They fucked up in season 2 with all them fuckin irrelevant, uninteresting, "unintertwined" storylines.
Fucking West, them twins, and all that bullshit. Season 1 created a fascinating tale by generating this sense of lore, depth, and history to the characters, that made you keep coming back for more, to see how it would all end.
Incidentally, the same could be said of the 3rd season of Prison Break (and I hear that's coming back for a 4th season. Way to kill a series....)

On the real, 4400 was just too complex for some cats. Some expected it to be a simplistic show about people being taken away and then brought back with powers. When in reality, that was one stage of a MUCH grander story. The 4th Season was really great, as you finally got to see the full scope of the storyline.

Writer's strike. The show is not returning until 2009. At least that was the last bit of information that I received.

Actually according to the creator of the 4400 the strike did have a factor in the cancellation of the show. The shows budget was crazy to.
heroes, thankfully ended the season early. so they dont return until the new seasons start (fall)
4400that last season was trash, i used to love that show i dont think they are going to wrap it up either.
