This is EXACTLY what I mean. Your original excuse for why parting with Crumpler was no big deal was:
1. "Crumpler's been an underachiever (given his talent and hype) and is on the downside of his career."
All TRUE. He had a down, injury-riddled year last year and is over 30 ... and he's costing them $5M against the cap. Which part of that don't you understand? He's not worth the money (to a rebuilding team) at this point.
Consecutive pro-bowls OR being recognized as THE BEST at you position means nothing to you but it does in the eyes of his peers and is an incentive in contracts. These are FACTS. Your "speculation" about popularity and obligatory refuting is useless.
Again, no one said he wasn't a "nice," highly-regarded player with a good reputation. But those types of players get released all the time for age and money reasons. Which part of that don't you get?
2. Having Michal Vick throw to you is "not a plus".
Uhh, yeah.
Vick is a lousy passer.
Crumpler might've lived up to his hype (as a great TE, rather than just a good one) with a better QB. He may yet get the chance, if he's healthy.
As pointed out in another post Crumpler, in 2005, set the Falcons' single-season record for catches (65) and receiving yards (877) by a tight end. So, to the great Blunt, Vick's passes mean nothing but to Crumpler it was the first time in the Falcons franchise HISTORY such an accomplishment by a tight end had ever been achieved.
Very nice for a
FALCONS tight end, but far from the best for an NFL tight end. Considering he's their #1 receiver he
should catch a lot of balls, but with a better QB he'd have caught 90.
Somebody had to throw the ball to Crumpler to help him set this record...right? If was Mike F-N Vick. These are FACTS. Your rationale and argument shifts in every post but nothing is factual.
65 catches is NOT a lot of catches, even for a tight end. Owning a Falcons record isn't really saying much. Someone had to catch the ball on that team. Even with a lousy 53% completion rate
Vick is still gonna connect with someone.
=OK, you don't like Vick. You don't think that Alge is any good. Cool. Your twisted logic in making your case is faulty - which is not cool. If your going to hate at least hate right!
Not sure what you're talking about. I'll repeat for the upteenth time.
Crumpler had his day, but is now too expensive and old to keep (on a rebuilding team). How hard is that to grasp? He's not gonna help the franchise at this point, though the money will.
Vick is not a good passer. Which part don't you get?
