My feedback on Fiasco's new album.

I think the album is aight.

I've been listening to Lupe since his old FNF mixtapes. But it seems like he's trying too hard to go left with his production now. His rhymes are the same as they've always been. But there are way too many skippable songs on this new disc.

^^^^^^^^ man i will bump the track I dislike most of MM before I listen to any snoopy tobasco track

Whoahhhhh -- Hold UP.....
What did he say about Midnight Marauders?
The Knucklehead Lupe said:
“I respect hip-hop and i dont know one word of Midnight Marauders and truthfully dont have the interest to go and find out…”

Wow big deal:hmm::hmm:
you are probally under 25 so that comment is expected
thats what i call blasphemy tho, dude did a tribute to tribe on the hh honors and then he goes and says some shit like that, kids have no respect for there elders
Midnight is prolly one of the best overall albums ever made in hiphop top to bottom

I googled it; it turns out he said a little more than that. Basically he didn't grow listenin to Tribe so he doesn't know their records which aint a crime, but after gettin checked fuckin up the Tribe Tribute on VH1 honors, he jumped stupid and talkin bout he didn't need to listen to Midnight Marauders, wasn't missin shit, and wasn't gonna listen to it on some 'who cares?' shit.

I'm a fan of Lupe, but he's a professional rapper, and not that knowin that record is HIS BAD. HE looks stupid from it, and HE is the one sleepin on a classic. His response made him look like a child. Can you imagine any serious saxoponist like, "Shit, I grew up on Sonny Rollins, so fuck Giant Steps?"

Still a fan, but I figured he had more sense than that.

The production killed it for me. Alot of the beats sounded dumb as shit and the hottest beat on the whole album was a dedication(Track 2). Yo I'm listening it to like "yo lupe about to kill it!" and this nigga don't even spit over it..what a waste, shit was a let down forrealz. Lyrics was on point but he was all over the fuckin place on the album. Oh did I say the production was trash? :smh:

Thanks BGOL. I now understand why I hear and see so much mainstream WACK SHIT. Gots ta give the people what they want. :smh:

Side note: Is it just me or is this the worst 4th quarter in recent memory? Lupe & Freeway are the only joints I think I'll knock for a while.

man this post made me listen to this album that I downloaded weeks ago. I've been bumping that Little Brother for the past few weeks. ANyways, the album got some jamz on it. I can understand how some people feel though about his voice. He got flow but his voice ain't all that. He's like the opposite of Guru to me. Guru has a tight voice but his flow is off. but both of them have substance. Is Lupe boring? Uhhh I dunno. I think he could improve in the charisma arena. Some of the songs lack a certain energy to me even though I still like them. I'm interested in seeing him in concert now. This album definitely ain't trash. I can't help but think that if this album came out during the 90s then it would get more props. That being said, the garbage that permeates today's market and presents itself as hip hop has seriously affected the masses taste buds.

I personally love it. I ignore all of my other ipod music now just to listen to my lupe fiasco playlist.

Got the first and second album in it.

still have to keep listening but its one of the more lyrically creative albums of the year--i was really feelin dumb it down and superstar, but hip-hop u saved me was dope, gold watch is my shit, i think it has potential to grow cause its not all anthemic like most albums today

he lost my support after the Tribe shit, he shoulda manned up and been like 'i didn't know the words, thats it' instead he exposed himself as a studio skateboarder who's a reverse sell out--he got the right to sya Tribe wasn't all that (its kinda pushing it for him to present himself as a hip-hopper and sya that), but all that other I had a rover, and my peeps is gangstas, ugk & 8-ball is irrelevant

these niggas need media training, get off these dvds and websites, shut the fuck up and make music

^^^Dude, I hate Lil Wayne, Baby and all that other wack and uncreative garbage and though it can be argued that Lupe and Wayne share similar flow patterns and cadence, they spectrums apart as far as subject matter goes. (with Lil Wayne being at the lower range)

I tip my hat to you for even admitting that much, because most of these niggas won't.

I've been saying this shit for damn near two years now.

The only difference between the two is their subject matter, because both of them don't make any sense sometimes.

But when Wayne doesn't make any sense his fans don't really care.

When Lupe doesn't make sense, his fans pretend he said something "deep"

Been bumpin this album for a few, this album is a solid follow up to food & liquor, much better than that Beanie Sigel bullshit that's out. Lupe's got a solid spot in the rotation between Jigga, Freeway, and Ledisi.

Fuck outta here with that blasphemy shit.

Why do you folks feel like people have to hear and know every single album, DJ, and breakdance move from the "golden era" to be considered hiphop?

I'm 20 years old and I've heard more of that shit shit than most of my peers but still.

I've heard Midnight Marauders, and it didn't do shit for me. I personally like Low End Theory WAY better.

So what does that make me?

I mean shit, I like Pete Rock and Cl Smooth and I like the old Prodigy and whatnot, but I CAN'T FUCKING STAND DE LA SOUL

Is that blasphemy?

I'm not going to lie, the OP was pretty damn funny.

However, I think The Cool is one of the best hip-hop albums of the year. I'm really digging it. There are a few misses, but overall, an incredibly solid album that isn't saying the same shit every other rapper is. I appreciate that.

That pic is funny as shit!
But The Cool is easily one of the best rap albums of the year.
But its for listeners. IMO he's lyrically in a league of his own, but he's subtle...its for listeners.

I think that's what throws people off a little. His metaphors and similes aren't as readily evident as say a Lil Wayne or one of those guys. This album is not garbage like so many noted earlier in this thread. You just have to listen closely, and even multiple times, to truly understand the depth of this young kid's mind. If you don't care about lyricism, then this is not the album for you.

Wayne's fans are like a cult. To them, Wayne can do no wrong, no matter how wrong he is. As a matter of fact, I heard one of the worst songs today and it was a Wayne record. I don't dislike Lil Wayne. In fact, I like him. I just don't think he's the G.O.A.T. I don't even really believe he's the best doing it right now. He may be the hardest working and appears on more songs than just about anyone else, but I do not believe he's the best.

I don't believe Wayne is the best right now either. He just utilized one of the 48 laws of power to perfection:

Law 34

Be Royal in your Own Fashion: Act like a King to be treated like one

The way you carry yourself will often determine how you are treated; In the long run, appearing vulgar or common will make people disrespect you. For a king respects himself and inspires the same sentiment in others. By acting regally and confident of your powers, you make yourself seem destined to wear a crown.

Say your the best(or the King) and stand behind that shit, and watch them follow...
