To the men, annoying trends and styles that turn you off about sistas

My bf swore me up and down that he didn't care how I wore my hair as long as it looked nice. So I cut my hair really short and he HAD A FIT! It's good that you guys know exactly what you like instead of saying awww baby I don't care if you had a blonde dyed mohawk I would love it...lol

It sounds nice but yall are def. lying!

Is it possible that it didnt look nice on you? If he had a fit, maybe its because you looked bad with the short hair.

but girl chile...i was only talkin about wat i did during my transition from straighten to natural hair. wdf.

U feel i would only have my hair in braids when i can undo it and rock an sweet afro for about 2 weeks ....when the front gets fuzzy i can flat twist it and leave the back open for another week...wash it and get it done and pinned up. Girl read hear..cuz u obviously aint following. No body should keep a hair style for too long and thats standard no need for u to be chanting the obvious.

I do understand what you are saying, but your original post said you would re-braid the hair, kinky twists to be exact, every couple of weeks. For some people, as I said before, that can be hectic to do and strain their scalp and hair follicle more than others. Obviously, for you, though, it worked.

I just want to be mindful that we don't speak in absolutes about one type of style or plan that works for everyone when transitioning from chemically-treated hair to natural hair, as I mentioned earlier. Not only is dealing with the new growth and texture of hair hard, but also with some of the emotional reactions one might have to the new change that may or may not come with natural hair.

You see I would try to tell you that what works for you does not work for all and its not just what you make it but you came in with an attitude so there really isn't a point to trying to exchange ideas now is there?:smh:

how did i come in with an attitude? An enlightenin attitude is bad now? u ppl kill me. Wat works for me can work for all u know y? Im sure nearly all of u have worn braids b4 and have kept it in ur head for at least a month

PPL who have a sensitive scalp would not be able to chemically treat their hair in the first place.

this is wat i said : What i did ( as in during my transition ) was keep my hair in braids...afro kinky to be exact. Get it rebraided every couple of weeks ( it wasn't even more than a month cuz when i cut off all the straightened ends i had a cute lil afro )... WHen my new growth got to a certain length...i got all the straighten ends cut off and voila..i have natural hair!! Went thru a few mags or even watched vids on youtube to get some ideas for a hair style and im good to go. There is no hard transition unless u got brilo growing out ur head

i explained wat I, Twistyalliyah, did when i was going back natural. I Did this cuz it was during school and i didn't want to have to try to do my hair in the morning...or deal with too much hair breakage from brushin and combing[i mean the straightened ends were breaking off]

n explain to me how gettin hair rebraided can be hectic? these same women go to the salon and get their hair treated, straightened, dyed and styled. They can also find time to get weeves put in....tell me how gettin hair braided can be hectic?

But like i said... u make it how hard u want it to be. Or u can just say u dont want to do it and stop making ridiculous excuses.

It can be hectic because, depending on what salon you go to, the person braiding your hair can pull and irritate your scalp just as much as when you are getting your hair styled otherwise. I have many girlfriends who thought that making that transition to natural hair would be easier than, say, going to the salon as often as they did. But, many of them (notice I did not say all) have spent just as much time and money during their transition that they would have spent with their bi-weekly or monthly salon visits.

I don't feel like I am making excuses, but my intent is to present another viewpoint on this issue. I feel terribly sorry that you feel as if I'm making ridiculous excuses for other women, but know that these "thoughts" come from my experience with several friends who have made that transition. I'd be happy to hear more of your experience with the transition. I, personally, am happy with my relaxed hair, but think the versatility that sisters can have with their hair is another thing that makes us beautiful.

:hmm:
What works for you works for all? Give it a break. You're obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed so I won't demolish you. Demolish as in destroy. Obliterate. No more.
:hmm:

Poor thing. :smh: You probably don't even realize how wrong you are.

I should also say...its a plus if u have family that can plait hair and style it up for u so that u dont spend unnecessarily. The most i spend money on..is hair products and accessories..

STUPSE

In terms of transitioning from straight to natural wat works for me can work all (FUCK!!!! i now understand how men feel talkin to smart ass brick walls ).

Never heard of a woman who cant wear braids...and if her hair scalp is THAT SENSITIVE... she probably wont be relaxing her hair in the first place.

Obviously u wont be keepin the one hair style (as in cornrows, singles or flat twist) for too long....

ppl make things so hard. IF the hairdresser is pulling ur hair...Tell the woman to slacken it up. Wats so hard about that?

Plaiting hair tight aint good for any type of hair. Dont try to get EVERY strand in the plait.

:hmm: sus chriost!

Naw I don't think it was that cause he said it looked nice it was just a dramatic change. It was in the summer and that hair was hot on my neck...it had to GO!

flip flops

crocs

big belts over guts

"freeze" hair styles

excessively long nails

tattoos on the lower back
