Who are your heros?

Who has inspired, influenced, or motivated you in your life, who do you look up to and why?

For me,

My God . . . .and also, my savior.

My Mother because of her strength, and my father for raising me.

My business partner and best boy, the Q- Dawg going for his PHD now at 29. Mad respect, he always reminds me of the success we deserve.

Alex Haley.

Name some people who you see the same!?

My mother for her endurance and her strength.... my grandfather :) even now at 90 he is an inspiration
My little brother who to me represents what black men should be. Raising his two baby girls 5 & 6 alone after their mother passed away. Being there for them from the beginning.

Peace

Moms raised 4 kids through thick and thin always was there. Never had to worry about drugs, partying, men, alcohol, stealing. She is the shitt.

My mother.
She was the sweetest most gentle kind soul I've ever known.
Never had an unkind word to say about anyone.
After she divorced my father, she rose up from nothing and became successful on her own.
God rest her soul.

My sister.
She is developmentally disabled due to head trauma when she was a child.
She works her ass off,is always busy and on the go.
She's hardly home so I don't get to talk to her as often as I want to.:(

My oldest brother.
Owns 5 businesses and is always looking for another hustle.
Doesn't have a selfish bone in his body and is always willing to share his knowledge and put others onto the game.

My mother for teaching me everything i know about life and how to relate to people

My Father for my good looks and Fathering the Whole Triple B Dynasty (me and my 5 Brothers (4 mothers in 3 countries) and he help raise all of us

my Grandmother for moving from China to Jamaica and having my Father

and i find strength and guidance from the lives of these men

My "Heroes" growing up wasn't my parents. They were and still are some wonderful to me but not Hereos. They always wanted me to do better than what they did.

Jesus is the ultimate hero to me now that I am a middle age grown man.
People who were real hereos to me from early child hood was one.

1. John Henry.

2. Louis Armstrong.

3. Jesse Owens. For showing the entire world what a real super man looks like when he runs... A blur.

and I want to option in a Marcus Garvey for independent business thinking.

One personal Heroe. William Yancy Cooper the artist. Who showed me how to believe in my business when I was 16 and I could make it as an artist.

Martin Luther King and the Black people who believed in him to use their economic power for their own good.

And some Salvatore Dali on a creative tip.

For being the definition of the word artist.
And for painting the largest piece of (illegal) artwork ever.
He has the only piece of art that can be seen from space.

His piece on the sloping cement bank of the Los Angeles River is nearly the size of a professional football field. It took 97 gallons of paint and 35 nights to complete.

My Dad, hands down who educated me to be a man not by words but by example… He was not the millionaire in our family. However, he raised three of his kids and eight of others he took in from the family, took care of his wife 14 years who was ill until she passed. Now at 90 he has a young lady (59) that can’t keep up with him sexually!!!! SHIT…. Keep hope alive! I want to still get my issue of some loving at that age!!!

My parents. Married 38 years and they still chase each other around the house and laugh and talk trash and play around...still in LOVE. They were among the first in their families to go to college and they both have advanced degrees. We weren't exactly BALLIN', but they made a great life for us and we had all we ever needed plus some. Great advice/guidance and sometimes a lil overprotective, but they were always fair and didn't punish us for not choosing to do what THEY would have done - they've always been there for us. But most of all, they are Christians who actually walk it like they talk it. They're a rare breed and I'm blessed to have them.

CONGRAGS lady! CONGRAGS!

I have to say my mother and father. My folks got a divorce when I was younger, but my dad has always made it a point to stay close when he could have easily drifted away (like some of the fathers of the kids that I coach ). My mom managed to raise two boys who were pains in the ass while being a black woman in upper level management in corporate america. I was a headache, rebelling because I had to move from Fla and my brother....let's just say he was a nutjob. All the time she somehow found a way to stay on our asses until we matured and turned into upstanding men (at least we think so ). We both own our own things (homes, cars etc.) and are formally educated and now we try our best to repay her for all of her sacrifice. She's a warrior who never thought about herself first (still doesn't). Now if I can get her to stop trying to make me go to church...

In no partcular order:

My parents- Both very bright people in different ways.

Jesus Christ- That often suprises people because I don't identify as a Christian, but I love the New Testament and I am always so touched by Jesus's strength and courage (weight of the world on his shoulders), his kindness and humanity, his no bullshit stance with those that would take advantage of others, and most of all his vulnerability. When he questions whether his burden can be lifted from him- that's so real....and yet he pushed on.

Alice Walker- I've seen her speak and she "gets it" without any pretense or fanfare or pseudo I am woman hear me roar crap. She seems grounded and I admire that in her work and in life. She seems unafraid to tell her truth but with compassion and an eye on redemption (though one might assume different by watching the movie Color Purple- were there any non-abusive black men in that movie besides Buster?:hmm: The book was a different experience as I recall.)

...and anybody bravely walking his/her life path despite tragedies, character flaws, fears, and doubts. All of those nameless ones deserve admiration.

My mother and most definitely, My father. He lived in segregationist Mississippi, moved to the north to work in the rubber factories. He lost his hearing in his 40's to nerve deafness, becoming totally deaf, but he never lost his step. My father was a great husband, father, son and brother. With all the adversities he faced, he never stopped going--his strength amazed me and he was well loved and respected by everyone.

My grandmother. Came to Canada to work as a domestic and on the little money they were paying her she got us all over here. She is not doing well right now, but whenever i think about giving up, i think of her and push myself on.

Co-sign.
My heroes are those people like my mom and my sister who rise to something from nothing, who take the negative that comes along with life and make the best of it, and who stay positive and focused at working towards their goals.

my parents for different reasons:

my mom for being a strong person throughout her life in every situation she has been through, with all the men that have took advantage of her she has still stayed strong to provide for her children.

my dad for coming here in 1980 with nutting, working hard going to school, working full time and supporting a family and still went to graduate school to end with a 3.7 GPA. Now hes living hes version of the American family as he just retired from his job at 55.
