Damn Black People Really Don't Get It!!!

this is the bullshit that i'm talking about, 99% of these motherfuckers are white washed and ain't shit you can do about it.

thats the shit that kills me.

If you handed out a survey to a hispanic community and as the last question you asked "Whats your race (Check one) Black or White" 99% of these muh'fuckaz would check off "White"...even the David Ortiz looking ones...the self hate is sickening.

I always tell 'em your ass is black too, they just dropped you off first...

Your argument is with those Hispanic mother fuckas, even though a lot of Black Americans are in the same boat.
A lot of Hispanics are brainwashed into associating being Black with being poor, so they don't want to be Black.

I remember reading an article about Pele (the blue Black soccer player) who answered a question with
"When I used to be Black....."

A lot of the Puerto Ricans in New York know their Black history.

We know very well of our skin tone. Although we have accents we are not stupid. We know we are black but we also know where we come from. When white people ask what I am I tell them Black then they ask where am I from I tell them puerto rico then they laugh and say "oh you are puerto rican then, not black". The ignorance of that statement used to frustrate me.

To all my brothers, we are all brothers and depite what a lot think we do cherish our history but we also cherish our experience in our homeland. We were raised to be puerto rican, in puerto rico or any other country if someone asks what are you if you say black they will look at you weird. It's not the same like in america where we are labeled and culturally known by skin tone. It takes a while for many latinos to understand the difference of culture in order to state they aren't disowning their race by having pride in their nationality. But americans need to understand it as well.

The ignorance of those white people amazes me. Had you said you were from ... say California, they wouldn't have said, 'oh you're not Black, you're American.'

I agree. We all need to unite against the other man. Their asses should be rounded up and sent back to Europe.

Sorry to hear that but.
I really think you failed to comprehend what he was saying. I think he's talking about the fact that some of them deny that they are black when it is clearly evident. And then some of them really believe that they are better than black americans because they or their parents came from an island. Some of them even get offended if you describe or refer to them as black. And everybody wants to be anything but black, anything but black. When we all came from the same place. I had a dominican guy (black as night) sit there and argue me down telling me he was not black and then called me a mutt because im a black american. When he wasn't even from DR his parents were. :smh:

What kind of history is taught on the islands that they can so easily ignore that part of their geneological heritage. Hmmm

Don't care where you come from
As long as you're a black man
You're an African

No mind your nationality
You have got the identity of an African

'Cause if you come from Clarendon

And if you come from Westmoreland
You're an African

CHORUS
No mind your nationality
You've got the identity of an African

'Cause if you come Trinidad
And if you come from Nassau
And if you come from Cuba
You're an African

CHORUS
No mind your complexion
There is no rejection
You're an African

'Cause if your plexion
High(3x)
If your complexion low, low, low
And if your plexion in between
You're an African

During the time of the European conquest of the Americas, the Taino population, the Indians of Hispaniola [Dominican Republic], was reduced from eight million to 200, in 30 years. There were about 90 - 100 million Native and Hispanic Indians slaughtered during that time.

There is a difference between your race, (what you are), and your nationality (where you are born). When you put them together as well as your immediate descent you get labels like "African-American". I got a friend who is the first of her parents children to be born in America, (they immigrated from Haiti), and to this day she considers herself "Haitian-American".

As much as I agree that Black is Black all we can do to spread the word and teach others is to make sure that our children know the truth.

There is something to understand. Nationality is more important than race or color. It's all about pride for native country. As Nergo/black you go to South African, or any of African country..yes you are Black!! but you not South African!!!!!
Black is color but nationality gives more pride and you have to understand it is the same for whites people too and every race. You get the same problem too with Polish and eastern European vs the western Europeans who are white also..you can tell them you are white and they will reply..No..I am Polish or German.

Look at the Arabs and some East Indians, they look the same, and you can not tell them apart. Japanese and Chinese, Koreans...you can not tell that easy too...I am just been fair.

Have you heard a Guyanese or Jamaican Chinese saying I am yellow Jamaican or yellow Guyanese? NO! They are Chinese Jamaican or Chinese guyanese. These race issues are complicated when it comes to national pride.

My point is, I am sure few of us on these board have met some Jamaican who are either east indian, or white or chinese who clearly do not think they are nothing but Jamaican.

i feel ole boi on this one, i totally feel what the op is saying, but on a different note, america has made us decifer the difference between being black and white, well maybe not america, but culture period. but in many countries there is no difference... in many countries ur either for instance, puerto rico, ur either puerto rican or not... and it's the same in other countries... many can argue this point, but i for one am black, not african american, and i'm not saying that because i shun my roots or anything like that, the truth is honestly i dont know what the hell i am. All life originated in africa, so in essence we are all africans, but i never stepped foot on the continent, neither my mom, her mom, or her mom.. thas bout as far as i can trace, and i dont know shit bout my dad. so we are so quick to claim stuff that we really dont know, well that is for those that's in the same boat as me... if u know that ur heritage is originally from africa and u claim to be african american or just african its different but for me,... i'm black.... and for dude in my quote, he puerto rican

my mom always says she didn't know she was Black until she came to this country, man. Back in the Dom. Rep. she was just a Dominican. Shit, my uncles actual names are Negro (black) and Moreno (brown)...but no one looks down on them for it, they're just Dominican

The problem with America is all this hyphenation. Why can't people just be American. (i know it's an old argument, but i think it holds weight)

thank you someone with common sense. ya partner you arnt black cause you wasnt born in africa, your not black your american.lol at cunts who think race and country are the same,so an african who moves to peurto rico is a latino huh??

Nice try, but we are American. When most Black people go overseas they identify themselves as such. There's NO confusion there.

And to all the other cats that struggle with reading comprehension, this thread isn't saying that Puerto Ricans aren't Puerto Ricans, it's saying that they are Black as well. Stop lying to yourselves and admit there are MANY who won't acknowledge this FACT.

my argument is that there is too much hyphenation within the country. overseas, sure, we're Americans. But here, it's not the case

In the Dom. Rep., people are just Dominican. Not Chinese-Dominican, or any other bullshit

DR is not the US.

The US has a history as being a 'melting pot' there's NOTHING wrong with retaining a piece of your heritage by referring to yourself (while amongst other Americans) as an Italian American or an Irish American, or a Japanese-American, .....

And we are Americans here. We celebrate the 4th just like everybody else. We say "Bring our Troops home" just like everybody else.

In Brazil, race and class are correlated. A "Black" Brazilian and legally become "White" if he or she attains wealth or fame. Money whitens, as they say.

He who has the gold makes the rules. Sad as it may be when latinos become the majority they will decide what's the racial status quo. Bet on black because when African Americans, dark-skinned Latinos, Indians and Asians are combined there's a Black majority.

Spanish Inflience was WAY different than Brittish or French culture... so they are culturally VERY different... but cats come form Africa, aint no denying that. "moreno" is the term.... fyi

:lol:SOME of Y'all still don't get it:lol:...and what with this I'm American bullshit:hmm:...when we're being treated like shit in this country:smh:

We going to break this shit down. I don't give a fuck if you dont like me after this thread because I'm about to speak the truth. I'm sick and tired of People acting like Dominicans, puerto ricans, cubans is a RACE !!!! In order to explain this, you have to go back during slavery. Slaves weren't just shipped to American. People forget that slaves was shipped all around the world. Places like the West Indies, Europe, and etc. All islands in the Caribbeans at some point were, and a few still are, colonies of European nations; a few are overseas or dependent territories: People also forget that the first slaves in America weren't black, they were indians(Native Americans). The indians slaves from America was shipped to the Caribbean islands. That's why we have Danish west indies, dutch west indies, french west indies, spanish west indies and the swedish west indies. But they started to die off and couldn't handle the stress of labor. So what did they do, they went to Africa and shipped them to the same places. Ok we all know this, so what right? But what people dont know is that the master was breeding the Africans with the indians to make more slaves. And then he couldn't help himself and started to fuck his slaves(house nigga). so hispanics are nothing but a mixed race of BLACK, WHITE, AND INIDIANs. So if you are a black man from puerto rico, it doesn't mean that you not black:angry:. It just means that you are a black man that was born in puerto rico:lol:. And the same for all the other countries.

I was sayin' this for a minute now, but some dudes still refuse to understand that fairly simple logic.

Your post is absolutely on point.

Same with biracial cats mixing nationalities and skin color. You aren't half-black and half- French, you're half-black and half-white/yellow/red/whatever or half of each nationality. :)
