This shit is mind boggling to me. I don't' think it has hit many of you yet. But just 4 years ago nobody thought this shit was even possible within the next 100 years. EVEN MYSELF. Now that the reality is almost here shit is crazy as fuck. I think back to the Chris Rock show when he went to the GOP and was asking crackas if a woman or a Black man would become president first. NOBODY said a black man.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

Yes you are.
No one else here is talking about it.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

I'm very happy because one of my Grandmothers (God willing) will get to see this in her lifetime.

But truthfully, the initial high of the possibility has worn off and I'm more focused on what's ahead.

We've still got to get him in the White House and after that, the REAL work begins. His Presidency will require some heavy lifting by supporters because ALOT of people are going to lay down either in spite, cynicism or in the belief that Obama HIMSELF is going to "make America better". He's been saying repeatedly that WE have alot of work to do to clean up Bush's bullshit and LITTLE could be truer.

I hope people don't forget that.

But a small part of me is still VERY excited about what's happening.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

I'm very excited, but I'm not really bugged out. I'll be bugged out if he actually wins. Winning would be monumental. The entire social structure of the U.S. towards the black community could change drastically for the better, especially if he does a bang up job of turning this fucked up country around.

Yeah, reality is the possibility of Obama as president will be denied due to a "Crab In The Barrel Preacher!" throwing a monkey wrench in a brothers program with comments that might be true but spoken at an inappropiate time in this heated Democratic primary.

Slow down. That's a BIG misconception around his whole potential Presidency.

If anything, it would incite the Black community WITHIN. Not via edicts that Obama would put forth from the White House.

That excites me about his Presidency. The "awakening".

I believe that it will incite a positive response from both within and outside of our community. In all actuality I still believe the greatest impact will be seen coming from people outside of the black community. Don't mistake it. This is very important. Like Barack says and I am paraphrasing "We are a nation of people, not just black people."

1. Why do you think the media keeps saying over and over again that Barack is the most valid black presidential
candidate is U.S. history? it's because they're bugged out too that he actually may become president.

2. why do you think Billary keep putting out smear campaigns against him besides basic political strategy? It's because the Clintons fear he will actually become president.

3. Why do you think some republicans are voting for Clinton to be the Dem. nominee? It's because they fear Barack will win against McCain and Hillary will lose against him so Mc Cain can become President.

- you're not alone.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

a black president would be a great thing that happens to this country. but let's take the time to reflect, mlk and malcom x were outstanding strong black men but some sorry s.o.b. who could not accept change erased them from the planet. HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF!

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

The last time I looked what we consider a traditional Black man isn't running for Presidency. We do have someone we're trying to lump into what is considered a Black man for Presidency. All in all Obama can't or isn't similar to the average Black American. Geuss what I'm still voting for him though. Cause he's my ninja!

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

What is most inspiring for me is not only does Barack Obama stand a chance but that Americans of all races, ages, sexual orientation and religious backgrounds want him to have that chance.

He has a message that is not polarizing or divisive and it resonates among the masses. And in my heart, I believe he means it and will attempt to deliver. He's unafraid and brave when people think he shouldn't be. His spirit and message has inspired me where our so-called Black religious, and might I add unofficial, leaders often failed.

And it isn't just Barack Obama. I have become cognizant of the times we are in.

The idea of a woman running, an Italian-American running, etc. in this day and age is still baffling. America is changing but it needs a leader who understand the need for that change.

That man is Barack Obama.

I agree, i think Obama is done and that's THE END. And I'd go further. I'd say Obama is done forever, because all republicans have to do is bring out the tapes of the Preacher in the national elections (specifically in states like Philadelphia, Ohio and Florida) and he will lose.

There wont be a 2012 for Obama.

What was crab in the barrel about his preachers comments :hmm:

He said the same shit many in the black community have been saying for years. People say it up here. Are you going to leave BGOL?

Inappropriate time? Why, because he wasn't hiding behind a keyboard. Because he had the audacity to say it where people could actually see it

The shit he said was before Obama was even a senator. :hmm:

Thats what i'm saying. I swear more and more cats are exposing their whiteness on this forum. That preacher said nothing you don't hear in the Black community on a daily basis. Which is why the sheltered cracka community is so shocked to hear this. They have no interaction with black people. FUCK ALL YOU WHITE MOTHAFUCKAS ON BGOL.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

I actually agree with this topic. I know over the past two months I have been shocked, that this could actually happen. However over the past two weeks I've seen the same Amerikkka we all have known. He's taken the scab off what white people have been trying to hide and stop. I think a lot of them have realized it's a possibility also and are scared.

If Obama doesn't win, it could be another 50 years before another black person has a legit chance as a presidential candidate, not going thru the vice president route. And it could cause the same riots that occurred in the 60's to happen throughout the country.

Strong political analysis. Not only did you lay out Obama's fate eloquently, but you added the 51st state of Philadelphia to the union.

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

Here is my response to that Van Allen character that was saying Obama should've accepted Hillarys offer to be "her" vice president

With him being the first black man with a "real chance" at making a race to the white house of course he's gonna be more than a just a "candidate". I guarantee many folks laughed or brushed him off when it was first hinted at him running because in this day and time it's still a far-fetched idea that a black could become president. Once the whole country got to see and hear him and saw that he was serious and could hold his own with his speeches and debates that gave them the feeling that that feeling wasn't so far fetched after all. I feel he needs to win (the Democratic nomination) more than her because of this "cause/movement" that he is leading. You think him accepting her invitation to be her VP is what the movement wants to hear come from his mouth, especially seeing as he is in the lead, what kind of leader does that?

Re: Am I the Only one seriously bugged out and Excited a Black Man Could Be President

I have said it before and say it again if our Black what the hell have you got to loose by voting Obama???

After all these years of letting white people run the show let a Black man fucking run it, even if he does nothing for you personally, at least the standing of the Black man will rise to an all time new level.

It is exciting times but Black people have to accept some responsibility and try to make this a golden age for Black people in the U.S, you fucking deserve it.....!

Speech over, ***climbs down of soap box and gets on his push bike home!!!***

Duh! that's quite obvious but most of white America are not exposed to that type of preaching or rhetoric. Even Obama admited that his white grandmother had a fear of black men who approached her or crossed her path in the street. and leave BGOL I ask you why? because we disagree on certain topics, How old are you?
Look at the big picture!

It was inappropiate when talk like that will scare off the white votes that are needed to win this crucial election.

Wrong! I don't know what snipet or clip that you were looking at but the one that I'm referring to was current time wise and relative to the initial start of the democratic primary.
Senator Obama has publically rejected some of his retiring pastor's statements.
He could've very well stood behind his pastor 100% on every statement but Obama has a mission and he's looking at the prize, the big picture and it's apparent that some of you are short sighted

While I love sports and music - Obama being elected will show our youth that we can do more than entertain. The fact that it seemed so far-fetched for their to be a Black president in this country - Obama's election would 'cause people to reconsider what they considered limits.

On the flip side, I don't trust politicians. I don't care what color they are, or whether they sit or stand to take a piss.

I have to disagree with you there. Obama's whole campaign has been about change and inspiration. I think he's run such good campaign so far that even if he doesn't win he's provided a bit of a blueprint for liberal politicians for years to come. They will improve on it. And he's only the third Black senator ever. Young inspired Black politicians have a lot of space to fill in that legislative body.
I think there a few young minority law students, staffers, interns, you name it, who are watching and learning. The whole political climate has been changed.
Having a diverse field of candidates will become the norm. And not just running on their skin color or gender, but because they will see that their ethnicity or gender is no longer the barrier it used to be.

Yes, I'm bugged out and excited. If he wins I'm going to party like it's '99. Then get to work....

I'm just happy 'they' haven't started shooting at him yet.:hmm:

First off, I take umbrage to your assertion that I and others are white because you are in disagreement with our opinions and views on certain topics.
I'm blacker in color and spirit than the dirt under your butt scratching nails caveman!
In this era of polictics, political candidates are put under a microscope and scrutinized on practically every detail of their life.
Anything they say or do or anything that is said on television, print media, radio, as well as illegal activities by friends and associates can play a role in the public's opinion of them and can sway potential votes one way or the other.
Nice of you to try to deflect who you really are on to others, but I see right through you caveman.
keep scratching!
