Where did you go to college, and would you recommend it to others?

Went to Rice University in Houston. And even though I am black (160 blacks out of 2500 when I went), I still enjoyed it and would recommend it. We had the University of Houston and Texas Southern near by for extra entertainment. Rice is known as the Ivy League school of the south.

Sorry man, I like Rice and all, but HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. "Ivy League of the South". Sorry bruh. Nobody believes that but y'all. Do y'all put that on brochures??? "COME TO RICE UNIVERSITY....The Ivy League School of the South". :roflmao2:

what would be your best way of sleeping and eating habits while in a dorm room?

Eating- Like dude said, Foreman grill is a must. Get the small one that you can fit two nice burgers on and hide that shit. Also, man make friends with the chefs in the dining halls. That shit helped a nigga out a lot when he didn't get a meal plan. Shiiiiit, that was money in my pocket. And go to EVERY study break you can, no matter if that shit is like the Young Republican Society. They will have free food and MORE food than they need. Stack up and take it home. Put it in your two mini-fridges. Call it a day.

Sleeping- Get a single. If you can't get a single...I dunno.

Does anybody know about UNC @ Charlotte , or any of the surrounding schools of charlotte, nc worth anything?

I played my college ball here....

No, I wouldn't recommend it. If it wasn't for a full ride, I wouldn't have gone.

Probably gonna get my masters from there also, get my tuition remission on!

Oh yeah, I definitely would recommend it to others, New Brunswick though, bump Newark and Camden!! LOL

Especially if you are into the sciences...RU is a big research university. Each of the 5 campuses on the main campus in New Brunswick has something to offer.

I def would recommend it..but DEF get involved in student orgs and other parts of the university because it pays off more than you think. (scholarship, networking, conferences, free stuff, references, improves leadership capabilities, and so on)

we study hard and we party hard ;)

Does anybody know about UNC @ Charlotte , or any of the surrounding schools of charlotte, nc worth anything?

Location: Athens, Georgia

Would I Recommend? Yes.

Why?

The University of Georgia Ranked #20 out of the top 50 public universities 9 years straight. UGA also ranks 58th overall (public and private) in the US, it's also considered to be a "Public Ivy", and we have 21 Rhodes Scholars as of this year and you know sports here is a huge thing, UGA has seven top ten rankings in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Director's Cup, a numerical ranking based on the success of universities in all varsity sports (I know you all remember how we almost had the BCS last season but got screwed over). UGA is also the #5 party school in the nation, and has a VERY strong Greek System.

So, You get the best of both worlds here!!!
Strong Academics and an Unbelievable Social scene.

and y'know...
Many say, it's The Best College Town in the USA, and I wholeheartedly agree.

R.I.P. to our mascot, UGA VI.

Soon to be...

Location: Coral Gables, Florida (An affluent Miami Suburb, barely outside of the City).

Would I Recommend? Yes.

Why?

UMiami has top-tier academics, consistently ranked in the top academic tier of most national rankings of colleges and universities (52nd among 254 National Universities), 66% of UM students ranked in the top 10% of their high school class. UMiami has a beautiful campus (best I've seen), Career Placement Ranked #17 nationally (They really help you get your foot in the door), and The old dean of the #1 Ranked Wharton school of Business at UPenn took over the head position at UMiami's School of Business Administration.

Not to mention, GREAT sports (more football championships than any school in the nation, the current #1 Baseball team, and a top Basketball team, and has produced more NFL players than any school in the US), with a great sense of school spirit!!!

UMiami boasts The BEST looking females you'll ever see on any college campus!, it's only 9 minutes from South Beach, one of the most diverse schools in the US (students represent all 50 states and 148 foreign countries). The WEATHER is great, The vibe of Miami is amazing, the school offers everything you could want and more with The Great City of Miami as your playground!!!

I graduated in May, AND I'm one of the few people I know that managed to make it out of Statesboro without a criminal record. Even my baby mama got hemmed up.

I came out in 03 and havent been to the boro since, kuntry muthufuckas:smh: shoullda took my ass to ga st.

It's odd, I hear so much about UMichigan and all but not too many people posting here went. And I'm surprised not to hear any Ohio State's. Likely still sore from that ass whoopin.

If I could get in, I'd love to go to Michigan, but I can't afford a semester of that bitch, especially with this economy.

And I, for the most part, agree with the statement of who you know in college. That's one thing UVA, Michigan, the Ivy league and all the other top Private schools have going for em. Legacy and renown. Just having that name alone is excellent, but having connections to all those damn CEO's and shit? Pfft. Makes it worth it I guess.

Exactly what ass whoopin are you referring to :confused::confused:

Ohio State has defecated on Michigan for four straight years.

If you have any kind of artistic ambitions then go to Ex'pression College in Emeryville CA. You can get a bachelors or applied sciences in only 2 1/2 years. The staff is very friendly and the courses have been broken down to be as easy as possible. If your game is tight and you play your cards right it's very easy to get access to some incredible women. They even have a free shuttle service from ghost town. Pixar is right down the block. Lucasfilm is down the street. Los Angeles is a short drive away. do the right thing. Go to Ex'pression.

God DAMN !!! explain this shit , is she a lawyer at Geico ?

it's all about passing the bar. plenty of people get out of law school only to fail the bar. the real question is how much is she making? cause regardless a law grad can still make money without going into law. the degree itself opens up doors.

now if you went to a law school with a pedigree and had good grades, you can get in at a good law firm (even making six figures) but you have a year (maybe two) to pass the bar or you're out. that fucks people up because they get used to a certain lifestyle that they may or may not be able to maintain.

ya to my bama peeps how is stillman college?

Yeah, Stillman is hood and the Prez aint shit. I graduated in 2005 from there and the enrollment was tryin to get up there back when I first got there. They put in a bunch of bullshit rules and raised the tuition like every year so people got to be like fuck it. Then they would do good the first semester on enrollment, but then people would disappear by second semester due to problems with registration, bookstore never got books when you need them, and it take them bitches months to cut your damn refund check. I'm an Alum and they be sendin me shit to donate money back to the campus. For what??? They aint doin shit to help better the experience for the students, so thats a no go....

dont go !!! Its very small, high tuition, and the students dont go there to learn. Go to UA.

Enrollment at stillman continues to drop, and half the dorms are barely populated

Yeah.... go to UA. You will still have access to Stillman and the chicks that go to Stillman (the young ones like to fuck with the UA cats so their business aint all over Stillman's campus). Also, I was there when they closed down like half the dorms on campus. They did that shit for no reason. It affected enrollment as well.

UAB (University of Alabama-Birmingham). Great school if your focused on healthcare, one of the top medical schools in the country. Probably get my masters from there. Got a good business school as well. Wasnt called the blazers for nothing, ninjas stayed getting high 24/7

Nice campus, it's a pretty good mix of races, a lot of international students too. I'm in the Computer Science program, so math is kicking my ass, but other than that it's all good.

The only down side is theres nothing to do in Troy, or any of the surrounding areas; especially if you don't like clubbing.

C/S
transferring from Stillman to here was the best choice I could possibly make.

#54 on the prestigious "America’s Best Colleges"

Good education, excellent location, growing academic reputation.

However, most expensive school in the nation and still not diverse enough.

Very proud alum though.

Rutgers University - Camden Campus, undergrad
Georgia Southern University, grad school

would recommend them both

You forgot to mention that you guys have the best dorms in the fucking United States!!!

How did you keep up with tuition?
Scholarships?

Academics are shitty and no one seems to care....compared to other schools our resources ain't shit..i haven't learned shit about my major down here(IT)if it wasn't for certs i would be fucked....

the on-campus environment is hood students and locals(but i guess that what happens when you don't have requirements) ...police quick to hand out parking tickets on campus but when somebody gets robbed or shot they take their time....no on-campus activities you can definitely pick up a drug habit down here out of boredom...faculty have the shittiest attitudes.....i can go on for days

going to state was the worst decision i ever made.....:smh:

and if you wanna know why i didn't transfer its because other schools won't accept credits from Alabama State and i'm not about to start all over....

fam born and raised in gtown. that school is a straight shit hole. most of my fam graduated from ASU mainly in education which is one of their best programs. Got a aunt that teach history there. Man unless your grades were shit going to ASU was like your last resort on some real shit. Your ass can make a 10 on the ACT and get into ASU. High aids cases, wack ass dorms, shootings, etc. Ninjas come down from cali, detroit, and other places and start hustling.

:roflmao2:

You wayyyyy out of line for that shit!

Rice is as ACADEMICALLY ELITE as they come; you must not know very much about Upper-Tier Colleges to make those statements.
