Restricted free-agent guard Reggie Jackson has reached agreement on a five-year, $80 million extension with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Pistons president and coach Stan Van Gundy wanted to fully commit to Jackson as one of the franchise's cornerstones and will do so with a substantial investment of $16 million per season. There is no player option in the contract, league sources said.

Van Gundy and general manger Jeff Bower negotiated the deal with Jackson's agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA, over the past 48 hours at the Orlando summer league.

Jackson hadn't pursued offer sheets on the market this summer, focusing on working out a deal with Detroit.

In October, Jackson turned down a four-year, $48 million-plus extension offer with the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Jackson was traded to the Pistons in February, and eventually showed significant flashes of the talent that been relegated to playing behind All-Star Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City. Jackson has had a strong determination to run an NBA team of his own and formed a strong bond with Van Gundy and the young Pistons' core.

Jackson's deal is among the richest of the NBA's young point guard crop. In 27 games after the Oklahoma City Thunder traded him to Detroit in February, Jackson averaged 17.6 points, 9.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds.

In three-plus seasons with the Thunder after getting drafted 24st overall in 2011, Jackson averaged just under 10 points per game as Westbrook's understudy.
Reggie was solid and got paid.

Norris was a career 7 point scorer, ain’t nobody was giving him 80 million dollars to score 7 fucking points! :roflmao:

Yup. Smart move

Another reason why I dislike the internet. Magic didn't buy the dodgers; he bought into the Dodgers or a paid for some equity of the Dodgers. He wasnt and never was the principal owner or a major owner! He owns 2%. Im not discrediting him or how much he owns. Its the headline and just trying to get people to click on it! Thats the issue!!

I agree, because this clickbait shit is getting out of hand.

I wish people reporting things keep it real instead of looking for a reaction lying about shit with their captions.

I mean magic johnson is a very smart businessman which I will definitely give him credit for.

This is why I never fucked with this guy, and HATED that Bomani took his best shot with him as a co - host. He should have tried with the white dude Reali. Those two could have then been groomed to take over PTI. Pablo is quietly on some fuck Black excellence shit :thefinger:

Really? I don't see it you gotta break it down

Boston wasn't giving him the max.

Isaiah Thomas says he played through the injury that cost him a $200,000,000 supermax, nobody warned him it could end his career. One year later, he signed for $2M

“I get traded to Cleveland. I’m upset because at that point I put my career on the line for something, you could’ve just broke down to me and told me: if you do play, or if we do this, it could possibly be what it happened to be. None of that was stated.”

“It took me three years to really get back to who I am. It was a tough situation, a learning experience for myself. I got real love for Boston and everybody in that organization, I’m not blaming Boston, I’m not blaming those guys, people know what happened, it’s documented.”

“It sucks, because so much was on the line. If I got All-NBA that following year, I’m a super max guy, I’m eligible for the super max. So all of that is in play. That sucks… but you live and you learn. That hurt, because I put my career on the line. And then you trade me too.”

And the union and EVERY PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE OUT IF THE LEAGUE COMING IN THE LEAGUE SHOULD NEVER FORGIVE OR FORGET WHAT DANNY AINGE DID.

Whenever sone fan talks about LOYALTY bring this up and then walk away
