nets fans - would this make you happy?

Switch Kidd with Carter and Kwame Brown with Bynum and you got a deal....
Otherwise.......................................................

HEO NAW!!!!!!!!!

Hell NO!!!!! I agree with the Carter statement tho. Lakers had their chance @ Kidd fuck them, if J. Kidd gets traded anywhere I'd want him to go to Cleveland.

Switch Kidd with Carter and Kwame Brown with Bynum and you got a deal![/SIZE]

kwame brown was included solely to obtain the expiring contract.

and i also forgot to include that jordan farmar was included in the deal.

i was actually surprised the fakers were willing to part with so many young players (regardless of estimated talent levels) in order to get back an older veteran in return.

We should already own an expiring contract....Jason Collins!! And getting rid of Carter frees up alot of space

I think the Lakers are playing well right now (aside from Kobe taking some bad shots, but hes making up for it with his passing and defense) and shouldn't make any trades, unless its Kwame for someone else. Dont trade Farmar. he's starting to become more agressive and he's one of the few guys that when hes on the floor with kobe, doesnt look to always get him the ball. Jordan, Sasha and Bynum have all been contributing a lot lately. As for that trade, I would trade Kwame and Luke for Kidd. But then we would have 3 pgs. I wouldnt include Farmar in the deal. He's no CP3 or D. Williams, but he has the potential. Just my opinion.

On a side note, i'd rather trade Kwame and Luke for Artest.
Fischer - pg
Kobe - sg
Bynum - c
Artest - sf
Odom - pf

looks like bad news for you nets fans then.

earvin johnson TODAY said that this is a DONE DEAL.

but earvin johnson isn't mitch kupchak, so we'll wait for an official announcement. will we have to wait until february?

I'd like that deal if the lakers played in the EAST.

In the West, with having Bynum as the only true big man, I still don't see them winning the conference title with Kidd and that just makes it a worthless trade IMO.

Is Farmar ready to be a legit starting PG? If so, the Nets would come out on top because they'll finally get a decent big man, a nice utility player off the bench, and 2 first round picks. If the Nets get a coaching change with their current roster, they'd be contenders. (Is Larry Brown available?)

I still think they are trading the wrong player(s), but I understand how the fans in LA are...Not really being a fan of the team but of individual players on the team. I should have expected the big changes anyway with Phil Jackson signing the extension.

Nets push back planned move to Brooklyn
Associated Press
Updated: January 3, 2008, 1:17 PM EST 15 comments

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The New Jersey Nets will play most or all of the 2009-10 NBA season in New Jersey instead of Brooklyn, a team spokesman said Thursday.

The Nets had planned to play at its new arena in New York starting in 2009. But spokesman Barry Baum said the move to Brooklyn wouldn't happen until sometime in 2010.

The Nets could possibly begin the season at the Izod Center in East Rutherford and move to the new arena, to be called the Barclays Center, in the first half of 2010, Baum said.

In October, Nets principal owner Bruce Ratner told The Associated Press that the new arena probably would not be ready by the start of the 2009-2010 season.

Under terms of their contract with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which operates the Izod Center, the Nets have to give 18 months' notice before they leave to avoid paying a penalty, Baum said.

The Nets haven't broken ground on the new arena, which is part of the Atlantic Yards development that is also set to include office space and as many as 6,400 new apartments. The $4 billion project has faced legal challenges from local residents and environmental groups.

So when is this going to happen? Any Proof?

That Would Be A Dumb Trade For The Nets I Wouldn't Do It If I Were Them.

So when is this going to happen? Any Proof?

so........................whats going on here?

just be patient.

i gave you the words (almost verbatim) that came out of earvin johnson's mouth. but like i said, he's not the GM, so let's see if they can make the deal happen.

Leave us alone damnit. We don't want any of them bums
(you can have VC though....for nothing. Just pick up his contract)

The Nets don't need to change that much to turn this thing around. We do need to get rid of certain dead weight cats though.

But we damn sure need to bring any dead weight in

Kidd & Carter don't mix. Kidd was happiest on the Nets when Kerry Kittles was his backcourt mate. Not the greatest outside shot, but he was a catch and shoot kind of cat that meshed well with Kidd. Carter is a dribblehead that always wants to create his own shots. He wants to catch and shoot 3 pts shots only. A ridiculous strategy if you're trying to win. He is also more suited to the halfcourt game where Kidd is more suited to uptempo fullcourt game. As is much of the Nets roster. Sean and Marcus Williams, Jefferson, Boone, Antoine Wright and even Nachbar all thrive in uptempo games but struggle when you slow the ball down

Kidd forcing Nets' hand on floor
New York Post

Updated: January 29, 2008, 2:25 PM EST

In theory, this should be a get-healthy week for the Nyets, who've misplaced nine straight games, including three at the I-Nod Center, and whose "leaders" have lost their minds.
This just in: The Sonics have filed a protest of complaint with the NBA on account the Nyets didn't come to Seattle on their 0-5 surrender of the western front.

In any event, coach Lawrence Frank and Jason Kidd and Vince Carter return to the Garden State on Tuesday to host the 18-27 Bucks, losers in seven of their last 10. Who among us will be surprised if this is the last time one or all of the above call New Jersey home?

(The Nyets visit the wretched 9-33 Heat on Friday before descending upon Dixie; Atlanta had won once in its last five to start the week.)

From everything I'm hearing, no trades are pending, but management feels it may be forced into making the best one as soon as all the bids are in, particularly with regards to Kidd, whose heart and head aren't into competing for an inferior team.

This was never more clear than at the tail end of the Nyets' pathologically pathetic 98-95 loss to Minny Ha-Ha, whom they led, 95-88, with 1:19 left on the clock.

Granted, Jason Collins, a 35-percent free-throw shooter, shouldn't have been part of the offense at the time. So what does Kidd do? He compounds Frank's fracture by delivering a pass to Collins, who immediately was fouled by Al Jefferson. Collins appled the first free throw and gagged the second.

You expect a bonehead decision like that from a rookie or a journeyman reject, certainly not from a guy reputed to be among the five smartest point guards of all time.

That play said it all to me. Either Kidd was trying to show up Frank or he was making it obvious to owner Bruce Ratner and team president Rod Thorn they're wasting precious time and wins.

Contrary to an "exclusive" in The Record, neither Kidd nor his agent actually asked for a trade.

The part about management being given "permission" to shop Kidd is incomprehensible. Since when does management from any team need approval to deal him from any player, other than Kobe Bryant, who owns the NBA's one and only no-trade clause?

The conversation that took place a couple of weeks ago between Thorn and rep Jeff Schwartz, was exactly the same as the one that occurred last February as that trade deadline rapidly approached and the Lakers declined to include Andrew Bynum in a package for Kidd. "Do something to make yourselves a contender or please deal Jason to a contender," Schwartz told Thorn in essence.

That's what the Nyets have been doing, first by re-investigating the pluses and minuses of acquiring Jermaine O'Neal. Last summer there was a deal on the table for Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic. Had Marcus Williams been included, it would've happened.

When the Pacers' $20 million forward/center got hurt again, the Nyets refocused on reducing their cap by trading Kidd for young players, expiring contracts and draft picks.

At that time, the Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets and Mavericks were identified as suitors. There have been no new revelations since.

Are the Nyets happy they may very well have to regroup by taking a couple of giant steps backward? No. But Kidd's brain-drain and heartless direction over the last eight-to-nine games — which can be directly traced to the team going through the motions — has given management no choice.

Fact is, Kidd has shown little leadership since subverting Byron Scott.

As for the Nyets' current outgoing coach, things are so bad Isiah Thomas is now hawking "Fire Frankincense" T-shirts.

I'm guessing they're wet T-shirts.

Afterthought: Seems to me the Nyets have taken the "Guns for Tickets" promo one step farther — in that most of those who in attendance already are there at gunpoint.

It's getting downright filthy in the Romney-McCain battle leading up to today's Florida primary; so much so that each guy has bribed Pat Riley to endorse the other.

Congratulations to the Heat for terminating their interminable losing streak. Padre Riles went from "15 Strong" to "15 Wrong."

That's why I hate the Post.

Which is owned by Rupert Murdoch
Who is George Steinbrenner's buddy
Who owns controlling interest in the NJ Nets

One thing about Kidd. I remember when he first got traded to NJ. He never seemed like he actually wanted to be on the east coast.
Always seemed to have one foot out the door (if you know what I mean)

Had to post this. Made me feel a little better

Shocking dialogue: Isiah Thomas has a deal for Rod Thorn

By Kelly Dwyer

Alan Hahn put a column together today that details Zach Randolph's frustrations with life as a New York Knick. He also went as far to report about a proposed deal with the New Jersey Nets that would have sent the power forward to New Jersey, but the Knicks turned the potential transaction down because it would involve Vince Carter heading to NYC.

Now, Hahn's a terrific reporter, but this is just bad journalism, and you deserve better. A tape of Nets boss Rod Thorn and New York counterpart Isiah Thomas talking has been floating around the internets all day. Luckily, I took the time to transcribe it for you.

Rod Thorn: Hi Isiah. I'm going to have to make this short, I just finished a conversation with one of my players, and now my desk reeks of torched mahogany and fire extinguisher fumes.

Isiah Thomas: Kidd got another triple-double last night?

Thorn: Wait, how do you know about ...

Isiah: What do you think of Zach Randolph?

Thorn: Ugh.

Isiah: What do you mean, "ugh." The man is a scoring machine!

Thorn: That is true.

Isiah: You guys can barely put together 40-point halves.

Thorn: 40. About what you're paying Larry Brown to not coach you this year?

Isiah: Well-played.

Thorn: Sorry, man. Fumes.

Isiah: I love Zach Randolph. Truly love him. Love that game, love his smile, love his ...

Thorn: You want to trade him here?

Isiah: Totally.

Thorn: Jason Collins, Antoine Wright, Jamaal Magloire.

Isiah: "Sucks, tuberculosis, ball-point pen." I love word association!

Thorn: No. that's what I'll give you for Randolph.

Isiah: I know. I cheated on the "pen"-thing. There's one on my desk.

Thorn: I could kind of tell.

Isiah: Yeah. Zach's really turned things around. I just need more room in the low post for Eddy Curry.

Thorn: Isn't he a little strip club-happy? He's not going to be happy with the Tuesday afternoon fare here in East Rutherford.

Isiah: Not anymore. I told him that strip clubs around here only have doors on the right side, and open from the middle-out. He won't use his right hand, so he won't go to any.

Thorn: [Flippin'] genius.

Isiah: I know, right? I also drafted David Lee.

Thorn: Why won't he ask a teammate for help, you know, opening the doors for him?

Isiah: That's the thing, and I see it on the court all the time: he won't ask for help. His man blows by him, and he keeps it all to himself. A real man's man, Zach is.

Thorn: Did you tell him that only worked in New York?

Isiah: I said, "the whole tri-state area."

Thorn: [Flippin']-a. You're brilliant.

Isiah: Renaldo Balkman, my man. Renaldo Balkman.

Thorn: OK, I'll give you Vince Carter for him.

Isiah: Can you get him out of his Raptors contract, too?

Thorn: Why does everyone think that he plays for the Raptors, too?

Isiah: He looks awfully tired.

Thorn: Maybe he does play for the Raptors ...

Isiah: Either way, I can't take Vince.

Thorn: Why not?

Isiah: Overpaid. Takes too many jumpers. Doesn't play defense. Pouts like some MySpace-addled emo [rear-end]hole. Not my style.

Thorn: Not your style? Stephon Marbury-not your style, or Jamal Crawford-not your style?

Isiah: That's in the past, man. This is 2008. We're in it to win a championship.

Thorn: Have either you, or Jason Kidd, heard of the San Antonio Spurs? The Pistons, even?

Isiah: It's what we were put on Earth to do. It's a dream that we're trying to make reality. I won't stop working until I put a banner up at Madison Square Garden.

Thorn: What?

Isiah: Sorry, man. Dolan just walked by my office. Dude's got ears for days. Anyway, I don't want Carter. We have a no-headband rule.

Thorn: That's incredibly untrue.

Isiah: Don't hire Canadians.

Thorn: Born in Florida. Not Canadian.

Isiah: We retired number 15. Twice.

Thorn: Vince will wear 14.

Isiah: About what you're going to have to pay Lamar Odom next year?

Thorn: I had that coming.

Isiah: What about sending us Kidd?

Thorn: Won't Marbury mope a ton?

Isiah: No way. Steph and I are tight. He's in my office right now.

Thorn: Really? Put him on the phone.

Isiah: Uh, sure.

Stephon Marbury: Hi, Rod Thorn.

Thorn: That you, Steph?

Marbury: Yes. I'm totally Stephon Marbury. Best point guard in the game. My shoes are awesome. I get everybody involved.

Thorn: Renaldo?

Renaldo Balkman: Yes, uh ... no?

Thorn: We worked you out before the draft. I remember your voice. Marbury was in New Jersey for a few years, too.

Balkman: I'm totally Stephon Marbury. Isiah Thomas doesn't hit me. I fell down some stairs. Playoffs in '09, championship in '10!

Thorn: Tell Isiah he can have Carter.

Balkman: What, that [wussy]? Are the Raptors cool with that?

Thorn: Hangs up phone.

Balkman: Are you hanging up the phone? Why did you just say that out loud?

Thorn: The guy writing this isn't good at dialogue.

Balkman: Dwyer?

Thorn: Yeah. (Hangs up phone.)
