Welfare was intended to help, but the rules stated that a man couldn't be in the home. Well, we see how that turned out. Single mothers in the black community did come from slavery*. It came in the form a non solution that avoided addressing the real issue. Affirmative action is the same way. It was intended to help equal the playing field in corporate america for black people, now it helps everybody BUT black people. Why? If the federal government passed a bill that stated, in the spirit of reparations, All African Americans are tax exempt for a period of 20 years, free education to a HBCU (up to 4 years), and free health care for life; would you, in your spirit of OPPOSITION to reparations OPT OUT and decline to accept said reparations?

The painful part of reparations is dealing with how VAST the slave trade was. The fact is that a part of the reparations movement includes going after multinational companies as well. Governments may be limited by their borders but companies that we KNOW were involved could be held for damages. There are several slave participation disclosures that are on the books now.
