I feel you 100 percent on this shit man. I'm 26 and I may have been with 1 or 2 chicks in my life that can/could cook better then me. My sisters can't cook either and my mom is a great cook. Surprisingly I think the answer just hit me though fam... Simpin Ass Niggas. From the ones they see in videos to the ones who take them out to eat and pay all the time women have no need to learn how to cook for themselves because its not seen as something you need to learn. Sad but true.

Why do you assume it's a woman's obligation to be a good cook? That's as stereotypical an assumption as expecting the majority of black men to be great tap-dancers. How many men can cook? What's stopping them? Black women aren't raised to be cooks and maids anymore. Thank goodness.
I co-sign this thread, the last three women I dated couldn't cook, my younger sister can't cook, but my oldest sister can. I can cook damn near anything gourmet style, I work in the "Corporate World" and I'm in RN school. There are no excuses, it is laziness, women and particularly black American women, (cause I have yet to meet an island or African woman who can't cook) feel that they are privileged.
That it is no longer important to cook a meal, but to get a meal...by any means necessary. Thus they bleed brotha's or white boys, whichever you prefer, pockets dry dining out. I can't say just how disappointed I am in the "Majority" of American women in this day and age. Like I said, American Sista's truly hate being called "Women", they think they are men, except for when It comes time for the benefits of being a woman. The next woman I meet who can't cook, I'm going to make a deal with. I'll cook (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) and cook a snack for you and the kids too, but your ass will change the tires, mow the lawn, trim the hedges, dig a drain ditch and lay drainage pipes if needed, pull weeds, trim the tree's, take out the garbage, fix the sink, unclog the toilet, change the brakes, install pipes, fix the garbage disposal and help with any house repairs. You want to reverse roles, that's fine with me..be the whoa - "man" you want to be so bad and I'll wear your apron...sad, really sad.

This isn't personal, it's about cooking and the truth of the matter is a majority (in my case all) of the west indian and African women I've met can and have cooked....full course meals...everyday. The majority of Black American women have not or cannot cook and the West Indian and African women I meet are professionally employed as well....There's a problem here, there really is.
Right...but MOST of them can...but there is more to this hun: It's the attitude...the Spanish women that I have dealt with (and I deal with more Sisters then Spanish)...all have asked me what I wanted for dinner. Not, where are we going for dinner.
What I am trying to say, is that REAL men, want a Sister that wants to take of them and the family. AND in turn, we want to take care of our Sisters as well. However, alot of Sisters are not on that page. Now, I will say that the Black man has a part to play in that, because the Black man, for many reasons, have been absent in the home. I know 'cause I was raised in a single parent home. And the adsence has had a MAJOR affect on us as a people.
But, there are true men, like myself, that want to build a family with our Sisters, but have a hard ass time, because alot want instant gradification. No one has time to build and establish a foundation.

I have been blessed to travel throughout the country and 99% of the AA Women I have met can cook. Thats not to say all of them can... but in my travels I have been welcomed into homes where there were AA women who could.

For the record, I said the majority of West Indian and African women I've MET, not the majority of women overall. Majority meaning If I've met 25 then 23 can cook. If I've met, and I have 25 sistas, 11 can cook, 10 just won't just to be arrogant and the other 4 will if you spend enough paper.And herein lies the problem, just because you think it's pointless, doesn't mean other men think the same. The 2nd part of my response was not directed at you so I don't see the point in you mentioning all the many places you have been. I only mentioned that fact to say that I have traveled throughout the US and have had the opportunity to meet other AA women outside of my immediate block.
Now me saying this argument was pointless was more so referring to me defending African American women to West Indians/ Africans because yall are gonna think what you want to.
When I mentioned "tv dinners" I was quoting Leroys original complaint about chicks taking "tv dinners" to work. I never said your mother was on welfare *shrugs* I'm not even sure what your point was with that.
Either way it is ignorant to classify and/or categorize any one particular group , sex or race.
