This is one of the most untrue basketball headlines I’ve ever read. This aspect of his past seems to be the focus of a good percentage of Karl Malone mentions online over the past few years.
This really undermines the legitimacy of the stats
How do we know every single one of these passes were the assists? Until somebody uploads a video of the entire game counting the assists, these videos aren’t valid. And why haven’t I seen a video of this about anyone else’s assists?….Yeah exactly. They just creating bullshit for engagement

He could’ve but if he did then he’s not 100% accurate cuz the very first highlight when he passes to Cam Johnson is actually an assist. And those type of assists get counted for everybody. I can’t nitpick it but I don’t care that much. I care just enough to say that some of these types of posts are bullshit.
And I get it however, the last time this was brought up, some folks(including myself)went to the NBA video rulebook to assess the validity of his assists. What was found is that yes those assists that look iffy were actual assists and some assists were very questionable or not even assists.

It's been like that for a couple years now, I think I first noticed it watching a WNBA game, a player was passed the ball, she made 2 moves, came to a complete stop then did some "step through" move and scored. I was like that's a travel, that's when I heard the commentators talking about a nice step through move off the assist by the other player, i see it all the time now...lol..smh

Right, Malone was only 20 when it happened, two years doesn't sound like much but at 20 you're just a regular chester, but 22 makes you a super chester.
I wish I could be shocked or even a little surprised, but given the current landscape of the NBA, how can you be?
