Inspector faked paperwork in crane collapse site inspection: has been arrested

(New York ? WABC, March 20, 2008) - ABC has learned a NYC inspector on March 4th failed to visit the Manhattan work site where a crane collapsed and killed seven, following a caller's complaint that the work site appeared unsafe. The inspector instead faked the paperwork and he has been arrested, city officials said.

He's gonna need that "payoff" dough he got for his lawyer. He's fucked. Too bad it was at the expense of peoples lives.:smh:

Another thing to add to the list why I dont like going into manhattan, always something dumb you have to deal with. I always hated driving there but now you have to worry about walking thats crazy.

Huge propers to that retired city worker that filed those complaints with the city (that went ignored or brushed aside) after seeing "unstable" fittings while just casually observing the crane in operation.

Dude should be commended.

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)

and today they found a couple crushed to death in their bedroom where the crane fell. they neva saw it comming.

but this shit was bound to happen. Everytime im in the city and i see those cranes on a top of a building, i ask myself how secure is it really. Shit must weight some tons and to be sitting on top of a building?? shit just always seemed suspect to me :smh:

I hope the dude get the book thrown at him and the families sue everyones ass off.

(1) Crane owners/construction company is going to get sued for $$$$
(2) City's going to get sued for $$
(3) Inspector is going to do time for negligence leading to death.

So long as the weight is distributed evenly, and secured properly - you'd be surprised how strong and safe those cranes can be.

It's when the safety protocols are ignored that bad shit happens.

Yeah but u and i know everyday condition changes..from how weather effects a building to natural movement from vibrations. Shit just never seemed to be a good idea to me.
Just cause you can do something, dont always mean you should. At the same time i guess how else you going to build those highrisers.
