I need Quaid on this

This one clip should be enough to never put this dude on your team at all.

He hasn't been focused on basketball for some time. Been questionable since 2023 and prior ...

Question: biggest disappointing #1 overall pick of the last 10 years?
I mean, if a snake bites you twice whose fault is it?

Agreed. You've gotta be fully invested and committed at the highest level.

That's why guys like Lebron are peak competitors. Nearly a quarter century into his pro career and still a star who treats the sport with the utmost respect.

Or say someone like Jalen Brunson. He's fully dialed in at both ends of the court, and nothing comes easily to him. He's not blessed with height or amazing athleticism, but he's put in tens of thousands of hours of work to be elite. And he's a game changer out there for his team.

Agreed! Either Ayton can’t do it, won’t do it, or doesn’t care to do it. But he’s always been like that so why anyone expects anything different

Discipline and work ethic.

I think it applies to all walks of life. At work I've got 4 main coworkers who I have known for a long time (15 - 20+ years for all of them). And it's hit and miss with oncall staff. Some are good / great ... others it's just a paycheck. But of the main 4 ...

- Early-40s male - super disciplined - 15 years experience - always goes the extra mile & picks up many managerial tasks as the manager isn't around very often. Very dependable.

- 60yo female - 25+ years experience on the job - terrible worker - lacks work ethic and decision-making skills - never goes the extra mile - has made many errors over the years that have complicated things for others around her. One of my biggest frustrations with her that I have brought up with management and at staff meetings is one of the most important tasks - med checks. When the delivery comes in from the pharmacy ... it's the 1st job's staff to check the meds, and the next person's (mine) to double-check it for ANY potential errors that may have been missed. Over the course of a year there were 4 separate instances with multiple errors in med pouches NOT being accounted for. In turn I was double-checking stuff and documenting errors and having other staff follow up with management and the pharmacy itself. Meanwhile she just skated with no "thank you" for catching that. No suspension or discipline. But fuck ... one time there were some 24 - 28 meds missing from someone's weekly roll of meds, and I sat there fuming like - "You're not even fucking checking this shit when it comes in" ... and in turn if the next staff are not looking over what they're dispensing, they're signing the med records as stuff having been given when it's not. Fuck.

- 65yo male - almost ready to retire ... sort of aloof and indifferent ... good at certain things, and weak at others .... needs to be given plenty of direction though. When I give him shift reports I make sure I hit on all the important stuff, as I don't know how well he's actually reading through communication records & narrative notes.

- 60yo female - super hard-working / strong work ethic. Works 0.6 of a full-time line, but works oncall for our place and others during the week and picks up enough work to be full time, and also has 4 international students at home. She gets things DONE and has vocally been very frustrated at the other 60yo who she considered a friend in the past, but who she has distance herself from over time. She knows the other woman essentially sucks at her job and is just a warm body taking up space. Realistically she would like to have that woman's full-time job during the week, but doesn't care for shift work, and also gets paid more herself with shift differentials with weekend work.

Damn. I think there are players who "find it" late in their careers.

But you right he is CONSISTENTLY underwhelming.

Which is crazy in a sports psychology sense. If you HEAR EVERYONE saying this about you loudly and persistently as player wouldn't that motivation enough to get your act together?

Wouldn't you WANT to be GREAT?

Alot of combat athletes have said that sports psychologists and therapists really work.

Especially when it comes to nerves, focus, and visualization, etc. That's when all the hard work in practice has already been done.
