CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) — Sarah Palin took her first impromptu question from a reporter traveling with her campaign Wednesday while shaking hands at a restaurant called Karl's Inn of the Barristers in Cleveland.

A pool reporter from the national press corps asked Palin's reaction to the federal bailout of insurance giant AIG.

Palin said she is "disappointed that taxpayers are called upon to bailout another one."

"Certainly AIG, though, with the construction bonds that they're holding, and with the insurance that they are holding, very, very impactful to Americans," she said. "So you know, the shot that has been called by the feds, its understandable but very, very disappointing that taxpayers are called upon for another one."

The reporter asked Palin if she had plans to come to the back of the campaign plane to chat with the reporters who cover her as she campaigns around the country.

"We're getting lonely back there," the reporter said.

"Are you getting lonely?," Palin answered. "Gee, yeah, come on up then!"

When Palin entered the restaurant with her husband Todd, she introduced herself to about 10 patrons as "Sarah," and told them, "Excuse me for interrupting your meal." It was Palin's first retail campaign stop since the day McCain tapped her as his running mate.

-------

I had NO idea she'd never answered an unscripted question before this point in the campaign... :smh:

Re: Palin takes FIRST impromptu question from press...

Palin answered. "Gee, yeah, come on up then!"

Is it just me or the more I read/listen to her, she sounds more and more like...

Seriously compare Alicia Silverstone's dialogue below to Palin's speeches.
Cher: So like, right now for example. The Haitians need to come to America. But some people are all, "What about the strain on our resources?" Well it's like when I had this garden party for my father's birthday, right? I put R.S.V.P. 'cause it was a sit-down dinner. But some people came that like did not R.S.V.P. I was like totally buggin'. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, and squish in extra place settings. But by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier. And so if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians. And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.

I mean, all Palin said in that article is essentially this:

'Gee, its like you know - totally not cool that taxpayer have to pay for this.'

Wow, I guess she could have bumbled like Obama does when he gets asked unscripted questions

Or she (Palin) could, without bumbling, prove Chuck Hagel a liar.

This is probably the real reason why John McCain wants to cancel her debate

Re: Palin being interviewed on CBS

Beat me to it, I was just about to post
the exact same video. Its obvious she
has absolutely no clue WTF she's talking about

Re: Palin being interviewed on CBS

wow, she bumbles on 2 questions and ya'll jump on her. One was asking for her to recite history of McCain's change ticket. Amazing how people jump on McCain's change history but no one asks of Obama's history of change. Its amazing, I guess his word is good enough.

Then she gets asked about McCain taking money from Freddie. Yes, McCain has taken money from them just like Obama has but no one says anything. (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/fact-check-did-obama-profit-from-fannie-and-freddie/) But no one talks about how former Fannie CEO Jim Johnson assisted Obama in his VP selection. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/fact-check-did-obama-profit-from-fannie-and-freddie/
I guess that just isn't important, but last time I checked money isn't like a person (i.e. cannot make its own decisions, etc.).

I'm glad to see how Obama has stopped bumbling around... a teleprompter works wonders.

Look I could seriously care less who you support
thats what makes this country great, we can agree
to disagree, but please dont try and minimize Palin
in-experience. No way can you argue she's qualified.

She obviously did'nt have a clue that McCain's aide
firm was still recieving payments until last month
mind you of up to $30,000 a month. It was brutally
apparent in her response that she was'nt informed.

Is Obama perfect and dirt-free?.......HELL NO but what
politician really is, we normally vote for the lesser
of two evils in all elections. The bottomline is this
Who do you feel is more qualified to become the next
President? Barack Obama or John McCain every other topic
issue, voting record etc is irrelevant.

Lastly please explain and defend the following:

Katie Couric:
You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your
foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin:
That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia,
and, on our other side, the land-boundry that
we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was kinda made to …
I don't know, you know … reporters.

Katie Couric:
Well, explain to me why that enhances
your foreign-policy credentials.

Sarah Palin:
Well, it certainly does, because our, our
next-door neighbors are foreign countries,
there in the state that I am the executive of.
And there…

Katie Couric:
Have you ever been involved in any
negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Sarah Palin:
We have trade missions back and forth,
we do. It's very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia.
As Putin rears his head and comes into the
air space of the United States of America,
where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right
over the border.
It is from Alaska that we send those out to
make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation,
Russia, because they are right next to, they
are right next to our state

full interview;Palin discusses plans for America
NEW: If elected, Palin says she will address energy issues, government reform

NEW: Palin says she has more executive experience than Sen. Barack Obama

Palin says she did not intend to imply that parts of America more patriotic than others

Palin made the controversial remarks at a rally in North Carolina last week
CNN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin vowed on Tuesday to use her executive experience to tackle government reform and energy independence if she and Sen. John McCain win this year's presidential election.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin speaks with CNN's Drew Griffin Tuesday.

"It's going to be government reform because that, that is what I've been able to do as a mayor and as a governor, you, you take on the special interests and the self-dealings. Yep, you ruffle feathers and you have the scars to prove it," Palin said Tuesday in an interview with CNN's Drew Griffin.

"You have to take that on to give the American people that faith back in their own government. This is their government and we've got to put it back on their side," she said.

Palin said she and McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, discussed the possibility of her working on the issue of energy independence if she becomes vice president.

"That's been my forte as the governor of an energy producing state and as a former chair of the, of the energy regulator -- entity up there in Alaska," she said.

" look forward to that and that's a matter of national security and, and our economic prosperity opportunities."

Palin also said helping families with special needs children and cleaning up Wall Street were among the other "missions" she and McCain had discussed.

Palin emphasized her executive credentials as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and governor of Alaska, contrasting them with what she said was Sen. Barack Obama's lack of leadership experience.

"We don't like to toot our own horn so we don't," Palin said. "But, I have, I do have more experience than Barack Obama does. You know, he had served for his 300 days before he became a presidential candidate and that wasn't in, in executive office." Watch Palin say she has more experience than Obama »

Palin also apologized Tuesday for any misunderstanding caused when she referred last week to the patriotic values of "the real America" and "pro-America areas of this great nation."

Democrats and others criticized Palin for seeming to imply that some parts of the country are more patriotic than others.

Palin denied that was her intention in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.

"I don't want that misunderstood," Palin said. "If that's the way it came across, I apologize."

The Alaska governor made the remarks at a fundraising event in North Carolina last week.

"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation," she told the crowd.

On Tuesday, Palin also addressed Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden's comment that Sen. Barack Obama would be tested from the very beginning of his time in office.

At a fundraiser Sunday night, Biden said that after taking office, "it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. ... We're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

Palin said Griffin that the comment points to the dangers of electing a relatively inexperienced person

"We need to thank Joe [Biden] for the warning," Palin said.

Biden's point, according to a statement issued later, was that "we need steady leadership in tumultuous times, not ... the stubborn ideology of John McCain."

Palin stopped short of labeling Obama a socialist Tuesday, although she and others have previously called his tax policies socialist.

"I'm not going to call him a socialist, but as 'Joe the Plumber' has said, it looks like socialism to him," she said of Joe "the plumber" Wurzelbacher.

The GOP ticket and their supporters have invoked Joe the Plumber numerous times ever since the Ohio man confronted Obama about his tax policy in an impromptu campaign moment.

Palin said Wurzelbacher is representative of "Jane the engineer and Molly the dental hygienist and Chuck the teacher."

Obama defended his decision to raise taxes on couples earning more than $250,000 a year while cutting taxes for people with lower incomes, telling Wurzelbacher that "when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Palin said the policy was "not good for the entrepreneurial spirit that has built this great country," the economy or small businesses.

Obama brushed off McCain and Palin's characterization on Sunday in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

"John McCain thinks that giving these Americans a break is socialism," Obama said. "Well, I call it opportunity, and there is nothing more American than that."

Re: CNN Interview With Gov. Sarah Palin

:smh: All I have to say about this is... I can't wait for Saturday Night Live!

Re: CNN Interview With Gov. Sarah Palin

 she did fine. she answered tough questions and shut up CNN from stating over and over "We need to interview Palin". The New York Times of all places did an article stating that "In her continuing evolution from the least accessible to the most accessible of the four candidates,”

One thing's for sure, Obama will be lowering the voice of Biden.

Re: CNN Interview With Gov. Sarah Palin

what on God's green earth possessed biden to say that:confused::angry:

good thing the media can focus on the shopping sprees at niemans sara has been having instead of that madness

and im sick of sara doing these interviews with passive ass reporters who dont challenge the rehearsed talking points

i swear the republicans locked sara away and put her in the cut cause she is spitting info like a neo at their probate

i find it hilarious that the reporter just outright admitted bias to obama's campaign...at least they are being honest

Re: CNN Interview With Gov. Sarah Palin

Ole Joe put McCain back in the race with that comment....

I'm convince that Biden has been paid off by the Clintons....

Greta Van Susteren interviewed the Palin family this past weekend, and in the holiday spirit, everybody participated in the fun.

...and Greta's interview continues with the Palin family over this past weekend. I just really love this family, and the funny thing is, their folksiness is what endears them the American people; yet it's what the elites don't get and believe we should be offended by her "hillbilly" style. They just don't get it, do they?
