Prey
2024

4/10

I watched this earlier this evening at home on Hulu.

The premise isn’t new. The trailer on Hulu is what caught my eye.

One of the highlights of the film is watching White folks stuck in an African Nature Reserve that is full of Apex Predators. There isn’t much done with that, but what is shown is done well.

For the Militants, there are some native tribesmen who arrive and add some good suspense to the film.

Overall, it’s a entertaining film from start to finish.

Synopsis

A couple fleeing militants in Africa crash-lands in a game reserve and must survive attacks from both the militants and dangerous animals.

Future Soldier
2023

4.5/10

I stumbled upon this flick a few months ago searching for something on my cable box. The trailer caught my eye seeing this brother with a big nappy Afro and ski goggles running around.

I had no idea what it was, I just knew I had to watch it. I saved it and watched it last night on Prime.

It’s a low-budget Sci-Fi Cyberpunk film. The premise is nothing original and has been done a million times in the genre. The film is from England.

The film borrows a lot from the cult classic 1982 ‘Blade Runner’. VFX/SFX basically looks like they used Microsoft Paint to get the job done. The film has fight sequences throughout, nothing impressive and don’t go thinking ‘Jason Stratham’, it ain’t close.

For the Militants, there is interracial with a BM/WW, just PDA is shown.

If you looking for some Black Sci-Fi, you should enjoy this.

The film is also titled ‘Hoplite Centurion’.

Synopsis

Bounty hunter Mo Harrington uncovers a conspiracy involving a crime lord (The Matriarch) and a security force (Phalanx Corporation), forcing him to confront his past as a super-soldier.

Canadian author and actress Andrea Werhum is mostly famous from her provocative book “Modern whore” which is a biography of her early years as a sex worker

The book also became a movie in 2025 starring herself with lots of great nude scenes

She was the main consultant in the oscar winning film “Enora”

We Bury the Dead
2025

4/10

I watched this last night at home on Hulu.

It’s a zombie horror/thriller. Not much on horror. It presents a different perspective on the zombie genre.

The film explains the zombie outbreak which is contained in Tasmania, Australia. There isn’t zombie hordes running around. And there is only a couple of scenes with the zombies interacting with the main character like how you will see in majority of zombie films.

The film mainly focuses on the human response to an extreme and unpredictable/unprepared situation that the entire planet has to respond to you.

Not much for suspense.

The film somewhat leaves it off for a sequel mainly by showing far away shots of the burning city and seeing the smoke going off to the distance. These shots will most likely be the premise of a sequel if it’s made.

Synopsis

A catastrophic military event in Tasmania causes the dead to reanimate as slow, docile figures, prompting a physical therapist (Ridley) to join a body retrieval unit to find her missing husband.

Twisters
2024

4.5/10

This is a direct sequel to the 1996 film ‘Twister’. I watched it last night on Hulu.

About the only connection I saw to the first film was the main character using a modern version of ‘Dorothy’ that is used to study tornadoes.

Not much to say about the film. It follows the same premise as the first. VFX/SFX look good and suspense is predictable. No surprises. The only highlight of the film is the character Tyler Owens rigged up Dodge Ram 3500 Dually.

They somewhat left it off for another sequel.

Synopsis

A retired storm chaser, Kate, is lured back to the field by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) to test new tracking technology, where she clashes with social media star Tyler Owens, leading to a fight for survival as multiple, unprecedented tornadoes converge.

This is not a watch at home movie.

I saw it 3 times in theatres.

In 4DX this thing was GREAT!

I wouldn't even bother watching it at home.

Send Help
2026

5.5/10

This film was trending high on my cable box. I watched the trailer and saw it was produced/directed by Sam Raimi. Those two things caught my attention so I watched it this evening at home on Hulu.

It’s a Dark Comedy/Thriller with a premise that has been done before. The difference is based around a Man/Woman. The film deals with sexism in office politics heavily without being preachy about it.

The story flows at a good fast pace introducing the two main characters and then getting them onto the island.

For the Militants, there is interracial between a WM/BM, just PDA is shown.

For the InCells, the main female character says/does things through out the film that will offend/disturb you.

For the Thirsty, Rachel McAdams looks like shit at the start of the film. She somewhat gets more attractive as the film comes near the end.

Sam has some Easter Eggs from his prior films in this one. He also doesn’t hold back on the graphic/gross violence he is known for.

Overall, it’s a entertaining film. The film ends for a potential sequel.

Synopsis

A corporate employee and her boss are the sole survivors of a plane crash, forcing them to confront their workplace power dynamics on a deserted island.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

PRAISE: I went in hoping the movie would give just enough that it remained true to what it is but also provide a different vibe from the show. The two title characters carry over all of the likeable and charming vibes from the streaming series. As Rotta the Hutt Jeremy Allen White turns in some enthusiastic voice work. Plus the character turned out to be nothing like i expected him to be. Once again Martin Scorsese turns in a memorable performance in a 2026 movie. I thought the action sequences were well placed and choregraphed. The creature and alien designs were very impressive especially one that reminded me of a mythical creature from the Conan the Barbarian comic books. I did laugh out loud a couple of times at a couple of humorous moments. Familiar and likeable characters are scattered throughout the movie. I enjoyed the score by Ludwig Göransson.

PROBLEMS : Theres a charming and connective sequence but umfortunately it goes on far too long.It started to remind me of those Disney 20 minute long one shot cartoons like the one they made for Groot. I spoke about hope for this movie at the beginning of the review and i hoped the last 30 minutes of the movie would have something beyond memorable, even a great battle sequence. But it just provides basic canned turns. I thought the movie would try to bring some alterations from what the series is to the table but in the end it felt like a filler season for the streaming series.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7½

The Amateur
2025

6.5/10

I watched this last night on Hulu.

It’s an action/thriller whose premise has been done before, but presented in a different way.

The plot revolves around a CIA cryptologist who has no training in covert operations/espionage trying to get revenge on the men who had killed his wife overseas. He isn’t ‘James Bond’ or ‘Jason Stratham’, his weapon/skill is that he is highly intelligent which he uses throughout the film.

The suspense revolves how he will get through situations he is under and how he has planned things out which is the highlight throughout the film.

It somewhat leaves off for a sequel. If one is made, it’s because he has impressed the CIA on how he achieved his objectives without any actual formal training or experience.

Synopsis

A brilliant but introverted CIA decoder, Charlie Heller, goes rogue to hunt down the terrorists who murdered his wife, using his intelligence as his main weapon.

Baseball major league( Wesley snipes outrunning 2 dudes in his pajamas and barefooted black fucking excellence caught on film)

Basketball and football would be hard cause to many to name

Saw Major League on the big screen as a kid. Packed house. Lots of laughs - people got a kick out of that wild assortment of characters.
