Has any of you SOL'ers gotten any work done?

Boob job, breast reduction, butt lift, vaginal rejuvenation, chemical peels, tummy tuck, liposuction, etc? What was your experience? Painful? Regretful?

I am saving for some procedures to improve my skin. I am thinking of chemical peels to address hyper-pigmentation. I want to continue laser hair removal that I stopped after I got sick. And I have tiny skin tags that no one notices but me but I want them gone.

Is anyone absolutely against cosmetic procedures be it invasive or not?

Ooopppps. No I haven't gotten anything done. I misread the original question. I used to seriously go back and forth about having my breasts done because of my back & neck pain. Right now I decided that it's not worth the risk of going under and my pain is controlled most of the time. Also trying different brands of bras and adjusting the band & shoulder straps has helped.

I am 100% against getting surgery out of pure vanity.

Go for it if it makes you feel better. I've always wanted microdermabrasion even though thats not really a surgery and I would never rule out a breast lift when I start to age or a tummy tuck after children.

I always said that if I get older, after I have kids if my boobs start to sag, I'll get them put back in place, lol...

I'm not against it, if you can afford it. Cosmetic surgery should not be financed... it is not a necessity, but thats just how I feel....

I'd like to have more info on laser hair removal...

What are skin tags?

I'm not against it..although some people do take cosmetic surgery too far and completely alter their images...but hey, it's their money..I wouldn't mind getting a G spot shot...Don't think it's considered cosmetic but that's all I can think of wanting for now. My kids actually gave me more of a shape than what I had before...My stretch marks aren't terrible but I would like to have them fade...I never looked into that though...

I am not against it for other people, but I don't believe I would ever get anything done. As far as a chemical peel, make sure you get an African-American dermatologist. A friend of mine got one (she's Asian) and it burned her face up pretty bad. She had a lot of scarring after the procedure. She said she would never get it done again. A lot of those procedures are designed for Caucasian skin.

hmmm probably a chemical peel cuz my skin has been on some "other shit" in recent years...but its not "bad" but not its usual self if that makes sense

boob reduction n lift

for 2 whole seconds i thought about foot surgery (more so b/c i was amazed there was an actual surgery) but that quickly went out the door...and no i don't have ugly feet:corns, bunions and such...i just have big feet...DANG BIG FEET HAVIN PARENTS

i just get tired of droppin a gazillion dollars on stylish shoes but ehhh u gotta pay for quality so it is what it is.

I'm very seriously considering getting my breasts reduced...in fact, I have a consultation this month! :)

I say life is short...if it makes you happy, go for it. Well...everything in moderation though.

what in the world is a g spot shot?

ah ok...google is my friend.

Welcome to G-Spot Amplification™

The G-SHOT® (clinical description: G-Spot Amplification® or GSA®), is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily augment the Grafenburg spot (G-Spot) in sexually active women with normal sexual function.

GSA is a patent pending method of amplifying or augmenting the G-Spot with a human engineered collagen, which is FDA approved. To make this collagen, it is carefully treated and preserved, and is then supplied to physicians in a form that can be injected. The collagen is a natural, biological substance.

no i'm not interested in it personally...maybe yall don't remember my tat/piercing comments when we talked about it in XAT or yall weren't there....I AM SCARED OF NEEDLES...so do you REALLY think imma get a needle to the G-spot every coupla however being that its temporary? HELLLLLLL TO THE NAWWW

plus as of now in my life, i don't have a need for that type of surgery

but

i'm interested in the procedure cuz i'm curious person...hence the name;)

plastic surgery is for white women who hate themselves. :hmm:

if non-white women could afford having the surgery, access to great doctors and the time to recoup from surgery, do u think that they wouldn't get down with the surgery at a rate similar to white women?

I agree. With the exceptions of breast reduction in extreme cases (:(), breast reconstruction after a mastectomy, and excess skin removal as a result of excessive weight loss. Anything other than that is ridiculous.

so me wanting to get a boob reduction just cuz i want a smaller size (not b/c of back pain) is ridiculous?

granted i agree that some of the INTENTIONS ppl have for getting COSMETIC surgery bother me but i don't think just plain out plastic surgery is ridiculous...especially when your saying its ridiculous based off of ethnicity.

Most women of color that get plastic surgery, besides those exceptions I listed, do so to achieve some standard of white beauty.

Kind of, depends on how big your breasts are, like I said extreme cases. If you're a DD wanting to go to a C, well, yeah I think so. You can sweat off titties, if you choose to.

I don't fuck with White women, but if I did, I would say the same thing.

This is true sometimes. That is when the breast is primary fat, and the fat can be liposuction-ed out. Much easier procedure.

However, some people have an excess of mammary gland, which has nothing to do with fat. You cannot burn off mammary.

thats the problem with alot of black people. following after white folks like that shit is cool. you dont think that risking your life to go under the knife just so you can get more attention (in most cases) is not a good idea? i dont fault crackas cause thats how they are built, but i hold black women to a higher standard.

1) how is getting cosmetic surgery in general following after white folks? yes u have those who chase a European standard of beauty but im talking about in general?

2) me personally...for me to go under the knife...it would have to be major, well research and planned...with that being said...cosmetic surgery is safer than some of the risk we take everyday just being alive and mobile

3) more attention? some people get surgery to get LESS attention or a DIFFERENT kind of attention...it isn't necessarily on some "look at me" type shit

4) just on the basic conversation of attention...black women just like every other type of woman and man wants attention and ppl take different actions to get that attention whether it be go under the knife, boast materialistic gain, sound off on the "megaphone" about sexual conquest or go thru a lot of schooling to be able to say ur "educated"...pick ur poison

my whole issue w/ the white woman vs black woman thing is that these type of arguments put ppl into these boxes and take away their multifaceted complexities.

I think you get it like every 4 monts....Yeah I hate needles too but it can't be as bad as delivering a child naturally!!...The list of effects are long!!!....Not sure...I would like to try it once since I normally don't have reactions to things...

I have had to explain that to a few people over the years....fat vs mammary glands.....Personally I dont discriminate. My experience is that the ones with a little to much fatty tissue jiggle more when i a bra..which i love to see.

What a trip is that my current had hers done before we met. Now they are all mammary....full and round. Oh, her nipples are readily visible when erect since the reduction....and one tends to want to get erect more than the other.

My ex needs one because if she looses the weight they will probably loose their fatty tissue. At the same time, they are one of the reasons she doesn't work out.

Thanks girl. But I think I'm good. I've gotten tons of referrals from sistas here in the A who've had them done and swear by em.

I've had a microdermabrasion done....hated it...thank god I didn't pay for it...

if u don't mind me asking

what was ur skin's condition b4?
what were u expecting/ lead to believe?
what actually happened?

did u go to a black derm or did they say the procedure was safe for AA skin?

I have combination skin, but slightly oily

I really didn't expect anything, nor lead to believe anything. I do understand that it is a process that will take more than 1 treatment to see results...

nothing happened...it was just uncomfortable. The machine itself uses sand particles that exfoliate the face and then sucks the sand and dead skin off. It really hurt under my eyes (the thinnest part of your face) and my cheeks

I'm a student esthetician, so as part of our training, we have to experience all of the services the school offers. In our training, skin color didn't come up as a reason to be cautious since it's not invasive and no lasers were used. But I could be wrong...I'm going to have to do research

Oh wow. . that might not be bad. . . but it sounds like it might be painful.

Cosign. . the only time I want to go under the knife is when absolutely necessary. . i.e. injury, etc.

Some non-invasive cosmetic procedures are a little scary to me also. I'm ok with myself. . . only minor changes for me.
