President Donald Trump spoke Thursday about wondering whether he could bestow a Medal of Honor on himself for flying to a U.S. military base in Iraq at around Christmas in 2018.
“I flew to Iraq. I was extremely brave. So brave I wanted to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor,” the president said during remarks at a Georgia steel plant.
Trump went on: “I said to my people, ‘Am I allowed to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor?’”
He then acknowledged that Medals of Honor, the military’s highest award, typically go to people who have seen battle, and admitted it would be “a stretch” to give one to himself.
“Someday, I’m gonna try. I’m gonna test the law,” he said with a smile.
“Maybe I’ll win in court after everyone sues me.”

“I don’t know if they’re real or not, but I can tell you he gave classified information.”

“He made a big mistake,” Trump went on. “He took it out of classified information. No, I don’t have an opinion on it. I never talk about it. A lot of people do. A lot of people believe it.”

Obama told podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen, who asked about aliens, that “they’re real, but I haven’t seen them.”

“They’re not being kept at Area 51,” Obama said. “There’s no underground facility — unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
