~ Comics New releases ~

I think NOVA was based on Green Lanter when he first came out in the 70's.

Everybody always said he had too much power to be in the New Warriors. He was written as a washed up super-hero in the first issue.

But this is a pretty good character make over.
He is basically taking the place of Quasar.

yeah, alot of similarities with Green Lantern

but I they kinda took it in a different direction with Annihilation, essentially killing off the rest of the Corps and really upping his powers. Imagine if say, all the Green Lanterns were killed off but the last living GL had ALL of their powers as well as knowledge and experience transferred to him. That's almost what Nova is, he's really Super Nova, now. Plus with the New Warriors, he was still more or less an teen or young 20s cat. Now they've kinda matured his character to maybe the late 20s , early 30s thing. Making all the right decisions but still giving into the heat of the moment at times.

Great book. Gets pulled for me at the shop every month.

Ok, and the boys at Wizard mag felt he cemented his status as a now bad-ass by what he did to Annihilus in Annihilation final battle.

Dat shit was str8 gangsta

Now...

What did I say a few posts up about Jeph Loeb?

Though I loved the dialogue,

That ending was STUPID!

Now how long is this "WHO IS THE RED HULK?" going to go on?

Who knows... but this story arc so far is pissing me off. How can they go from WWH to this shit! They need to bring back WWH, have him deal with the realization of everything that has happened & move from there. Not have him regress into the simple as fuck 'Hulk Smash' Hulk. And I hope that they do not do the whole join his personalities into one crap like they did years back. If they do, I think I will drop this book.:smh::angry:

Yeah... Nova is that book right now. They really stepped the story up since Annihilation.

Uh, Kyle Rayner, anyone?

I swear, Marvel just takes DC's ideas & redo them.

I'm not a huge comic book head, but I do read from time to time. I read more now actually b/c of this thread. What is up with the Ultimates? What is it about, and is it worth reading?

Not really. Vol 3 is prolly the worse so far out of all of them.

Kyle Rayner (according to DC) was not the last GL. Though, @ the time he was. But he was still limited to 1 GL worth of power.

Nova is on a different level. If anything with the wolrdmind - He should remind you move of Firestorm.

I think WattDogs was referring to Kyle Rayner's stint as Ion (y'kno, before DC decided to turn it into a giant green space whale symbiote entity.lol)

"Kyle first assumes the Ion identity after a prolonged series of events stemming from the death of his girlfriend Alex. First, he unconsciously expels all his feelings of rage from himself, which takes physical form as one of Kyle's childhood nightmares and calls itself Oblivion. Kyle defeats Oblivion in the Circle of Fire storyline, and his powers are boosted as a result. Over time his powers begin to grow even stronger until Kyle realized he is tapping into the Green Lantern energy left in the sun after Hal Jordan died. After a battle over control of the power with the villain Nero, Kyle absorbs all the powers of the Green Lantern Corps, resulting in Kyle taking the name Ion.
Kyle uses his newly expanded abilities to recreate the Guardians of the Universe on the planet Oa, whom he places in the care of Ganthet and orders him to teach them humility, and then recharges the Central Power Battery on Oa. Kyle divests himself of his new abilities soon afterwards when he realizes he is losing touch with the people he was protecting"

Powers and Abilities of Ion: The sum total of all the energies contained by the Guardians of the Universe and the Central Power Battery which granted the possessor nigh-omnipotent control over time, space and reality.

change tht prlly to absolutey.

It's sad.

In 2 yers Ultimate Marvel has gone from brilliant and sucessfull to just being a fucking mess:smh:

That shit is now 3 times as scattered as the regular Marvel universe.

And why the fuck is Nick Fury still in Ultimate Spiderman when he's supposed to be in another universe???

Hate to say it but I'm glad they're canceling some of these titles...

best lines of the last 2 weeks:

War Machine - "Recognize."
Deadpool - "HOLLA ATCHA BOY!"
Black Panther - "This is what happens when you invade Wakanda"

Hilarity.

yoooooo, invading Wakanda is NOT a good look...for ANYBODY!!

"It was their souls".

This was a BRILLIANTLY written comic. Classic Marvel.

If anyone runs across a link to that first and second season of the Ultimates, please post a link... I haven't found it anywhere so far.

Whoever this guy is writing Black Panther now is just what the character needed.:yes::yes:

That Hudlin shit was corny...

Yep.

After Millar and Hitch left to do "THE FANTASTIC FOUR",
MARVEL should have just left shit alone.

"ULTIMATES V#3" is one of the WORST series I've read this year.
Loeb and Madureira turned that series into SHIT.
Loeb can write better than this.
And Madureira's art is just too "arty-manga" for me.

Thats the thing, they couldnt leave it alone. The Ultimates is the true flagship title of the ultiverse, delayed releases and all.what i want to know is how they thought this current bullshit was worthy to release for public consumption. On some real shit, what the fuck are marvel editors smoking? They make some real stupid decisions sometimes man, damn.

On another note, ultimate hawkeye needs his own book, that muthafucka crazy as cat shit now.

lol. He's like bullseye now.

bullseye vs. hawkeye vs. deadpool.

i'm glad you all agree with what i was thinking.

Ultimates volume 3 has no saving graces.

Black Panther had NO LINES. PERIOD. He was knocked out of book one and has been of no consequence since.

the art is inappropriate for the title.

the plot is nonsensical.

the Bullseye/Grifter feel for Hawkeye is a mismatched.

but the saving grace is that i didnt buy the motherfucker. then i'd be asking for my money back.
