CONGRATULATIONS BRUH...YOU JUST BECAME A STATISTIC!!!!!
Black men are arrested for domestic violence at disproportionately higher rates than white men. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Black individuals experience intimate partner violence (IPV) at elevated rates. Consequently, Black men are arrested for these offenses at higher rates, often compounded by systemic policing factors.
Black men face substantially higher rates of arrest for IPV compared to their white counterparts. For instance, data indicates that Black men are significantly more likely to be arrested during domestic incidents, a disparity that some criminological studies—such as those exploring arrest likelihood—attribute not only to differing underlying behavioral rates but also to racial disparities in law enforcement practices.
Based on national population data, the
27,000 annual arrests break down into the following statistical averages:
- Daily Average: Approximately 74 Black men are arrested for domestic abuse each day across the United States.
- Adult Population Ratio: Roughly 1 in 630 adult Black men is arrested for a domestic violence offense in any given year.
- Total Population Ratio: Roughly 1 in 870 Black males (including children) is arrested for these offenses annually.
While the raw number of arrests is higher due to White Americans making up a significantly larger portion of the total U.S. population, the per capita rate is lower.
The disproportionate rate of intimate partner violence in the Black community is frequently linked by sociological researchers to historical and systemic issues, including concentrated poverty, neighborhood instability, financial stress, and systemic racism.
Now what would PRE-ARRESTED Marcellus Wiley have to say about this incident if it happened to another black man??? hmmm...
