Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die
Is a satire that has a commentary about a lot of stuff in our society. From social media to AI to human interaction to teenagers to violence in America
It's like Terminator mixed with Everything Everywhere All...
It may have some pacing issues, because some characters aren't really developed and some you don't care about. It could have been shortened a little.
It's a movie that has a large rewatchable factor, because of how thought provoking it is. Glad I caught it at the movies, in an era when people complain about movies, but don't support more original indie non-IP movies.
Curious about the extremely unintentionally funny moment?Crime 101

PRAISE: This movie has the vibe and atmosphere of the 1981 movie Thief but it definitely becomes its own thing. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters that include Chris Hemsworth as Mike Davis,Halle Berry as Sharon,Mark Ruffalo as Detective Lou Lubesnick, Barry Keoghan as Ormon, Monica Barbaro as Maya and, Corey Hawkins as Tillman also their conversations even when brief are memorable which are connected to some very good performances. Director and writer Bart Layton displays the flipside of heists and robberies from the well planned and smooth to the chaotic and violent. His story of a jewel thief targeting high stakes heists along the 101 freeway includes that you've done everything right in life but what you are receiving is disrespect and no recognition can push a person to start drawing outside of the lines. There's a moment in movies like this in which I start rooting for the "bad guy" but I also want to see the one that's pursuing the bad guy to have a moment of redemption and I think the movie does this in an involving way. There was a wrench in the works factor that stirred up just the right amount of worry in me. There are a couple of nice to see you cameos.I know some critics had a problem with how the last 12 minutes of the movie play out but I didn't because I remembered the signs.
PROBLEMS: One of the subplots could have been a bit stronger. There was an extremely unintentionally funny moment. A couple of predictable turns.
Scale of 1 to 10 an 8

i sent you a messageCurious about the extremely unintentionally funny moment?
saw last night and while I had some laughs throughout nothing that I even remember exactly now… Pretty much agree with your all positives take but wouldn’t rate it that much higher than 6.5/10
Only thing I’d add is - interesting that last 2 major flicks I recall seeing that are filmed in LA both have similar have/have nots greed/safety focuses/themes — GOOD FORTUNE being the other.
edit: ps - you can throw up a spoiler blur-out for the board or hit me direct if you get back
Tin Soldier' Trailer: Jamie Foxx and Robert De Niro's Action-Packed Adventure - Yes Bitch!
This is another one of those cheesy, low-budget action flicks being rushed straight to VOD because it’s so fucking boring. Starring Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro, Scott Eastwood, John Leguizamo, Joey Bicicchi, and Rita Ora. It’s surprising as hell to see such a stacked cast in a movie that’s...yesbitch.net
Piece by Piece
2024
8/10
I watched this last night on the road. I had it saved on Netflix for some time.
I had doubts about watching it cuz the entire film is done in Lego’s, but I gave it a chance and I was immediately sucked in within 5 minutes when it started.
The film has Pharrell doing voiceover through out. There are scenes with the characters talking amongst themselves. The format of the film is somewhat similar to how a regular documentary is done with collaborators talking to someone off to the side from the camera.
It starts out with Pharrell discussing life in Virginia, how he hooked up with Chad and Shay. He goes through the list of all the artists he went to High School with in Virginia. It goes into him meeting Teddy Riley and then his jump into becoming a beat maker/producer for a wide range of artists.
He goes through all the hit songs in his catalog with the actual artists giving their feedback on when they first heard Pharrell’s music that he presented to them.
Pharrell discusses when he has a slump in his career and his rebound back to the top.
The film’s last 15 minutes is where it slows down with Pharrell giving his weird perspective on life.
Overall, it’s an entertaining documentary. It’s funny watching re-enactments of hip-hop videos of female Lego pieces dancing in bikinis. Majority of the profanity is bleeped out, but a couple words are slipped through which make it funny seeing Lego pieces cuss.
Synopsis
Piece by Piece is an animated documentary about Pharrell Williams' life, told through LEGO animation, directed by Morgan Neville. It follows his journey from childhood to becoming a music icon, featuring interviews with collaborators like Chad Hugo, Gwen Stefani, and Kendrick Lamar.
