And now a real word from Colin Powell on Obama

COLIN POWELL PRAISES OBAMA

ON EVE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY... Former Secretary of State Colin Powell praised Barack Obama on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, crediting the Illinois Senator for breaking barriers while running as "an American man" who can represent the entire nation. In an interview with PBS host Tavis Smiley, Powell said he was "taking joy" in Obama's rise and he said citizens across the country can "enjoy this moment where a person like Barack Obama can knock down all of these old barriers that people thought existed with respect to the opportunities that are available to African Americans."

Powell, the first black person to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, National Security Advisor, and Secretary of State, also firmly rebutted the idea that reporters or voters should assess whether a candidate is white or black "enough."
This argument about him not being black enough, that's just absolute nonsense. He is putting himself forward not as a black man but as an American man who wants to be president of the United States of America. We should see Barack as a candidate for president who happens to be black, and not a black candidate for president.

colin lookin for a job?

im playin

Naw ,Colin would be a good candidate for Obama's administration. For all the shit we give him on BGOL, he was basically suckered in on the 911 shit. Remember he was the previous "would make a good black president" candidate. At least my family had hope he would run. Funny how one cokehead, hillbilly can fuck up an otherwise bright career.

I'd be more than willing to give Powell a second chance to help make a difference. I know he's learned a VALUABLE lesson from his dealings with Bush and Cheney and would probably be what I think he could be for the country.

I'm not 100% sure where he should/could be placed but certainly a man like him would only be an asset to an Administration that's running a clean, progressive operation.

so he didnt need a chance for killing all those black people in Panama?

Help me out Makk.

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)
Remember Noriega? The Panama Canal? The lease on the canal due to expire? The plane that exploded with the president of Panama in it? The invasion of Panama? The shelling of the ghetto in Panama? The mass graves? Powell oversaw the invasion from my understanding and is responsible for the murder of many black civilians.

Powell backing Obama is enough to make me consider Obama a total manchurian candidate

The questions posed by the Powell Doctrine, which should be answered affirmatively before military action, are:

Is a vital national security interest threatened?
Do we have a clear attainable objective?
Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
Have all other non-violent policy means been fully exhausted?
Is there a plausible exit strategy to avoid endless entanglement?
Have the consequences of our action been fully considered?
Is the action supported by the American people?
Do we have genuine broad international support?

if they would have followed his principles on war, we wouldnt be in iraq now. so he had to go.

he had to go? :hmm:

He lied to the world for the neocon war. Yeah he's an outsider. :hmm:

He chills at Bohemian Grove just like the others.

I've always liked Colin Powell but its a shame that he let George Dubaya ruin his Career :smh:

If he still had his clout, it could be Obama & Powell on the 2008 presidential ticket..

I admire Collin, but he waited too long. He should have been up for Obama when he announced his candidacy. Now every influential black leader wanna be down when it's obvious he's up without their help.

I bet he gonna push the Obama button in november:yes:
unrelated but I wonder who Tiger Woods voting for?

Makk..from what I heard..and this was straight from Senator's mouths in Washington before I went to Iraq..is that Colin Powell got completely played...systemically... fed false reports..sent on dummy missions internationally that were only set-up to "depower" him, etc...

Powell should be VP. He'd get some repub votes and he'd take the assasination aspect out of the equation, because some hick thinking of getting Barack outta the way would have another black guy sitting and waiting.

"Shiiiiiiiit!! Obama all the way!! You see all them white bitches around him??!!! Since Barack like the chocolate, that's all me playa!!"

I can second this from first hand experience here in DC. When Dumbass W and Rumsfield were beating the war drums they literally weren’t trying to hear anything from anyone that wasn’t saying "lets go kick there asses". Powell and other high ranking military and civilian folks that were against going to war in Iraq got played big time. Once he realized what was up he just resigned him self to playing his part and dipped at the first opportunity. The thing people should realize about Powell (and I am sure my military brothers and sisters can cosign) is that Powell is a life long military man. And in the military one does not typically openly contradict the boss even if they are wrong. They just express their opinion, salute smartly and carry out what ever orders they are given to the best of their ability, and try to make the best out of a bad situation. I think an Obama – Powell ticket would be un-stoppable.

yeah I know that but thats because quiet as its kept he's a total imbecile. Severely lacking in intellect. I know people who know him pre-service in NY. He's fucking stupid. He's also complicit. The people who surrounded him werent morons.

Yeah, and I bet those same people who knew him in NY and said he was an “imbecile” stayed their asses in NY while he went out and helped shape history.

Thats funny you said that. I met a man that was in the service with him and he said that Powell really had the track laid for him. He was another high ranking Black military man and he didn't say it with spite either. He just said that people in the know just knew the deal...

Actually, theyre well off black people in their 70s who have traveled the world.

No, Powell's been supporting Obama from early on. Early last year he was advising him on certain issues. It's just that now people make a big deal out of it.

That really doesn't conflict with what I heard. I'm sure you've met people of influence who aren't the sharpest tack in the drawer. An educated black Yes man officer who had a heroic event is very marketable. The military is pretty political, at least what I gathered from my mentor who is a retired brigadier general.
