Who is the 2nd best basketball player to EVER come out of UNC ?

College Highlights: In 2001, Joseph was selected as the co-ACC Player of the Year. A consensus First-Team All-America he led Carolina in scoring (20.9), free-throw percentage (.810), three-pointers made (55) and steals (67) as a sophomore.

The 2000 ACC Rookie of the Year, Forte won the Jimmie Dempsey Award given to UNC's overall statistical leader. As a freshmen, he led Carolina in scoring (16.7) and steal s (54), was second in assists (94), and third in rebounds (5.5). Forte was the first UNC freshman to lead the team in scoring since freshmen became eligible to play in 1972-73 and scored 600 points his first season shattering the school record for points by a freshman formerly held by Sam Perkins. A second team All Acc honoree and unanimous selection to the ACC's All-freshman team, Forte was named First-Team freshman All-America by the Sporting News and Second-Team Freshman All-America by Basketball times. He was also named National Freshman of the Year by the Columbus (Ohio) touchdown Club and was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Maui Invitational leading the Tar Heels to three wins and the title. Against Tulsa (11/11/00), He set a Smith Center record with 38 points.

Personal: Forte played for legendary prep coach Morgan Wooten and earned first team All-America honors by USA Today as a senior at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattasville, Md. He averaged 22.1 points, 8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game his final season. As a junior, he averaged 19.2 points and 11.9 points as a sophomore.

YES SIR!!! some of his sucker ass teammates brought him down with jealously

A lot of you obviously just started watching basketball five years ago, and have no idea :smh:

Vince Carter  Joseph Forte

Do you all have any clue who Billy Cunningham and Bob McAdoo are?
Bob McAdoo is a hall of famer and Cunningham was a member of the top 50 :smh:

incredibly difficult question.

james worthy is STILL under-rated to this day, because people aren't hip to what he brought to the actual game. overshadowed by kareem abdul jabbar and the more popular magic johnson.

if i didn't choose james worthy, my personal favorite growing up was the greyhound.

who happens to be half of the backcourt which would answer the later question of best duo: phil ford and walter davis.

each of the above players mentioned were great college ballers of their eras. no disrespect to jordan but he became great when he joined the league. but if i had to choose vince carter while at UNC brought an excitement to the NCAA that hadn't been seen in years. dude was rediculous at UNC. his game was truelly above the rim.. every ESPN college highlight was of VINCE...

Antawn was a better college player than Vince, he wasn't even the best player on his team :smh:

Vince didn't even get college player of the year like Stackhouse and Tawn :smh:

WALTER DAVIS

Dude WAS Michael Jordan before Jordan even got there. Only thing stopped him was a debilitating knee injury, yet he still managed to become a perennial all star

Damn, even Cran forgot about The Greyhound!

EDIT: I see you didn't forget about him Cran, you just had the mofo dead last in your comments

Re: Who is the 2nd best player to EVER come out of UNC ?

Sam Perkins???...you joking right?

Big Game James Worthy is the correct answer...

Yeah man i agree James Worthy. And by the way he was the man at UNC when Jordan was there. Jordan just hit the game winner that year in the National Championship game.

Jordan may not have been the best Tar Heel ever, he did the most after he graduated but while in school, all of these guys were or will be All-Americans.

Charlie Scott
Larry Brown
Billy Cunningham
Bobby Jones
Bob Macadoo
J.R. Reid
Scott Williams
Joe Wolf
Al Wood
James Worthy
Sam Perkins
Brad Dougherty
Kenny Smith
Donald Williams
Joe Forte
Rashard McCants
Rasheed Wallace
Jerry Stackhouse
Jeff Mcginnis
Shammond Williams
Antwan Jamison
Vince Carter
Sean May
Raymond Felton
Brandon Wright
Tyler Hansborough
Ty Lawson

and my protoge' Wayne Ellington

Next to UCLA no school can produce a list like this.

Bob McAdoo UNC '71

He was the only NBA MVP to be left off the NBA greatest 50. He was not a "team guy" and got black balled by the good ole boy network until he became a role player with the Lakers late in his career. The best shooting big guy ever.

James Worthy

The only that stopped MJ in college from being the MJ in the NBA was Dean Smith. He wouldn't let Jordan go out and score 40 or 50 a game. But he was always capable of it.

Re: Who is the 2nd best player to EVER come out of UNC ?

Michael Jordan

I'm only taking into account what was accomplished in COLLEGE
Not what they did afterwards
The BEST player to come out of UNC was PHIL FORD
BILLY CUNNINGHAM (The Kangaroo Kid) is up there as well
You've also got players like WORTHY and PERKINS
MJ might not even crack the top 5 players of all time from UNC

A LOT of people don't remember billy cunningham, but i see that bobby jones got NO love.

i watched stackhouse boom on all 5 orangemen from one step inside the freethrow line

Man, I remember that year (1995) when the whole team was rocking the bald cuts (except for 'Sheed and Donte Calabria) and Carolina blue Jordans (they weren't even out yet at the time)
Those were the shoes, BTW
