The thing about taxes is they flow both ways. I'm a governor and the federal funds that are promised to my state stop, well then the taxes that we send magically stop as well! Minnesota isn't one of these Southern states that takes more than it gives like Alabama. Since you dimed and dashed on a bill, that we have to pay now. Looks like we can't send those federal taxes.

I hope all those Genocide Joe voters that drew a red line on Gaza are glad with what they got! Because this is SO much better!

Through tears, a Republican man made a desperate plea to President Donald Trump on Friday: “Please get her home! Please, she does not deserve this. She is the sweetest person, and she prayed for you.”

It has been eight months since U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained Yamile Alcantu, and her partner of 20 years, Wayne DeMario, has been in a lot of pain.

“They grabbed her, put her in shackles and chains,” DeMario said, adding that after she was “kidnapped,” ICE held her at a detention center in Jacksonville and moved her to Louisiana.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Kansas did not participate in the enslavement of African Americans; rather, they provided essential support to formerly enslaved people who founded the town of Nicodemus, Kansas, in 1877. The tribe assisted with resources and helped the settlers adapt to their new environment.

Key Details regarding the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation:
  • Support for Freedmen: Following the Civil War, the Nicodemus Historical Society recognized the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation for aiding the Black settlers of Nicodemus, the oldest Black settlement in Kansas.
  • Historical Context: The tribe, which had endured its own forced removal (the "Trail of Death") to Kansas in 1838, maintained a reputation for helping the Nicodemus settlers navigate the difficult environment of the Kansas plains.
  • Distinction from Other Tribes: While some Native American tribes in the South held slaves, the Prairie Band Potawatomi history is not associated with this practice, focusing instead on survival and adaptation in the Midwest.
  • Modern Significance: The Nicodemus community has honored the tribe for this historic support during their homecoming celebrations.

This indicates a positive, cooperative relationship between the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and formerly enslaved people, rather than one of enslavement.
