The most amazing thing about this man is that he is well-studied and puts everything in Biblical and historical perspective. He holds no anger. I wish all men of the cloth of all races were like this. I wish Barack Obama had taken more time to think before he "rebuked" the statements by Reverend Wright. The first thing I thought of was Peter denying Jesus. And then when he made his powerful speech, he said "my former pastor". THE MAN WHO BAPTIZED YOU! Your "former" pastor? Well at least he said "Pastor Wright is 'like' family". Love you like a play cousin...

The truth is Martin Luther King cheated on his wife multiple times but you don't see anyone thinking it's a good time to air that laundry! I don't hate but come very close to hating Wright for being so selfish as to reopen this bullshit only to make himself look good. If he cared what people thought he wouldn't have said the inflammatory statements he said that started all this. I blame Obama mostly for attending his church. Always be mindful of the company you keep. I truly believe Rev. Wright has been paid to sabotage this man's campaign. Obama in no way bashed him he did what he had to do to continue in this campaign while being as forthcomming as possible.


Wright is down with Louis Farrakhan? I'll be surprised if Obama can recover from the damage this guys new statements will cause. He thinks explaining the sound bite in full makes it better. He believes 9-11 is our just deserts for wars in the past? Obama should steer clear of this guy if he wants to win.

I bet you would want to speak out and get the truth out if you and your family were getting death threats. If he was doing this for attention and selfishness he would have been making appearances all of this time. And every religion and religious leader has faults. A man is just a man. Louis Farrakhan speaks truth a lot of the time and adds his own life experience a lot of the time. The point of being a thinking adult is to figure out what makes sense and what is BS. Barack Obama has a lot of issues going on in his campaign and most of the stem from him going on the defensive all the time. And what does MLK have to do with this right now? A lot of men cheat. Liberation theology is not a separatist movement. You obviously have never been to an Afrocentric church. The goal is to apply the word to your daily life and in doing so free yourself and each other. If you watch the video I posted Reverend Wright explains very clearly the goal of his church. Fox News is known for flaming and interrupting their guests and Rev. Wright was not having it. Notice how the host allowed the white guy to speak uninterrupted, but would not allow Rev. Wright to explain his point of view.

And another thing. Reverend Wright did not reopen anything. These people have been talking about it this whole time. They've been trying to get Barack Obama to address it. Hilary and McCain have tried to use the issue to their advantage. Those Youtube videos were up long before this campaign, his church members put them up. But now people are hunting down the church members and threatening them? He had to speak up

No I have never been to an Afrocentric church and I don't plan to. And yes, it's not news to anyone that FOX news sucks. However this is a very strange and unique situation and Reverand Wrights comments have been put under a microscope. Unfortunately we all may suffer do to his inability to get his point across without putting down other races. Albeit unfair for them to loop statements he made seven years ago he is in the public eye and along with that comes great scrutiny. I most likely say a few racist statements myself between the time I rise and before I lay it down. But I am not and will never proclaim to be a leader/teacher of people who are later affected by my statements. Reverand Wright recieved death threats because his statements were just that powerful and damaging. And it's a free country he can say what he wants but Obama must distance himself from this guy if we are ever going to see a black president. Obama needs the black vote but he cannot win without the white vote he IMO is doing a good job staying true to himself without putting other races down. I know you believe what you believe which is why you posted his interview in a positive light. But I believe what I believe which is why I'm responding the way I am. I am in a profession where I have to treat racist people black and racist whites. I have to turn a blind eye to how I feel when they share their polorized beliefs with me. I will never stand behind a preacher or any leader who doesn't do what they need to do to heal the seperatist way of thinking. As charge nurse I've had clients tell me they need to see the "head nurse" assuming that due to my color I couldn't possibly be the one in charge. Racism is here but we don't need to provoke it the way he is doing in his sermons. Obama is offering a change and this guy teaches that whites won't vote for Obama because he isn't made of the right things the way Hillary is. I never said he is doing this for attention. I said he is being selfish he wants his side out but when you do listen to the entire soundbite it's no better than the looped clip. His explanation to his church is that 9-11 occurred because of our past wars with other countries. His congregation came to him for an explanation and instead of turning to his bible he blurts out insinuations that in no way consoled those hurt and confused by 9-11. I am impressed by his past. He has done things none of us will ever do. But Obama may achieve something noone has ever done. I want to live to see the first black president who IMO may be our greatest president. Malcom X was the leader I looked up to the most while growing up. He helped me to see why we won't work as a country divided. But being that you are backing Louis Farrakhan I will understand if you don't or refuse to get this. What continent is at war the most? Africa. Why? Because they are the most divided they have more countries that I care to remember, doesn't that tell us something? We have to put pride aside and not "assimilate" but learn to get along together without tearing the other down. I want Hillary to drop out not because she is white but because she would "suck" as a president.

Oh and what does MLK have to do with this right now? MLK is why Obama has the chance to run for president in the first place. He has everything to do with right now. When I was younger a friend of mine's grandmother had pictures of MLK and when I asked why her grandaughter told me she used to see him secretly back in the day. After hearing this I was a tad confused but I still loved MLK. I then realized why some things are better left unsaid. His destiny was more important than his weaknesses. Wright should straighten this out after the election, unless he wants to apologize for his statements. You can't teach someone during a crisis. The teaching comes after the storm. Right now we just need a win for Obama and like I said before his timing is selfish.

I know you will never know where you are going if you can't forget where you come from but if you think constantly reminding white people that their ancestors enslaved blacks will bring us a black president than you are sadly mistaken. Obama has addressed racism by speaking about change. Not by begging for sympathy from whites by playing re-runs of Eyes on the Prize. I can't forget my heritage no more than I can wipe the ebony hue from my skin or the "bad credit" from my record. But Reverand Wrights statements are wrong and inflammatory and if he can't admit it he needs to shut up. (at least till after the election)

I used to think Presidents have no power it's just something folks do for reasons I'll never know. I thought this untill I started paying $4 per gallon at the pump. And I thought this until I went to financial aid office and although my financial status had not changed, they told me I wasn't poor enough to qualify for the same aid I had been getting for three years prior. I know Bush and his camp caused all these things to occur in my life. I will no longer think the presidency isn't powerful.

I do want to add I respect you and even thank you "FOLLOWUP" for even having an opinion not only be unafraid to express it. I'm pretty sure you will respond but I am now respectfully leaving this thread because I really don't log on to argue and religion, politics and sexual orientation are some of the worst arguments to have.
