AVENGERS/INVADERS #1
avninv001.jpg

Civil War tore the Marvel Universe apart, pitting hero against hero, friend against friend. Captain America lay dead, felled by a sniper's bullet. The Skrulls' Secret Invasion was uncovered — heroes have been replaced by alien shapeshifters for decades. In this, the hour of the Marvel Universe's greatest upheavals, five heroes from another era appear in the center of New York City!

The strangers claim to be the Invaders, costumed heroes of World War II — Captain America, Bucky, Namor, the Human Torch, and Toro. How will two Avengers teams — one government sponsored, the other fugitives from the law — react to these mysterious strangers? Can the Invaders be who they claim to be? And what does their appearance in the year 2008 portend? These questions and more will be answered in Marvel's twelve-issue maxi-series Avengers/Invaders from creators Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Steve Sadowski!

In the planning for over two years, Ross and Krueger are planning on pulling out all the stops! Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, back in the modern day Marvel Universe. Iron Man, confronting the personal demons that have haunted him since Rogers' death. The young and angry Namor, meeting his older, wiser, more cautious self. Can two Avengers teams — the Mighty Avengers and the New Avengers — learn something from the heroism and nobility of the heroes of the World War II generation, the Greatest Generation? Or will some Avengers see this as an opportunity to upset the balance of history?

Artist Steve Sadowski is no stranger to team books — or to working with Ross and Krueger. Sadowski's work on Avengers and DC's JSA prepared him well for tackling the Golden Age-meets-Modern Age story of Avengers/Invaders. Plus, Sadowski worked with Ross and Krueger on their Earth X tie-in books. Wrapped in painted covers from Alex Ross, this maxi-series will be a visual treat.

Avengers/Invaders will shape the Marvel Universe for years to come! Don't miss what is certain to be one of the most talked-about comic events of 2008!

"In light of the events of Civil War and Tony Stark's own guilt over the death of [Captain America], the meeting between those two heroes is going to be an emotional jackhammer. One that will rip through the story."
— Writer Jim Krueger

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1

A bold new adventure for the biggest hero of 2008! You know you love him! And as the summer’s most anticipated movie boot-jets its way into theaters, here’s the perfect jumping-on point for new readers and Iron Man fans alike, courtesy of Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca! Tony Stark – Iron Man, billionaire industrialist and director of S.H.I.E.L.D. – faces the most overwhelming challenge of his life. Ezekiel Stane, the son of Tony’s late business rival and arch¬enemy Obadiah, has set his sights, his genius and his considerable fortune on the task of destroying Tony Stark and Iron Man. What’s worse, he’s got Iron Man tech, and he’s every bit Iron Man’s equal and opposite…except younger, faster, smarter…and immeasurably evil!

i don't care what y'all think if you ''get'' this book this is some gangsta and priceless shit right here Batman and Robin painting the entire room yellow to ''talk'' to Hal Jordan and even offering him some lemonade  i don't know if Miller just wants to shit on Batman but i think this is the way you really turn out after seeing your parents get gunned down. There are more probabilities you would turn into a psychopath (a Punisher) rather than a wisecrackin fun loving hero (Spiderman)

the very first issue of that book still is a trip to me..Bats introducing himself as "the GOD DAMN Batman",etc

Seems to me like XMen Legacy is missing a page...story just feels like there's a gap somewhere. I'm guessing the "fixed" version will pop up in a few days like usual.

is that black panther annual working for anyone???

meh

Hudlin just isn't a good writer. There is such an opportunity to really look at Wakanda from a rich historical perspective but he simply fails. I have to read it again but it felt like slavery and the colonization of Africa occurred all at the same time and the Wakandans mysteriously left notes in slavemasters and imperialist leaders' bedrooms?:lol: It's like a child trying to make Wakanda feel so cool and likable that its unbelievable. MAcgruder was right about Hudlin. His way of making things interesting is blackenizing white/European cultural concepts.
