser it was.

Storm will have an Iphone level web browser though.

I've already seen screenshots. They basically just duplicated the Iphones. Why reinvent the wheel I guess :dunno:

First of all, it aint that deep. I like Apple products, period, so I got an iphone. It's extremelty compatible with everything I'm already using.

But it aint like I'm AGAINST people using whatever they like. I don't claim it's the best, it's the best for ME.

I also respect Blackberry's I have just nevr had one- I bought one once, and I took it back the next day, cuz i didnt feel like learning it.

What other phone has cut and paste besides treo's? The blackberry I had didnt. does the new one? I had a tmobile dash- it didnt.

Instead of labeling me isheep, you coulda jusr named maybe two of em.

I don't work for apple and I don't know who you work for, but it simply aint worth

cryin about.and where do you get this info about apple knowing that the phone was tampered with?

:lol: word I was one of those too. once the initial hype of being able to have all that shit on your phone dies down tho, the app store truly does make apple the champ of this touch screen shit brotha.

granted, at 16 apps per page youre not gonna use 4-5 pages of them shits regularly. It's like programs on your computer or bookmarked pages in your browser, they don't get equal usage but they're there if u need em. Nahmean?

My H.S. sidekick LX has copy and paste... and I hope that the G1 has it.;)

Uh how about any WM (windows mobile) powered PPC(not smartphone) device ?...they all can do a simple function as cut and paste...out of the box.

WM smartphone's didnt have this function but there was an app for it, Vito Cut and Paste

now Iphone users can too:
