Confessions of an Economic Hitman

i'm listening to the audio book right now. Very interesting thus far.
That -ish is 3x's Dope, son. Why are there no questions about the US's role in trying to assassinate and/or kidnap Cahvez to snatch oil in any of the debates? I guess wearing a F-N pin is more important. Hmmmm...

man we have so much information on bgol, but what good is it if we do nothing?
At this point I really don't think it is a mater of us doing "nothing". I pass on A LOT of information that I get here and that I contribute. Friends pass things on to others and I actually get very good dialogue between people who 1. Were sheep and 2. NEVER even knew that this stuff was going on. Sending them "factual" articles to support claims is HUGE today.

Yes, you can call your Congressman, help with voter registration, become an activist. I say, a "start" is changing the minds of the sheeple who are the first wave of ignorace that you face every day. But that's just me.

Peace.

How Is ThE GUY Who Wrote This Still Walking??? Where The Jackals AT - Should'nt He Be DEad Already For Saying Too Much??

Not to say that he won't depart us prematurely soon, but I really think that those in power feel that the information he presents is too much for the masses to digest.

If I told you that Bush, an oil baron, would have US oil prices triple in 8 years in office you probably (if you are not a cynic like me) said "no way. Congress or citizens would be on top of that". This info is so straightforward and glaring that it boggles the mind when you really comprehend what he is saying. Why is Chavez "evil" for freeing up other South American neighbors from the interest on World Bank loans? There are a hundred questions you could ask about our so-called enemies that will have you REALLY looking at us.

I agree man - I'm going to buy this book ... I just got that Enron documentary and it looks good.

Keep doing your thing.

 it ain't like that fam., I just want both. I have friends that need this info. and sometimes giving it to them in an audio book is better then in a PDF format. If they don't read it they can at least listen to it. If they don't do either, they can't say I didn't try.

Do what you gotta do fam, can't say you didn't try (like you mentioned).

If anyone is able to provide audio that would be greatly appreciated by the posters/lurkers in this thread.

One question keeps nagging at me...how is this guy still alive?

Great thread 'cane

Good vid info kaya
For fellow posters, you can download the youtube videos by going to www.keepvid.com and putting in the video url.
It will save it as a .flv file and it can be opened using VLC player.
You never know if google will pull these videos so its best to save them

^^^^

Blessing every time.

That video is from one of my favorite songs from Anthony B

I don't want to hear sad story
Because the damage has already been done...

This content may be old but it still holds considerable importance. A number of posters such as Kayanation, WorldEx, and Boro along with others have brought up the economic plight many nations are now currently facing with the elevated price in food. This very topic was posted awhile ago but the youtube video discussing its content was down. So here is a reup of the youtube video with the author of the acclaimed book discussing it more in detail.

*Props to themainman for reminding me about this from a post he made*

Thanks fpr the drop..i read this book sometimes back and really liked it. I work in an environment where I often come across how these westerners fuck up African governments. I remember working as a consultant for a water project in a tiny African country and half way through i said to myself that these white people have us in a corner that we cant or wont be able to get out of.

Its It is extremely difficult for anyone – let alone a busy legislator with a range of competing time pressures – to get to grips with the complex workings of the (International Financial Institutions -WORLD BANK & IMF)IFIs. However, it is certainly worth trying to develop a basic understanding of the conditionality process in order to know whether and when to get involved and their weird terminologies and key issues involved.

One of the terms they love to use is conditionality which in its broadest sense, can be understood as the use of financial leverage by a donor to promote specific policy changes in recipient countries. It is important to distinguish this from the mutual obligations entered into by the donor and recipient in a financial contract and the actual mechanisms for conditionality take several forms. These middle aged white folks at the Bank have something known as ‘selectivity’. This is the use by donors of existing recipient country policies as a way to select who to support with aid, loans or debt relief. For example, a donor might decide only to provide aid or loans to a country that is already implementing trade policies the donor thinks are ‘right’.

I remember Bush saying 'We’re really not interested in supporting a government that doesn’t have open markets. We expect there to be, you know, reciprocation'

This says alot about what you see and hear.

Ohh by the way the World Bank has developed a rating system to determine selectivity known as the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA). This is used to decide the allocation of loans and grants in the International Development Association (IDA) – the arm of the Bank dealing with the poorest countries and thats where countries like Tanzania Mali Nigeria Bangladesh gets fucked day and night

The World Bank’s web site publishes information on the CPIA criteria1 and the rankings of IDA eligible countries you can check them out here: http://siteresources.worldbank.org/IDA/Resources/CPIA2005Questionnaire.pdf

and here:
http://web.worldbank.org/WBSITE/EXTERNAL/EXTABOUTUS/IDA/0,,contentMDK:20933600~menuPK:2626968~
pagePK:51236175~piPK:437394~theSitePK:73154,00.html

If you read carefully there you will see that between 1999 and 2003, almost 90 per cent of Bank funding went to countries that scored above average in the CPIA.

I always laugh out loud when i see Bono Geldolf and Bill Gates when they bang on how Aid and Trade are the solutions for Africa's problems

who has the audio book?

I had the audio book and uploaded it. I don't have it any longer.

A lotta dudes DL'ed that audiobook and either don't want to upload it again, or they listened to it and deleted it after a few times.

I, myself, would like to put it on file somewhere..just because.

Like I said, I lotta dudes got it when I uploaded it....
