~ Comics New releases ~

Spiderman, The Invisible Woman, and Superman should be the most lethal characters in comicbookdom.

Spiderman is clairvoyant, he is ridiculously flexible, plus with the ability to press 10 tons, he should be able to use all kinds of leverage based attacks. Aikido, judo, and wrestling types of attacks used by him would make him a killer.

that added with his agility can make him the ultimate kick fighting master. (think of a capoeirista on speed).

The Invisible woman has the ability to make you partially invisible, place a force bubble INSIDE your body, and make it expand until you explode. she could do it on a microscopic level and give people aneurysms or heart attacks.

Superman? this motherfucker has SUPER MEMORY. he can play a fight over in his mind a million times, remember everything you could possible do, then remember the best response to it. you would've lost before the fucking fight started. he also has super speed, he can fucking fly...this bastard can fight you upside fucking down while you are grounded. he can heat vision your ass from ORBIT. at his best speed you could never touch him.

anyway, yeah, Spiderman should learn how to fight, or how about THE WRITERS learn how to tell better stories????

They always doing dumb shit with Spider Man. I was wondering when he was going to use his new powers. Now, I guess that will never happen. They could have developed his character without getting rid of MJ:

1) Kill off May, she's old. Plus her death would give way to a "darker" spider man. Make him kill somebody.

2) Give him some type of martial arts training. Every time he runs into a villain with super power, he gets the shit kicked out of him.

3) Add a new villain, that's what all other companies do.

4) If they really wanted to get rid of MJ, a divorce. The strain of May's death / constantly on the run / him being spider man etc...

5) Have him utilize his new powers. More than once.

I could go on, but the whole story line is retarded. Peter Parker has been a hero long enough to know: don't trust Mephisto. There's always a catch. But it won't last long, people will write enough letters and Quesedilla will change his tune again.

Spoiler:
Rick Jones is Red Hulk. Is it just me, or is this a medicore story?

Marvel is not putting out anything good excpet for the X-Men story line. That's pretty interesting, hopefully it won't fall flat like WWH.

DC has been writing a few great stories, specially the Sinestro War.

Enough ranting....

Thank you to all posters (Linker mostly), I get my fix weekly.

I agree with everything except the divorce.

Joe had a point about a divorce making Peter seem old.

You don't want to age a character like Spiderman too much.

Which is also why I think they are going to have him on some playa shit.

May's old ass should die. Fans wouldn't care.

They should've kept up the Dark Spiderman/being on the run shit. Seeing him beat the fuck out of Kingpin in jail and telling him when he would die was some good shit.

They should've also kept his identity public and let him live with the mistake of doing that shit.(Now they have a HUGE plothole)

All of that, along with his new powers would've been a huge step in the right direction.

Marvel need some new niggas...

Exactly. Bitch ass Joe Q let his inner fanboy fuck up Spidey just when I was starting to really dig him. They did away with the organic webshooters and all of his enhancements from the Other story line including his stingers.

This change wont last long. I think Joe Q's days at Marvel may be numbered. His radical changes may have helped some books short term. But his nazi like insistance is hurting ALL the marvel books.

SPOILER

for those that read the latest Spider Man:

Remember when Mary Jane whispers to Mephisto, and Peter can't hear, did she ask for powers from Mephisto? Or is this a side effect? The new character Jackpot is MJ (red hair, calling someone tiger, naming herself jackpot).

WOOO YAAA!!!!!

DAMN GOOD ISSUE!!!! X is the man.. literally.

What Wolverine did.. awesome..

Mystique.. new found love me thinks.. still hate her though.

Gambit.. GET YA MIND RIGHT SON!!!

Vertigo.. Glad you aint dead.. but probably wont last long.

New X-men.. maaann...
Layla.... :smh::smh::smh:

No spoilers but pure awesomeness. They BETTER end this right..

Why the Thing?

Black Bolt is a Skrull?

When did this happen?

juggernaut remember couldn't utilize his powers...

the thing was the only member out of the loop for a while....

black bolt was exposed during the most recent issue of illuminati

DC side:

salvation run is probably going to be one of the best titles out next to jla and green lantern corps.

Green lantern Related titles
JSA/JLA
Salvation run.. is that shit.

I dont think Captain america was a skrull because when he died he didnt
turn back "skrully" like electra did. oh, another reason i think spiderwoman is a skrull is because there was an issue of e new avengers where doc strange did some spell and she was in the corner like she had a headache and they never explained that......

also, hawkeye coming back from the dead with no explination.....

skrully.

but they say EVERY major team in the marvel U has at least one so....

Spiderwoman left the New Avengers with the Skrull's body to show Stark, so she wasn't with them when Strange cast the spell. She could still be one though.

Hawkeye was resurrected during the House of M event by the Scarlet Witch.

banner is still the hulk, there's just another one running around now....

how the hell can he be red?

banner's green based upon the color spectrum of gamma radiation = green

red = infrared.....

i could see white/black for cosmic or purple for ultraviolet but red?

Man don't worry about trying to make sense out of this. The writers damn sure won't.

 Yes my brotha, you hit the nail on the head. And I think this is when we as fans need to make our voice heard by not doing what we normally do, buy comics. When Marvel sees the sales going down, they'll revamp the character in hopes of making it exciting again. It's the only way we can affect change, other than working in the House of Ideas itself.

I also enjoyed the darker SpiderMan, I wanted him to kill King-Pin but I knew at the last minute he'd chicken out.

I think MJ is more important to Spidey fans than Aunt May.

Also, how does the One More Day conclusion effect SpiderMan in the rest of the books? namely, new avengers

One more thing, Hawkeye was brought back during House of M by the Scarlet Witch. Apparently, when she ended House of M she kept him around. There are books to back this up, can't remember the issues right now.

On the Skrull issue, I gotta say this, as more people are revealed to be Skrulls, my question is, where are the real folks? Where is the real Electra? Dead or abducted by Skrulls?

The Black Bolt that was a Skrull, when was this revealed, before or after WWH?

The timeline and continuity of some of this shit doesn't make sense, can I get something on the first page that says "these events happen before X and after Y"

Thanks for reading the rant. Peace.

They will do the same thing they did during World War Hulk when the New Avengers and Mighty Avengers teamed up. Act (or at lease act) like nothing happened.

Man, That brand new day was pretty good. I hope they stick to there guns and keep it that way. I was in the pissed off like shit camp before I saw that shit. I still aint payin for it though.

is my best bet as a skrull. she quickly move up the ranks in shield too fast in my opinion. we all know she can not be trusted. almost kill the new avengers and hell even rated out Tony when he was trying to uncover the truth about all the missing people(shield Iron man book):smh:

:puke:SKRULLY!

I stand corrected. She was with them when he cast one of the spells. She wasn't with them when he cast the other one in issue 34.

In the Exiles Sue Richards was the head of Hydra and Wolverine (her lover) was her assassin.
So you were right about how deadly she is.
If i'm not mistaken the Skrulls even mention that in the New FF/Marvel Zombies storyline. I know sombody did.

There have also been deadly verions of Spiderman in the Exiles books.

As for Superman just look at Superboy-Prime or Ultraman (Earth 2). They show how deadly Superman can be, But thats why they have him and Spiderman hold back and not kill. Superman could have wiped out 90% of the villians in the DC Universe by now.

Spiderman's books have always been more about his personal life than him being a hero.

I alway liked Hawkeye but be could very well be a skrull.
You have a one night stand with the spirit of Scarlet Witch and you comeback to life?

How about Captain Marvel being a Skrull? He came back out of the blue. That would be some shit because he is supposed to be on the front lines of the War.

One more thing, Captain America's body did change, but it reverted to the age he would be if he had not been in suspended animation.
That was weird.

Once again, I would like to thank all of the people that keep this thread going. really, really beautiful work guys.:dance::dance:

X-MEN: LEGACY
X-MenLegacy208Cover.jpg

X-Men: Legacy continues the aftermath of Messiah CompleX, centering on the lives of Professor X, Magneto, Rogue and Gambit. With the X-Men no more, mutantkind must look to the past as they move forward into a future like you’ve never seen before! Similar to the acclaimed X-Men: Deadly Genesis, this ongoing series promises to reveal shocking secrets about your favorite mutants while also launching a bold new era for the X-Men.

X-MenLegacy209Cover.jpg

X-MenLegacyPreview1.jpg

X-MenLegacyPreview2.jpg

here are some quotes from tha i agree with when i saw this...

"More retconning of the past? I'd prefer simply moving forward building new original ideas, not stomping over what has gone before. Prof X had a crush on teenage Jean... Prof X had an X-Men team we didn't know about.... Gwen Stacy actually slept with Norman Osborn and had kids.... Peter Parker's parents were SHIELD agents.... House of Ideas?"

"I can't believe that Marvel thinks that equating Legacy to Deadly Genesis is going to actually encourage anyone to buy it."
COSIGN

"Just when I thought I was in, they push me back out.
Just who acclaimed X-Men: Deadly Genesis?
How many more "shocking secrets" do they have left to reveal after 40+ years?
How many times have the X-Men faced a "bold new era"?
How many times have we heard "the X-Men are no more"?
And why do they insist on dicking with the title again?
I give up on the X-Men."

"The Xavier/Magneto focus reminds me of the post-Morrison "Excalibur", where they were on genosha. Only instead of Calisto, Shola, and some new characters, we have Gambit and Rogue. Omega Sentinal is even a common element.

I agree with the "no more secret pasts. no more retcons" sentiment. However, I would like the much retconned and altered (even by Claremont retconning himself at times) history of the pre-x-men x-men cleared up.
So Mike Carey and co, if you are listening, hear this plea: Please do not add anything new to the history of the X-men, instead, look for ways to make previous additions to make sence.
Example 1: Sage being an early recruit for Xavier sent to spy on the Hellfire club, But in the Dark Pheonix saga only Warren had ever heard of them, and he thought they were just a social club. And Xavier's thought ballons in the New Mutants graphic novel said he didn't trust Tessa, which is an odd thought for someone he was conspiring with.
Example 2: Storm having met the x-men in "the hidden years" series, but in Giant Size#1 she didn't know who Xavier was.
Also, Wolverine having met just about everyone before he joined the X-Men. Sure he lost his memories, but what's everybody else's excuse?
And what about Kitty's Dad being Xavier's war buddy?
What about Moira MacTaggert's early involvement? How come Magneto didn't know he had all those lost kids? Why did nobody know Magneto's real name for so long?
There are hundreds of conflicting retcons to clear up. This would be an excellent time."
so tell me how you feel about this:cool:

X-FORCE #1

X-Force01Cover.jpg

In the wake of Messiah CompleX, the X-Men are no more, but some threats to mutantkind must be dealt with permanently by the new mutant strike force of Wolverine, X-23, Warpath and Wolfsbane! The hotly anticipated X-Force #1, from the acclaimed writing duo of Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost and rising star artist Clayton Crain, brings Cyclops’ mutant black ops team into conflict against the mutant-hating Purifiers…and there are deadly consequences! The all-new X-Force must accept the ramifications of their mission that’s so secret not even the most trusted members of the X-Men can ever learn about it!

These are the characters that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, or to take the fight to the bad guys. And when the bad guys are the Purifiers assembling a truly terrifying group of the worst villains mutantkind has ever faced, no quarter will be asked and none given!”
