I went to a conference a while back and recorded everything on my cheap mp3 player/recorder.

Bottom line is I uploaded it to my laptop where even if I turn the volume all the way up I could barely hear it with a decent pair of noise reduction headphones.

Can anyone recommend any software that can take the mp3 files, remove any hisses or noise and improve the volume as well as the quality?

I believe the current Mac version is Mac OS X 10.5 X11R7. It is included with Apple's Xcode distribution, or you can download the latest version at http://developer.apple.com/technology/xcode.html

OTOH: I could be completely off, and he wants iTunes 4.11 for a party. The latest version of iTunes is 7.7
