The Drop : A Snowfall Saga Discussion Thread

Man, brothers haven’t been this hyped since Lawrence left that blue Polo hanging in Issa’s closet. Not since Laura Charles told Bruce Leroy, “You sure look like a Master to me”. Since the waitress on 39th and Lenox called to say she uses milk and cream in the hot chocolate because she thinks you kinda sweet. Ain’t nothing better than a fine, confident woman shooting her shot.

Wendy... I mean Wanda, what you fin' to do? I'm about to handle some bidness right quick. I'll get with you later, My Friend.

I tried watching it with my wife
Shit all over the place imo
That weird ass looking producer boy ruining things :roflmao:
This has the feel of a we are woman we can make it story

I agree, the shit is wack, I feel like they trying to regain the buzz that Snowfall got but this spin off is just not it. I was done after the first episode. It just seems like a show that has no real direction.

This show all over the place
No backstory to nothing
Random bs taking place
I’m gonna start watching it with the same mindset as ATLANTA

I'm still digging the show. This week's episode did some emotional heavy lifting with Leon reminiscing over people he's lost and Momma G still processing her grief over the loss of her daughter. I'm looking forward to next week when Leon finally finds out what actually happened to his mother.

NGL, I'm digging that Back 2 Da Hood track.
The Momma G storyline is taking too long and is too fragmented to care about. It drags the show over all. The focus of the show are these young people trying to make it in their era... this stuff about how lamar's mother died and what exactly was his grandmothers hand in all of it is NOT as compelling as theyre trying to make it to be. And stretching it out over the course of a season is just too underwhelming. Theres no revelation we can learn that will make her character anymore interesting.

Thank you
You can miss an episode or 2 and not miss shit

Devoting an entire epiaode to it wasn't really necessary.

thats called Filler... :giggle:

honestly....the show leaves ALOT on the table. Maybe their pacing themselves because it IS a series..and you gotta leave some development for future seasons. But right now is just lot of broad strokes and no details...we've seen Leon go from gangster to philosopher but he really doesnt DO anything in terms of his change. Give some of Momma G's time to develop HIS story. All we know about Leon is he sits in a office and talks to lawyers about helping the people in his community navigate the legal system when it ensnares them. But we dont see him interact in that world in any real way.

Theres a lot more they could be doing with Wanda but I'm guessing their pacing that out for future seasons.

Lamar is annoying to watch but the most frustrating thing about him is we dont see his creative process. He's supposed to be a massively talented beatmaker/producer but...HOW? Again some of Momma G's time could be used to show HOW he makes a beat. People LOVE watching the creative process of shit.

Mykelti Williamson is SORELY underused....

and we're four pages in and aint NOBODY got anything to say about redbone??

because she is an Ayesha Curry look alike and make up does wonders
she looks rough in a lot of pix

I keep asking my wife if I missed something on Leon's story and its nope
the story should center around SYMBA imo
I enjoy seeing Lamar get his jaw rocked/for the record i swore that was a woman

This shit is wack. They keep repackaging boys in the hood menace to society and all the other hood movies and feeding it back to us. The momma g story line was bogus. Lamar's character is beyond lame. They'll probably have a season 2 but writing is ass. Shit can't hold a candle to snow fall but watch on the finale they probably have a cameo of Franklin to have viewers wanting another season

this is what i keep saying
i'll be wildly surprised this shit gets picked up for a season 2

Franklin probably dead at this point.. or in the final scene theyll show someone from the back(implied to be him)walking out of either prison or rehab only to be gunned down in a drive-by..

Leon:"SAAAAAIIINNNT!!!!"

I was gonna say she sight but she yellow with pretty eyes and she aggressive. That shit sexy lol.

I understand him I guess that’s why I don’t mind him. He’s clearly on the spectrum.
I was thinking the same thing but this was the late 80s/early 90s no one knew about that OR would care even if they had a clue. Street niggas aint known for patience. especially when he flares up. :giggle:... you talk reckless you get dealt with...ask Dara about that when Dione hemmed her up without hesitation.

They need better writers. Nothing about the storyline seems innovative. It’s the same ole stuff we’ve already seen.

So the season is in the books. I'll say it was good, but not great, and my issue is going to be this: in the original Snowfall, the main character is based obviously on Freeway Ricky Ross, but as is the case with most drug kingpins, drug lords, gang leaders, or mafia dons, most of their life was not recorded on tape, so it's easy to take their stories and craft a fictional narrative from it.

When we move the story to the early 1990s, the West Coast hip hop scene has blown up all over the state, so how does a fictional rapper exist in Artillery exist in 1990-91 when we know and have documented footage of what was going on?
