Speaking on such live forums is not easy.
I think he answered the question and explained himself. He meant in terms of what they are faced with, not in racial overtones, if, you think he came across as such, watch again...
Edwards is sincere, but won't be elected obviously, because, we are on much harsher terms, nowdays.
It's a matter of fact situation, to most politicians on how to deal with inner city vowes, he gave examples, crack sentencing vs. coke sentencing, offers insight, and solutions, deal with it...
I think he answered the question, there needs to be structure for kids in the community, but he didn't give any plausible ideas about building the structure.
But that's what he was supposed to do. He was supposed to go into a forum already understanding what their community is facing and why. He was supposed to say, "we are going to funnel some money into this area and areas like this one to help build up the community". Maybe then people would have a sense of ownership.
If he would come in with that, the people in the community would have a reason to get involved. But he did what all liberal politicians do (I say liberal because they are the only ones allowed to come into a black community) toss out buzz words, crack, gun play, failing schools, gang violence, and everybody thinks they understand.
I know they understand, they are not interested in doing shit about it.
They almost never show forums with community leaders who can do more than ask softball questions like this little girl did.

Hey I couldn't agree with you more. We need real plans for stopping what's happening to black and brown children. To be fair I don't think Edwards was in a position to go into depth about the problem but he did show he has a grasp of the situation which is more than I can say about the other candidates. Also Edwards speaks about "Two Americas", how corporate America has eliminated almost any hope of a fair judicial and economic system. The man deserves credit I just wish he had the stature it takes to start a populist movement this election.
That's not actually what he saidThat's not actually what he said but he's still wrong. What he said was more of the "the sky is falling" rhetoric that we usually only hear from old Black people. I'm disturbed that it's crossed over even to educated people, of any race, that should know better.
Yep, that might have been the dumbest statement so far but it's early.
I'm still supporting him because only Rudy winning the GOP nomination would make me vote for Hillary.
"Two Americas", you beleive he lives in the same america you do his dumb ass dont get clowned for his stupid comment !!he gets $700.00 haircuts, fuck that shit buy some clipers and cut you own shit! he is corporate america he made all his money in class action lawsuits him and his lawfirm ! dont fall for the okey doke !Hey I couldn't agree with you more. you give him a pass you probably hoping for a bigger welfare check don imus said some funny shit if he was black! got fired you hate him! but will vote for the real idiot, you must not have mirrors in youre home!cause you cant see who the problem is.Speaking on such live forums is not easy.

much respect for your deep an honest response, why you ? why not you ? what happened to personel responsibility im sure you know that well! but why is that not the message? instead, its let the government take care you, early child care programs, take the bond from the parents put youre youre childs needs in the hands of the government?a kid needs the4 proper time to bond with his or her parrents not with some emloyee of the government !Edwards doesn't live in the same America as me but I believe we are from the same America. His life story is a lot like mine. His pop's worked in a mill for a living like mine and he instilled priniciples in his son like mine did. We both got some breaks in life and accumulated so dough. I think we both question why I got lucky and so many of the people I grew up with didn't. Plus when you get some age on you, have some kids, the world looks entirely different, you start thinking that could be my child on the news, why is my government not doing anything about this. I think Edwards is a small-town, southern populist, who for several reasons hasn't got his message out, he's the least likely to sell out the country imo. He's right about kids in the innercity needing structure. CNN is reporting today how Montana used PSA's to cut meth use among teens by 50%, that strategy would work for us too but we need to be the ones doing it not waiting for politicans from the 'other' America to do it for us. I'm sure our black rap star's, movie & tv celebs, high profile ministers, community activist, Congressional Black Caucus members, know about the power of the media they should be the ones building that structure not John Edwards.
Sorry, none of the current GOP candidates are getting my vote!Only a staunch republican supporter would spin his statement like that. Sorry, none of the current GOP candidates are getting my vote!
BTW, if young Black folk don’t start taking a hard line against crime against each other, then all of the other shit is a moot point! As if we don't have any other options but to violate each other.

you have said what i wish would be taught in our schools i apoligize for my coments made towards you you are to be admired for this great post!thanks!Don't try to slip that welfare, food stamp, public assistance, section 8, free cheese, nonsense in on me, like I'm on a free pass.
I don't associate with criminals so why the hell would I care, if they are being prosecuted for crimes they commit? As for fairness of sentencing, I beg to differ...
I voiced my opinion and I don't give a fuck about Imus. I already stated Edwards will NOT be elected. I have plenty of situations, mirrors, LOL.
I care about problems because, people let situations become problems and sometimes we can relate to foolishness & learn from examples.
Frankly, I'm disgusted with hook ups, easy outs of drug trade and internet pimpin', welfare fraud, ghetto fabulous, black vs. black crime rate, the single parent vs marriage rates of black people in America.
Hold fast to who you are as an individual and don't try to get over because it's not going to turn out right for you.
Btw, stop making excuses for not being succesful, if you haven't accomplished anything. Don't ask for equality, if you are not willing to try to succeed. It takes dedication and discipline, perseverance and sacrafice, live and learn or lay back and die...

"OUR STORY" that just dont seem right to say and ask for a wealth of resources to to use to pass on factual knowledge . first one must not separate ones self in the hopes of being looked as equal .I don't think we as black people and be taught the truth in most schools. We are outstanding, special, unique, the ROOT of humankind.
Public schools are fine, because we need time to work and take care of ourselves, children. These schools serve as a supplemental. Actually, we need a wealth of resource available to use to pass on factual knowledge, something besides a slavery museum, but rather an account of actual events thru a timeline.
A place, where we can go, visit, listen to or be guided, a website, like webster's online dictonary, but encyclopedia online, unedited to be able to view OUR STORY. A resource, you feel what I'm saying? If there is such a place, fill me in...
