So John Cena is Superman now?...lol

[nerd mode] okay, you all have had your fun. sorry to break it to you, but i doubt the artist used this picture as reference.

why?

first of all, the two pictures are made from two different angles. Supes' body is pointed more towards the left, Cena's to the right. this totally distinguishes the axes of both figures from each other.

look at the arms. Supes' right arm is ABOVE the left, the opposite is true for Cena. the chest and shoulders of each are different as well.

it is professionally acceptable to use reference material to make anatomically correct figures for artistic expression. this artist probably did use human models for all three in that picture, but not this particular pic of Cena. [/nerd mode]

I don't think he used that picture of Cena either. It was just weird to see Cena's face on Superman.

You have to admit Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman never looked they way they looked on that cover. They look like alternate/evil versions of themselves.

Batman looks old, Wonder Woman looks like a seductress, and Superman looks like a cocky jock.

It reminds me of Alex Ross' artwork. His people look like reallife versions of the characters. If your read the inside cover the artist is explaining how he designed the cover.

Actually, it's a cat that uses porno for character references for the characters faces. Trust me, artists use that shit.

Kevin Grevioux is an American actor, screenwriter, and comic book writer.

Grevioux was born in Chicago, Illinois and spent most of his childhood in Minnesota, Boston, and New Jersey. He has been seen in such films as The Mask, Steel, Congo, Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake and the 2003 vampire vs. werewolf film, Underworld, starring actress Kate Beckinsale. He has also worked as a stuntman on occasion.

Underworld was Grevioux's first produced writing credit. He came up with the original premise[citation needed] and wrote the original screenplay along with director Len Wiseman, launching the Underworld franchise. He appears in the film himself as the lycan Raze.

Using Romeo and Juliet as an archetype, Grevioux, a former microbiologist with a background in genetic engineering, actually based Underworld on his experiences with interracial dating and the tension that it often causes.[citation needed] He also brought a scientific element to the world of vampires and werewolves by basing vampirism and lycanthropy on a viral mutagen rather than the mysticism typically associated with these two mythic creatures.

Early 2006 saw Grevioux form two comic book imprints, Astounding Studios and DarkStorm Studios, to be published through Alias Enterprises. Grevioux's Astounding Studios imprint was to focus on All-Ages titles such as Valkyries, Guardian Heroes and The Hammer Kid. The Darkstorm Studios imprint was a more mature line, including the books Alius Rex, The Pale Horsemen and Universe City. The near-collapse of Alias in 2006 leaves these projects in uncertain territory.

Grevioux's voice is distinctively deep. In the commentary track of Underworld, he relates that during the promotion and launch of the film, many fans asked him if his voice had been altered by computer, and were surprised to learn that it hadn't.

Grevioux will be writing Marvel Comics' New Warriors volume 4.[1] He is also in the process of writing a story featuring Lee Falk's characters The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician, co-written with Mike Bullock.

Damn... I never would've guessed any of that. Props to a brother.

Thank you sir!! I was just about to finish my page by page search of this thread for these issues. Oh, and in my search I have to give a Shout out to Lenny Nero and Mello Mello. In my search for The Boys comics, I found that some of the comics I posted were posted by them near the beginning of this thread. Props to original posters!

By the way, the links for #7 and #8 are no longer working(files Deleted). I have #8 if someone would like to post #7.

Check out the interview with the cover artist in the current Wizard. To paraphrase originally, he had Superman in a pose very similar to the John Cena picture. (w/o the head cock), but he wanted to give Superman a bit of an attitude, so he went back and cocked the head and photoshopped it in.

and I'm with you guys, that Wonder Woman look and pose does look very familar, I just can't put my finger on where I've seen it.
