Top 100 Black Films Ever

LMAO still @ Blunt and his endlessly googled fact-o-pinions.
No wiki-quotes about the comic yet?.....I'll wait...

What are you babbling about? Try to make a logical point on your own without sucking someone else's cock for approval.

(Believe it or not some of us actually matured before there was a "Google" and have the ability to acquire information and form opinions based on our own reading, experience and personal observation/viewing. Some of us have also actually seen countless movies on big screens as intended, rather than in stolen form on tiny computer screens. Sorry to break the news to ya, kid, but you didn't invent the wheel, ... and those lame, defensive "Google" jokes apply far more to you than to me.)

Shit, you put "Fresh" on there. Fresh!

What's wrong with Fresh? It's a very highly-regarded film, justifiably so.

Decent list. Jacked up order.

I'm glad he could come up with 100 black-oriented films of reasonable significance (with many worthy ones still absent). That's something that couldn't have been done in 1980. Can't really knock his order if he has an explanation for his choices in his documentary. Judging from the article he purposesly tried to get a rise out of folks with his rankings. (The Color Purple is in no way #2 over Sounder or about 30 others.)

As evidenced by this thread people can't agree on much of anything. Their lists would all be pretty ridiculous too. At least this guy has seen all these movies (as have I) and is knowledgeable enough to put such a discussion-worthy thing together (with a documentary to boot!!). Good for him, even if his taste runs to the "pop" side of things. (I'd like to get intellectual film historian/biographer Donald Bogle's "Top 100 Black Films" list. It'd be different, or at least quite different-ordered.)

Damn!~! He left out Gang of Roses??

All it takes is seeing a Blunt post once then seeing it again 20 minutes later (twice as long, "fact"-checked, more condescending by half) a mere few times to come to such a conclusion about your fact-o-pinions. Even this aside, your demeanor in general, disregarding the few incredulous back-and-forths I've had with you for objectivity's sake, your posts are not submitted as opinion based on epxerience and personal observation. This is what WE are doing.

You are not engaged in conversations about a topic.
Your posts are written as if your opinion carries the weight of fact to anyone outside of Blunt Co. and its workers in the fact-o-pinion mines of Pompousia. Your posts move from "statement of fact-o-pinion" to "offensive rebuttal" without a civil gearshift in the motion. This thread is merely one of a million examples. Not that I really expect the boys at Blunt Co. to rewrite the bylaws at my suggestion, I've got much more meager goals to accomplish. I'll just post my complaint here and watch awestruck, thread after thread, as you work out whatever is your are working out with this superiority complex.

However, perhaps my favorite black oriented movie of all is Christopher Scott Cherot's original version of Hav Plenty, before Babyface fucked it up with an innapropriate soundtrack and a slapped-on happy ending.

This one of the very few black movies wherein middle class black characters are actually motivated by middle class sensibilities, as opposed to a movie like "The Brothers," where a group of educated black professionals sound like nigga who hang out on the corner all day, drinking that wine.

Never knew about a tacked-on ending, but this is still a flick I hold in hella high regard.

Anybody here ever seen Ganja & Hess?

I Won't go head and recommend it to every last one of ya, but this has gone on to be the first "Black Arthouse" flick ever made.

Shawn Edwards is one of the biggest hack film critics in the country. Here is his review for the Britney Spears flick, CROSSROADS:

The guy looses his load over every horrible movie that gets released...I think he gets paid by studios to give their crappy movies good reviews.

Yeah something about this picture sums it all up..

Undercover Brother is a terrific parody of both spy films and "blaxploitation" films. Easily one of the best comedies of the decade, and certainly far and away better than the Wayans type lowbrow "black comedies" that are usually out there.

  I cant believe you said that about that pathetic excuse of a movie.

*** Ah well, to each his own ****

What's "pathetic" about it? You probably got lost thinking it was a serious drama, rather than a sharp (and thoroughly engaging) satire of blaxploitation and Bond flicks. The only worthwhile shit Eddie Griffin's ever done, and the rare black comedy with a brain (thanks to the talented Malcolm Lee).

i think house party should be higher up the list because i don't think I'm the only person to have watched that more then four times!

What about this movie?

I don't think you can put movies on a level with documentaries but these are worthy IMO:

There's some worthy ones there, but also a lot of TV movies and average genre flicks too.

Same South African director and now-adult female star reunite a dozen years later for this moving drama:

No Boomerang, Boycott, tuskegee airmen, mo better blues, panther, Talk to Me(newbut excellent), porgy and bess, men of honor, and more they need to be placed in catagories

The list is great, but the order is truly bizarre. Is this just one guy's personal preferences (which is fine) or a real attempt at an objective ranking based on merit (which is ludicrous)?
She Hates Me missing?????????? :cmonson: the raunchiest Kerry Washington Girl~Girl performance :cmonson:

Yeah apparently he is one of those critics.

More Edwards Gems:

Chronicles of Riddick - "One of the best sci-fi films ever! Extraordinary! A true classic that's not to be missed! Vin Diesel is ecstatically superb."
Are We There Yet? - "A family film that's perfect for everyone. It will have you laughing from beginning to end."
White Chicks – "The funniest comedy of the year. The Wayans brothers have delivered another comedy classic."
Barbershop 2: Back In Business – "The best comedy of the year!"
Cradle 2 the Grave – "Thrilling! DMX and Jet Li are electrifying in this fact paced nonstop action flick."

And this dude has made a documentary about his list it.
The movie Premieres TODAY!!!!!
