What do you think about UFOs?

True Story.

Back in 1986 my mother and I saw one together. It was late summer because it was after 9:30 and it was dark. This is Cleveland, Ohio and I am 9 years-old and I'm supposed to be in bed. My lil brother (7) and older sis (13) were already sleeping and my brother and I shared a room.

My house on Robertson (off Miles) was the 5th house from the corner. We had one of the tallest houses on the street, so I could see over all of the houses and over Miles Elementary School just across the street from the corner house. I had no business up, but I couldn't sleep so I figured I'd wait and watch the sky until my father got home from 2nd shift.

Anybody who lives where there isn't TOO much light in a certain part of the city can see stars, helicopters, and planes in the night sky. I used to look for them. I was a bored kid in a low-middle class family with a father that didn't buy toys too often. I had to entertain myself.

On that night I looked out of my parent's window overlooking the eastern sky. I saw what looked like a helicopter (at least with the lights). The thing is it was going in a zigzag pattern. I figured it was kinda low because of the small lights but it just kept coming toward me. It came even closer to where it was zigzagging above the school, only 5 houses and across a street away. No panic. This was no helicopter.

By the time it got over my neighbor's house I was sure of what it was. A UFO! Even at 9 I had been into animals watching Marty Stouffer's Wild America and every animal show I could find. I had never seen this in any animal show I'd seen. It was slightly longer than a city bus spun on its axis. Flashing lights in a rainbow of colors was amazing. It flew over all of my neighbor's houses and came right towards me!

It was over the front side window, but from my second floor perch in the front room of my house I had a bird’s eye view. I was in awe as it slowly flew over head. It made about as much noise as a microwave when it runs...it was that quiet. It was kinda similar in dimension to "Flight of the Navigator"...without the slightly odd shape. Right now I was staring at it's underbelly as it flew over my house. When I could no longer see it I could see its lights illuminating the front windows of my home, bathing it with a soft white glow.

My mother was still up. She definitely wasn't in her room where I was standing. I ran down stairs, "Mom, you gotta look! You gotta look" as she sat in the dining room on the first floor but opposite my perch window. I dragged her to the dining room, but because of the neighbor's huge tree all we could see was the glow of the lights.

I had an idea to go to the back porch. I didn't think of this at the time, but my porch only covered 60% of the back of the house. It covered from the side of the house where I was perched to just before my bedroom window on the opposite back end of the house. We wouldn't have been able to see anything there. This is where a weird night gets weirder. The UFO was visible on the front westward side of my house, out of our view…or so we thought.

This UFO flew/hovered over my neighbor’s driveway over the houses and hovered 10-12 feet from my back porch over my neighbor’s yard and mine! The amazing thing was how quiet it was. And to look at it! It had black windows like a 2-way mirror/visor. Neither my mom nor I could see inside. We stood out there and stared at this great big thing like kids in awe of Santa Claus. Aside from taking an occasional glimpse of each other we were focused on the UFO.

After glaring at this thing for at least five minutes (probably more) we decided to try to wake my sister and brother up. We took turns, mom with my sister and me with my brother, but to no avail. We finally decided that it wasn’t meant for them to see. We leaned on the rickety banister less than a stones throw away from the single most amazing thing either of us had ever seen! How long were we out there? 30 minutes? 15? Who knows? Who cares?

I guess the UFO got bored with us and it slowly gained altitude (only 5-10 feet so that it could clear my neighbor’s garage), turned right facing west, and away from us. Almost without warning it took off down the street with such speed that it looked as it had been shot out of a cannon. I don’t remember it even stirring a leave in its takeoff.

We talked for an hour until my old man came home…he didn’t believe us. The next morning we told my sister and brother and they did believe us. Even though I have never seen anything like it before that was the single greatest thing I ever saw. Nobody could call me a liar on this. I know what I saw.

Hey, tripster google "philadelphia experiment". We actually did time travel back in the day. But the grays being evolved human beings, it's too much information out there to conflict with that theory.

I'm pretty sure your story isnt a lie. You and your mother must have genuinely believed you saw a UFO. With that in mind.... Did you and mommy have taste of that rock candy daddy always hides?

Do you guys actually believe we have encountered a species more technologically advanced than we are? Do you know how those encounters always end?

:smh: It never fails. If we encountered extra terrestrials we would know it.

A civilization thousand or millions of years more advanced than our own would most likely have evolved to such an extent that violence in unknown or at least rare. Hence, they would have no need or inclination to conquer or subjugate humans.

Amazing story, GOW. My mom would always tell me about the time when she saw a UFO when she was a little girl maybe about 10 or so. She was walking home from church with my grandmother and her sister. This object was hovering over some trees about 30 feet in front of them. It glowed different colors and didn't make a sound.

My mom told me that she was trying to get my grandmother's attention asking her "what is that". My grandmother just said, "its nothing....keep walking". I'm sure my grandmother was frightened to death, but played it cool so that my mom and my aunt wouldn't get scared.

I always used to tell my mom that she was just seeing things. But she always told me..."I know what I saw".

Like I said earlier, I was very much an unbeliever until recently. The research I've done is just TOO compelling to discount.

Yes I do believe UFO's and other planetary civilizations exist. I've stated my views on this many times before so I won't waste time here. I do believe as man pushes further into space we will find out the truth.

You cant be serious :hmm:
You have no basis for that answer. Man hasn't shown any signs of slowing down when it comes to violence. We have simply found different outlets to indulges our lust for violence. For all we know man may become more violent as they evolve.

Why is this so hard for people to believe? I agree that some people are lying about seeing one, but to believe that EVERYONE is lying?

This comparison is just plain RETARDED

You're comparing a species that has a long sad history of volatile tribal warfare against each other with an unknown alien species who have technologically and spiritually evolved in unison to a point where they have mastered interplanetary travel and have come to understand the benefits of benevolence.

Now I'm not saying there aren't negative E.T.s out there but to assume that their psychological make up is as primitative as ours is a stretch.

And besides if a alien species wanted to take control of a primitive planet such as Earth they wouldn't do it so blatantly, it would be from behind the scenes and subtle. The threat of us destroying ourselves by defending ourselves would make the planet unappealing and worthless.

Thanks for sharing your experience GOW. I also saw some things in my childhood. My earliest sighting was during a summer night when I was 9-10back in 76/77. We lived on the first floor of a duplex right across the street from an 8ft fenced, open grassy field that was a city block long and 1/2 as wide. I woke up to a bright light coming into my bedroom window that faced the field so I climbed off the top bunk to look out the window.

What I saw can still cause my heart to beat faster when I think about it. There was this large squat football shaped glowing object in the field no more than 200 feet away. Actually the thing was above the field about three feet or so and it was glowing brightly. I mean it looked like it was daytime where the light was. The street was lit up the street lights had turned off the neighbors houses and their cars were lit up like it was daytime!

Now mind you it was summertime and hot so all the windows were open. I was practically outside except for the screen but I couldn't hear anything! I pressed my face against the screen to look further left and right, up and down but nothing. No normal noises like crickets or frogs or dogs or cars. NOTHING except for the wind.

The UFO didn't make any noise either unless you count the rustling sound of the tall weeds and grass that was underneath it. They moved like waves, swirling and swaying in unison one way and then another.

I tried to wake my younger brother on the bottom bunk but he wouldn't budge so I went back to looking at it. I could tell it was metallic but it also seemed like the light was coming through the metal or was just on the surface of the metal. (hard to explain) Suddenly it shot straight up and my head followed it giving me a screen burn on my forehead and nose. That thing kept going straight up until it looked like a star in the night sky. I kept looking for awhile longer and then noticed that the crickets and frogs started up again. I climbed back into my top bunk but couldn't go to sleep till the sun came up.

I told my parents that morning, but they called it a dream. My brother and I went across the street to the field and I could see a roundish patch of tan/brown grass. The rest of the grass and weeds were green. When I told my parents I got yelled at for crossing the street and taking my little brother with me. Days later there were signs put up on the fence saying no tresspassing. So I was scared to climb the fence after that but I wanted so bad to get over to that dead patch of grass.

Good story

I still have yet to see a UFO (flying disc), but I have seen some peculiar military planes.

but if anyone has seen the movie Fire in the sky I saw something similar to what the lumberjacks saw in the woods. A bright red illuminating light coming from deep inside the woods. It wasn't a fire and it just looked odd.

That might have been your disc. The color of illumination is said to correlate to the level of energy being expended by the vehicle. Red is the lowest while blue is the highest.

It more than likely was, and like I said the light was emitting in the middle of nowhere deep in the woods. I have a tendency to say I have yet to see one because I have never visually saw a disc with my eyes.
