True, nothing is "hosted" here, and items can be found elsewhere, but you are paying for CONVENIENCE and ACCESS. Why do you go to Walmart or BJ's for groceries, clothes, medicines, and electronics instead of 10 different stores? CONVENIENCE. The same people complaining about $10/year are paying $60+/month for ACCESS to the FREE INTERNET.

its really the principle of the matter. i have a decent job, making a decent wage, no outstanding bills or debt. but im also not trying to be conned. when u walk past a panhandler on the street, do u drop money into his top hat, or do u keep walking? i dont know what u do, but i keep walking because i know that panhandler is gonna spend my hard earned money on something that benefits him, instead of on a shirt and tie for a job interview. same thing is applied here. we know that the donations will exceed the expense. we also know that the donations are annually, and any extra funds received wont be applied to the following years server bill. so if people want someone to con them, they can go ahead and pay for the opportunity to share free material. but as for me, whether its $10,000 or .10, your money is your money.

I get what you're saying and you have a good point. But the problem with that analogy is that the government is supposed to be accountable to the people. A web site is not it is primarily a business and does not have the same accountability.
That being said I do think the fee will have a negative affect on the site due to the fact that alternatives will fill the void, the fee requires that a high level of quality be maintained and there is so much free porn online that I don't need to come here to get it.
I like BGOLs other attributes as well like all the clowning talk on politics and brothers giving other brothers a heads up on whats going on etc. A fee will likely kill those things and I can't find that on another forum. Hope I'm wrong though.
