Jay-Z today is like watching Barry Bonds. Even at 43 dudes still hitting 30 HR's. He's not 40/40 gold glove Barry anymore and doesn't play defense like he used to though, and that's what we long for.
Jay-Z is still better than most of the game, but his skills have eroded from what they once were. Mainly because he's at a place and different level and doesn't have that same desire. He just goes through the motions.

Some people can only play to the level of their opponents and since the game (Hip-Hop) is so weak maybe that's why it seems like Jay's not trying.

So the only thing that can make him have a burst of creative energy is to see a movie about a drug dealer? I like lil Wayne, but if you want to get down to the nitty gritty on Wayne, he was much better back in the day. He was more New Orleans.
