Stan Hansen is a retired American professional wrestler. Hansen spent much of his career wrestling in All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. He is best known for his stiffness, which he attributes to his very poor eye sight, as he is nearly blind without glasses; as a result, in order to avoid his work from appearing too fake, he overcompensated with ultrareal strikes.

Yeah he was a beast! In alot of japanese wrestling video games I play that sunofabitch is a tough cookie LOL!!!!

what japanese wrestling video games you got and for what system??

Here's the Hogan slam

JBL=Swagger jacker.:yes:

Did you ever see the match where he's wrestling Vader and he hit him so hard Vaders eye popped out??

What was crazier was Vader pushed the eye back in and KEPT WRESTLING.

this thread is crazy.

1st, who "won" the match between stan what's-his-name and andre the giant.

2nd, i watched the video with the guy who pushed his eye back in, but i didn't see him get hit in the face. he had his opponent prone, and then next thing you know he's getting up and taking his mask off.

i haven't really watched wrestling since i was a kid, but it seems like american audiences really enjoy the drama and theater of the matches, while the japanese audiences are looking for the blood and gore.

I believe it was Andre. Andre didn't let you win unless he liked you. Anyway, that was part of the whole 15-year win streak they brag about.

The tape of the Vader pushing his eye in was edited. When he got hit, he slid out of the ring and pushed it back in. (They didn't want that shit shown.)

The Japanese have a more physical, reality based style. Hell, the results are posted in the Sports page of Japanese newspapers.

When Hulk Hogan wrestles in Japan, he wrestles a totally different style. (more mat based.) Not the cartoonish style you see in America.

Hogan vs. Muta

This is some of the stuff they do in Japan, but is too dangerous in America:

I don't agree with this list, but:

Watch Doctor Death make this dude 3 inches shorter:

Good shit Rollie... I was thinking the same thing about JBL... But all those Texas wrestlers all have a similar look to me... The Windhams, The Mulligans, The Funks, The Rhodes and so forth... I think he's just carrying on the texas wrestling tradition (big country brawler types)...

Hogan vs. Muta

I just watched this match last week and was blown that Hogan actually showed some skill. Too bad WCW never used Muta to his full potential. One thing I do remember, Sting just could not beat him, here or in Japan.

Yo, Muta is my favorite Japanese wrestler. Even though he got the gimmick from wrestlers like Kabuki, no one in Japanese wrestling is more ripped off.

Ever since he lost his hair he's come up with some crazy new masks and outfits. That would scare the SHIT out of me if I was a little kid.

Watch him put the fear of GOD/Budda/Allah/Jehovah into this kid..probably has nightmares for weeks.

One of the most creative ring entrances I've seen in a minute:

Muta > Undertaker:yes:

Muta > Undertaker:yes:

:smh::smh::smh:

May be favoritism here, but that wasn't even better than Taker's entrance in WM24...And that wasn't among his best ones, either...

And about that Hansen dude, that was an impressive slam, but Andre was more in-shape then compared to WM3. He probably weighed significantly more when he faced Hogan (c/s what Ruff Rhymes is saying)

hogan had a japanese trainer so of course he could wrestle but in the us he didnt need to do that to be over

I wish American Profesional Wrestling would take on a more serious realistic approach to wrestling.

I think the days of over exagerration are over

JBL is a fat sloppy loser

Didn't say it was better..just creative. Muta does entraces like that every night, while the Undertaker wrestles for six weeks and takes the rest of the year off.

THIS was a good slam on Andre. (and he was at his biggest.)

More impressive visuals: Brock Lesnar Vs. the Big Show:

Goldberg Vs. The Big Show:

I don't have footage, but other good slams was Bobby Lashley with a running powerslam on the Big Show.

I was watching MSG last night, and they show some old wrestling matches that took place at the Garden. They had a 20 man battle royal, which Sid Justice one by cheating (of course, ref gets knocked out blah blah blah). It was from 1992. Thats when wrestling was good. It was ironic that during this match Big Boss Man and Davey Boy Smith were fighting each other (both died). It was entertaining.

umm...Stan aint the only one to slam Andre...

I've seen all three Vader/Hansen matches and they're very violent, realistic matches that's a borderline shoot.

Saw Hansen here in Charlotte last year at the annual Fanfest and he's trimmed down a lot, probably under 250 lbs.
