I find this whole thread pretty embarrassing.

I sure as HELL can't back Angelou on this one. Because the Clintons have NEVER been a friend to Black folks IMO. Just ask Lani Guinier and Jocelyn Elders.

But I'm not going to sit at my PC and call Angelou every name in the book either. She made her choice. As did Maxine Waters.

In Waters case, It's political. But also like most of the CBC, she feels the White Man's/Woman's sugar is sweeter. Obama is pretty much a young upstart to the CBC and those of their ilk. And Dude's even a member.

But just as some White folks are afraid of "change", you better believe you got tons of Black folks who feel the same way. These CBC members, the Sharptons, and Jacksons of the world are so comfortable, that Obama scares them. Obama ain't asking folks to look at him as a panacea. If anything, he's asking us to look within ourselves. This is something Black folks especially need to do. That idea scares the SHIT out of the Old Guard. Can you imagine if Black folks did this, the CBCs, Sharpton's and Jacksons of the world would no longer have lifetime careers off our misery. Hilary's Black backers are so short-sighted. And you can add "selfish" on top of that.

Obama's "success" also makes them jealous too I'm sure.

What's hard for me to understand is that all these civil rights legends (Andrew Young, Angelou, etc.) seem to be backing Clinton. It's ironic that people who fought for our advancement are supporting the Clinton's (whom may have did more then most whites, still few short) instead a progressive, intellegent black that's a role model. i dont think bill clinton was a saint either, but i don't judge a presidency on things that have no relevance to me and my family's existence. He was good internationally, but he fucked up with Rwanda, Somalia and the early stages of Sudan (dude honestly didn't give a RATS ASS about what went on in Africa, but he policed the rest of the world).

He was good domestically, but he fucked up with NAFTA (which is currently UNDOING all the good he did for the middle class) and racially biased sentencing laws.

It's about more than just ME because things I don't give a shit about can end up affecting me in the long run. Being all about self can end up being pretty damned short sited.

Now if I was Obama this is how I'd play chess, I'd let this primary thing run it's course, then at the last primary election vow to run as John Edward's Vice Presidential running mate That would push Edwards way past Hilary, and then push Edwards in to the White house,if he doesn't fugg up Edwards can get two terms. Also the world will get used to Seeing Obama and understand what kind of leader he could be, and after Edwards two terms Obama would be a shoe in as President for two term thus giving Obama 16 years of influence in the Whitehouse.

Honestlyit really doesn't matter when she did it. The fact that she got on Camera and did it for the world to see is damaging enough. There aren't White peoples that are going to suddenly spark up and say "Hey Maya Angelou" supports Hillary Clinton..I think I'll vote for her". This was aimed at black women and older black voters.
