I haven't watched the series yet. Live in Canada. Gonna check it out in the linkage soon enough. I emailed it to my mom last night (she was also a fan of Six Feet Under) and her reply was - "That Alan Ball's an interesting guy. Disturbing show ..." - haha.

Some of the show was cool but for the most part it fuckin sucked.It already has the cliche normal chick loves a vampire role.And that's taking up the whole series.I ll try a couple more episodes though.

I liked it. The black chick was ok, obviously her acting that way is a defense mechanism. That shit had me dying when she slapped her boss. She softened up a little bit in the second episode and I think she'll be a little bit more interesting as the show goes on. I think the original girl from the screener would've been better because she had a better accent.

I don't think it's all that slow either. So far we've learned that Bill is relatively young for a vampire and doesn't have all his powers (and from next week's preview there are vampires stronger than him that he has to bow down to), he's from that town.

We also see that Sookie has problems with being a telepath and that she really can't date a regular dude because she knows what they're thinking. Plus we learned a little about the other characters too.

I don't see it as slow, two episodes to set up the plot and the villians are introduced at the end of the second episode? That's not slow at all.

Sam is only one of dozens of black male actors who get to play "ignorant, hoodrat" roles (and get praise for it). Black actresses (in regular series) ONLY get to play saints. Nothing wrong with playing a colorful, crude character for a change, just like the white actors and actresses get to do.

Again, I ask, why do you care? You are not black. Why don't you concern yourself with your people and let "us" concern ourselves with ours?

BUT the worst Southern accents since "Jason's Lyric". I really wish actors put more effort into learning Southern accents and dialects.

HBO seems to like it. They already renewed it for a 2nd season. If HBO is looking to replace the Soprano's they're just gonna be looking for awhile because there's no show that's going to have the success it had. At this point all they can hope is to just go after different demographics like they're going for and just hope to get more viewers that way.

You must've just seen the 1st episode. You see episodes 2 and 3 and you sort of understand why the black chic acts that way but her's character has toned down some. I guess she just needed some dick lol.

That's bullshit. Cast members often change between the time the pilot is filmed and the start of the actual series. Kerr may have not been satisfactory or may not have been available to continue.

Rutina Wesley is a decade younger and made a solid impact in the Canadian indie film How She Move. She's a well-trained actress, with a good look for the time and place.

The series is another one that obviously deals metaphorically with bigotry, subsituting anti-vampire bigotry for anti-gay, anti-black, and anti-Semitic bigotry.

That's the same shit I was thinking while watching it. I'm catching it onDemand, its alright. I do hate their accents though. but why is she telepathic???

Come to think of it the show would work MUCH better as a comedy , but i don't think that's what they are trying to do.
