It works better when you realize it's not a lifestyle any more than eating pizza is a lifestyle... it's just something you like to do... it doesn't work if you aren't dedicated to your main partner at all times though... me and wifey have gotten so used to it that we don't even hunt anymore... if we get an offer then great... if not then no big deal... it's cool when we go places though cause she usually points our the fine females to me before I peep them myself... then we giggle and move on...
If two are in a relationship (FF or MF) make sure that they each are down with it on a personal level and they completely trust each other. If one is only doing it to please the other or to save the relationship/marriage, the 3rd party could get caught up in some drama - either somebody may have trouble getting into it or they could harbor feelings for the 3rd party later or be accused of it later.
Basically, if you're trying to convince your girl to do it, don't push her. If she's not really down, it could do more harm than good if she resents you for it later. If she shows any interest at all, you could start with porn (3somes, lesbian porn) to see how she reacts to it. The strip club may or may not turn her on...just depends. Talk about it.

Did you have any scenarios in mind?
I'm friends with a couple who's done it for years. If your rules are sound, they should address any issues that come up and squash any confusion. Like if either of you is uncomfortable, its a no-go. Do everything together - make all the decisions together. No private interaction/meetings that your mate doesn't know about, etc. You know...
I had a friend who was the third party and the wife kept hittin him up trying to have an affair afterwards - he just cut her off completely.
I actually had more drama from dating than from 3somes
