Car Heads: Godzilla V-Spec / 7:25 at the Ring!!!

This car just keeps getting more and more fucking amazing. The shit is reportedly ripping off 7:25's at the Ring in V-Spec trim. And this is still the prototype! It isn't even fully dialed in yet.

Houston (Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini) we have a problem.

Nissan GT-R V-Spec lap times stun observers

The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside. (For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)

7:25 on the green hell? Damn. I was tellin' these 'vette, audi, porsche fan-boys that once Nismo tunes this shit it'll be crazy. Now wait until Mines or Toms cracks that ECU. Just wish they'd decide what class they're gonna wipe out, uh, I mean: compete in. I need to get some ducats for one of the events.

Yea, it's a little scary. The Carrera GT - Porsche's half million dollar super car - was doing it 7:28.

Let's say someone was exaggerating on the 7:25 part, let's say it's really 7:30 - that's still crazy fucking impressive and again - THE CAR IS STILL IN TESTING. It hasn't been fully tweaked and locked down.

I can tell you one thing - the time is a testimate to LOTUS who did the suspension tuning and chassis tuning and COSWORTH who helped design the engine and did some of the tweaking.

You're absolutely right. If you don't have a first-class suspension, the ring will eat you alive.

it sounds remarkable...but nissans ring claims are usually taken with a grain of salt. Regardless of the video.

It isn't Nissan - these are independent observers at the ring.

And Nissan has been underating the SHIT out of this car.

They said it does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds - the fucking thing ripped off a 3.3 second(!!) time CONFIRMED independently in less than ideal conditions.

They said it ONLY has 480hp - the dyno numbers people are coming back with put it conservatively at 505-515hp!

With a few remap and tweaks, they're saying 550hp is an easily achieveable number.

I was in doubt at first, but this car is shaping up to become one of the groundbreaking cars in automotive history. The number this thing is putting out with such little power is AMAZING! BMW better get their shit to together, because Godzilla just came to town. Usually Bimmers are the ones doing amazing things with heavy, small engines, lesser powered cars. Nissan just eclipsed that with the GTR.

Ring times I got from another board for reference.

The fucked up part is the top 10 cars, a third are aren't even STREET CARS, they're pure track day specials that are just barely legal (or not at all).

The others, cost 3,4,5x as much as the GT-R and put up lesser numbers.

Incredible numbers, but I'll wait for official numbers. There's TOO many variants that are not finalized in a prototype that can result in these times. The engine isn't dialed in yet, like mentioned the tune isn't set, and were they using the final spec tires or some super sticky compound tires? That makes a huge difference. That is how some journalists say that Porsche be getting their times using non-factory tires.

Just like they said Lexus LF-A prototype turned a ring time of 7:24. I'll believe it when I see it

Is it going to look any different? Fender Flares? Different wheels (I'm guessing they will be larger)? I'm trying to like the look of it but not quite there yet.

Technically the car is unbelievable! Nissan has done a great job putting their foot back into high performance. I wish Ford still had the Ford GT around it would be a beast( more) by now. Now Mazda and Toyota need to get back in it. That's why I like when cars like the GTR and ZO6 beat cars that cost twice as much! With this V-Spec and ZR-1 coming out, the only things that will beat them is a Koenigsegg or Veyron!

BTW what is with that ZO6 time on the list? The time for it is 7:42. Driven by Dave Hill?! Damn that's the ex-Corvette's Chief Engineer! And he still pulled a 7:56?!
